I'd hope that guys like Groce and Moorhead already had their "taste" of big-time programs and are happy trying to build up a program like Akron instead. Not that they don't deserve another shot, but it seems like it would be way less stressful. But that's just me talking and obviously I'm biased.3 points

Thats awesome news. Groce giving up money would make it seem like he isn't going to jump up the first chance he can, which is obviously good news for us.3 points

Creating a scholarship chart thread at the request of a few. Attaching what we have to date. As always, there are some assumptions that are going to be made. This currently includes: Each starting K, PK, and LS, regardless of who they are, have a scholarship. Assumes the following players who haven't been announced, either in the formal university announcement process or on social media as a walk-on earning one, but have played substantially or even started are on scholarship: Tyson Durant, Andrew Behm, and Alex Robarge. The current list includes includes the following new members: 2022 announced signees (linked here), and the additional portal commitments we've had since then. I didn't include Keylen Davis for now as he is the only freshman signee not listed on the roster. I also don't think we have any early enrollees from the freshman considering we didn't sign anyone until the Feb signing day and the semester would have started in January. So him potentially not being listed for that reason shouldn't be the case. Took some liberty in assigning the class of last year's freshman as either red-shirt or not based on PT I recall them getting. I think there will be a lot of updates to the classes on the online roster between now and the season. Right now, the list shows exactly 85 scholarships with 24 new players added. This means we can add up to 8 more as we should or will be at the 32 limit threshold. The typical annual threshold is 25, but beginning with 2022, the NCAA has allowed that number to increase by 1 for each player who voluntarily enters the portal, up to 32 total. The overall scholarship limit is back down to 85 as far as I know, so to add any new players, we would need some to leave...which will undoubtedly happen at the conclusion of spring ball. Maintaining this is a group effort. I have basically no inside info, so if there is somebody on or not on scholly that you're aware of and the list doesn't reflect it, please let me know. Groce, Moorhead, Embick, and Guthrie are an absolute unit together. Could easily see that group transcending the University to never before seen heights as a University.2 points

Based on those tweets, it sounds like Groce is content here and plans to keep building our program for many years to come!2 points

Excellent news; JG is one of my favorite coaches, at any level, of any sport. I appreciate the man's coaching philosophy.1 point

Not surprising considering all the shady hires he made during his tenure. Also the new baskeball coach might find it more difficult keeping his players academically eligible depending on who they hire to replace him. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2021/03/disgraced-ex-cuyahoga-county-official-promoted-to-head-of-csus-human-resources-department.html1 point

When in doubt, check Twitter. Haha. Looks like Stallworth and Keylen Davis are still in this class, but were not early enrollees.1 point

I believe so. I remember our discussion being about why he had no D1 offers despite being 2x Pennsylvania POY, or something along those lines.1 point

Right now I'm showing us at 85 with the potential of I believe 4 more additions (but would need a player to leave for each addition since we are at 85). I want to double check the 2022 additions and position listings and then will post tomorrow and hopefully we can get a mod to pin it like you mentioned before.1 point

That some student-athletes choose to transfer isn’t news in college sports. What is proving interesting, however, is that UA’s Joe Moorhead possesses the influence, gravitas, whatever some will want to call it, to bring in athletes from Power 5 schools. It’s becoming evident very quickly that Moorhead and his staff, all comprised of individuals who either played or coached at Power 5 schools at some point, have some powerful ties to those conferences.1 point

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out for sure. I'd have thought we were set at TE (maybe even had one too many already), but this was likely a situation where the talent and potential goodwill of giving a Hoban player a home was too good to pass up. Just seems like we have too many guys (unless planning to run a lot of two TE sets) , but regardless TEs should be good special teams players.1 point

Kylon Wilson was on campus. I’m not sure if we’ve offered, but I suspect we will. HS highlights are below. He’s a smaller player, but he’s a playmaker.. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12905534/61adce44ab920a0830969d0d Jean Louis III was also on campus. No offered listed yet, but one is probably coming. HS highlights are below. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/14439802/6151a9e9479826088cc6e276 Darius Whiteside II was on campus last week and has an Akron offer. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12842167/618fee97b3c87201448e9ac9 Michael Kilbane was also on campus last week and has an offer, but we have some serious competition. He already has 11 Power 5 offers and 22 total according to Rivals. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/13111868/61744021386df7012c82faab Jake Cook was also in, who we’ve offered, but he’s a rising sophomore. If I were a betting man I’d bet he will see some Power 5 offers soon. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/16071032/617d9518041e480cacf231c2 Marcus Moore Jr was on campus with some teammates. He has an Akron offer. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/15582505/61375f08e97ac2057491415e Andrew Marshall was also on campus. He has an Akron offer. Listed as WR and OLB, but he’ll be a linebacker. https://www.hudl.com/video/3/12911769/61a54636f5600308e4ba437b1 point

Good! The university and the city have much to gain by cleaning up Exchange Street and making it more friendly for the public. Look at what Kent has done with redeveloping their main drag. It is very nice and a destination for people after work and weekends. Exchange Street could be the same with forethought and imagination. The university has so many events that can draw people. With a nice Exchange Street with shops and restaurants those people will stay. The street improvement is the first step.1 point
