  1. Miami was 0-6 on the road last year. Granted the Zips have were 0-for-the-non-BG-MAC over the past 4 full seasons...but I think we have more then a puncher's chance against Miami. Buffalo was 4-8 last year. If the ball bounced the Zips way in the last minute against WMU and Ball State, the 2021 Zips are 4-8 too. I'm not betting the house on any of these games, but Moorhead will somehow get to 5 or 6 wins this season. To do it he'll need to pull a couple upsets. Maybe 5 upsets...I don't know if we'll be favored in any games outside of St Francis?

  2. This is exactly how I feel and you nailed it perfectly. Of course I want to see the us win games. But more importantly I want people to care about Akron football. I'm so sick of seeing empty bleachers and people acting like Zips football is a joke. We have a Division 1 FBS program, with a legit head coach, stacked staff and an AD that's committed to winning. Even if we don't see a .500 season, we will most likely see a team headed in the right direction and some fun football.

  3. Be competitive! Don't get blown out by the top MAC dogs/no 30+ pt spreads in conference. And keep Tennessee and Sparty under the 50 mark while putting up some points, like at least couple TDs against each. Beat the bottom dwellers. Gotta play well vs Bee Gee and Ohio and beat an iffy EMU team at home. Perhaps most importantly, create SOME kind of interest in college football again on campus and in the community. I don't see more than four wins -- which would be progress -- but gotta bring back those casual fans lost by dreary football under the Mistake from JCU. And PLEASE stop playing those games with kick-off at 6 a.m. or earlier in Hawaii Standard Time. Yes, that would be welcome progress! 😊

  4. His profile now says he's at Hutchinson CC, so grades may have been an issue.

  5. My magic 8 ball says "ask again later." Sorry I couldn't have been of more help. As I look at the various photos of the new field, the green in all but one seems to have various shades located in different places. Probably due to lighting. Only way to tell for sure is to show up to a bunch of games and see what it looks like in person.

  6. A Successfull 2022 is 5+ wins with one of those being against KSUcks. The Zips need to take Sean Lewis down a notch or two.

  7. Perusing twitter I found this nice photo of George Washington's arena.  The JAR could look a lot like this.

  8. I agree. Coach JoeMo has improved the talent everywhere, but especially along the OL and DL. What he inherited is arguably the worst overall line play in the history of FBS. Although improved, still not a lot of depth and we are putting together a group that hasn’t played together. Football is won and lost in the trenches. Four wins in 2022 is a realistic expectation.

  9. I can't think of a more difficult season to guesstimate an upcoming record. I'm guessing a 4 win season with a team that actually looks like it knows what it is doing. In 2023 I fully expect a bowl season with 2024 competing for the league championship with the final four games being meaningful.

  10. I will change the question around to what will make it an unsuccessful season? Anything less than 7 wins will make it an unsuccessful season. I expect a 1-3 start with close games, and then to roll through the MAC schedule. There will be a couple of tough losses, but the end result is 7 wins. If we could squeeze out a second OOC win, then we can go 8-4. Adding 40 new players with all of the transfers should immediately transform the roster and culture. I expect that the Zips will be Bowling this year. In Joe We Trust!!!!!! P.S. - LZlp - picking 4-8 wins is a copout. Pick a number in the range and stand by it. You are usually such a good poster, but that range is not an expectation.

  11. This viewpoint really showcases just how big this stadium is. I hope to see it packed here soon.

  12. SWEET. Sure would be nice to see the place with as many seats filled as the very first game there.

  15. I'm actually very relieved they didn't go with navy or gold colored turf. Ever since Boise decided to go blue, dozens of schools have followed in their footsteps just to draw attention. I've seen purple, gray, red, teal, orange etc. It's an eyesore and brutal during games. Props to UA for doing it right and keeping the field traditional.
