  2. "Hey Aaron - I know you're a failed, once-promising NFL prospect. I can't imagine how hard that must have been to deal with as you held a clipboard for millions before being offered hundreds of thousands of dollars to hop in the booth to commentate on your safe space - SEC football. Anyways, the SEC isn't everything, bud. The list of non-SEC QBs, even non-P5 QBs, to have more successful football careers than you and countless other SEC/P5 QBs is too long to list. Just keep that in mind before you continue to unprofessionally clamber for a G5 QB to transfer to your beloved SEC or P5 school. Sincerely, Every Zips Fan That Had to Listen to Your Garbage Commentary on Saturday" z.i.P.S. No I didn't send this - I don't have Twitter. Arth's media sessions were like the current Browns regime. Unwilling to answer anything in detail because they're not smart enough to realize the opponents already know their mistakes due to how simple/basic they are. JoeMo knows he's smarter than 99% of the coaches on the opposing sideline, and isn't afraid to actually answer the media's questions.

  3. The interior of our DL has progressed each game. Harper and Wilson are playing well, while Hawkins, Sy, and Thomas have had their moments. If Robinson can continue to develop along with the addition of Holt, we should have a really solid interior DL corps.

  4. Word on the street is - Ravontae's scheduled to see his first Zips action on October 1st vs. BGSU. Long road back to the field for the kid. Hope he can stay healthy. He will be a force if he can avoid the walking boot.

  5. - Joe continues to hammer home the point we were outmatched or “out gunned” against MSU and Tenn. - Said we left 21 points out there with the missed scoring opportunities and turnovers. - Said Nate Thompson had his best game yet. He was decent in week 1, struggled in week 2, and had his best game in week 3. - Thompson is playing the boundary safety since he’s a larger guy at 6’3” 210 and is needed more for run fits. - Said Whigan has been the most consistent OL. Nate Williams has done a good job at RT. Daniels at LT has helped but he still needs to get stronger. - Blake Hester has done a nice job on special teams. - 3 Running Back rotation with Wiley, Price, Norrils. - Clearly happy with Noah Perez calling him “my guy.” - Mentioned obvious players from last game like Shockey-Louis, Adams, Grimes, Bubba. - Intentionally held off on designed run plays for Irons against Tenn.

  7. Looking at Liberty's statistics... - Their QB is a "freshman" transfer from Tennessee, after he was dismissed from Tennessee last year for 2 run-ins with police (looks like they both may have been marijuana related). He was previously a Top 50 prospect when he committed to Tennessee, ranked as the #6 QB in his class by 247 and the #5 prospect in Texas. - Their #1 receiver is a 5'8" presumed burner. He has 15 receptions for 272 yds and 4 TDs. No other receiver has a TD, and the next closest receiver (actually their RB - Dae Dae Hunter) has 8 receptions for 31 yds (2 receivers have 6 receptions for 91 and 88 yds respectively). They have 2 key receivers at 6'3" and 6'4" respectively, so they have size. Our old pal Treon Sibley is also on their roster. - Salter leads the team in rushing with 38 attempts for 216 yds and 2 TDs. Dae Dae Hunter (5'10" 190 lbs) has 38 attempts for 215 yds and 2 TDs. Shedro Louis (5'8" 170 lbs) has 32 attempts for 120 yds and 1 TD. - Their OL looks big and seems to have some experience. No idea how they are at protecting, but Salter is athletic enough to get out of any bad blocking situation. This game should be competitive. A 2-3 score deficit would be understandable and acceptable, but I expect us to be in this game for 3.5-4 quarters.

  9. Realistically even winning while helping doesn't solve everything. If it was Akron basketball would have had no trouble filling the JAR for the last ~15 years given that it only seats ~5500. Football is obviously bigger than basketball, but it's going to take a lot to convince people to sit outside on a Wednesday night in November when it's 30 degrees for 4 hours. If we could average a real 15k for a season then I'd say that was a success. By real I mean the university not having to buy tickets to remain FBS complient

  10. I think a lot of people feel if InfoCision doesn't sell out @ 30,000 butts in seats, it's a failure. That's not true. It should be filled near 30k for a big game, where a "big game" equals - A well-promoted season opener, in a season where the Zips have realistic MAC championship aspirations Kent game, in a year where the Zips have realistic MAC championship aspirations P5 team, when the Zips have realistic MAC championship aspirations Championship-caliber opponent @ InfoCision, in a season where the Zips are also contending for the championship If the Zips aren't championship contenders, all bets are off. Even in a championship-level season, if a mediocre-to-bad Ball State or NIU team visits Akron, no one cares, and you can only expect a mediocre crowd. I feel when the Zips are winning 9...10...11 games in a season, which top-tier MAC programs have proven is possible, and where Joe and Co. are capable of taking the Zips, that averaging a 2/3rd's full InfoCision over the couse of a season is a realistic goal. And that would eliminate the need to travel for payday bludgeoning's like the last two week's, because we'd be making money at home. And winning.

  11. I now live about an hour and a half outside of Lynchburg and plan to drive in for this game. Any other Zips fans plan to attend? I brought my daughter to Liberty for a track meet last year and their campus and athletic facilities are out of this world. Beautiful surrounding area too if you're into mountains and hiking. I don't know much about their team other than they finished the year as a top 25 team in 2020 and their QB from last year was drafted in the 3rd round. I did a little research on their fan site. Looks like Charlie Brewer, who was a 4-year starter at Baylor, transferred in and was set to be their starter this year but went out for the season their first series of the season. They're now down to their 3rd string QB, which is the guy that played against Wake, Kaidon Salter, a former 4-star recruit. Looking at their schedule, Southern Miss taking them into OT gives me some hope, but a win over UAB and a stupid coaching decision away from a win over Wake Forest doesn't bode well for our rebuilding Zips. Regardless, I'll be there rocking my blue and gold, so if anyone else is coming down and wants to link up, let me know!

  12. Not to dive into this, but the Indians/Guardians are one of the winningest franchises since 2013. I'm hoping Blitzer's group takes controlling interest and takes the franchise to the next level with consistent ALCS/WS appearances, but money doesn't exactly guarantee that in baseball. I'm excited for InfoCision Stadium to be renamed Kaulig Companies Stadium or LeafFilter Stadium.
