  1. So thankful for our Zips Mens Soccer program, Coach Embick and his staff, our current players and their families. Thankful for our Zips Mens Soccer alumni and their families and all of the friends and fans of our program. I have met some awesome people and have made some great friendships thanks to our program. This World Cup occurring over the Thanksgiving holiday season has been so much fun. Love watching DeAndre in his 2nd WC and Richie in his first. So much fun to see pictures of Ira and Dylan Yedlin and DeAndre’s fiancée, Crystal, on her IG account attending the match v Wales. Happy to see the pictures and video Reggie Laryea posted from Qatar on his IG account. Canada was the better team v Belgium; unfortunately, the score didn’t reflect that. I’m so much looking forward to the remaining US and Canada matches. And, of course, enjoying as much of this World Cup as I can. Greatest sporting event in the World. 2026 in North America will be awesome!!! Thanks former Zips Head Coach Caleb Porter and current Head Coach Jared Embick and their players for giving me my appreciation and love for the beautiful game. Thanks Coach Stu Parry (and your family) for starting and nurturing our program and continuing to support it so well. Thank you to all former and future Zips Mens Soccer players and coaches. Can’t wait for 2023 with so many outstanding returning players and talented recruits. See you all for the Spring exhibitions. GO ZIPS!!!

  2. What if I told you at the beginning of the season we'd be playing in December? 😎

  3. K State beat LSU on a last second basket to win the tournament. That was a great field for the Zips. I think we played much better than last year in Florida.

  4. England newspaper did player ratings for Canada vs. Belgium https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11463089/Belgium-1-0-Canada-PLAYER-RATINGS-Roberto-Martinezs-labour-opening-World-Cup-victory.html I can't get the writeup on Richie to copy and paste.... click on the article...and you can see that Richie was tied with Eustaqio as the highest rated Canada player. One Nottingham paper ...is calling for Nottingham Forest.....to revoke Richie's loan to MLS as many Nottingham fans were very impressed by Richie.

  5. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I will admit that X played the point better last year than I had originally given him credit for and he will have the ball in his hands plenty this year too. But this system is designed for a point guard who can break down a defense at will like Tavari. Not only will he be a weapon in his own right like LCJ, but he will make everyone else better. Double-teaming Freeman will become a thing of the past and the other guards will have more room to operate. I didn't get to see the games in the Caymans, but 21 points is awesome to see. Go Zips!!

  6. The good news, if there is any, is that Nevada is as good as anyone they'll see in the MAC and they played them even on a neutral floor for most of the game. The bad news is that they again failed to close the deal. I suspect they'll take a lot from this experience.

  7. We were up 7 when Tavari pushed the ball up to Hankerson and he slipped and called for a walk. We gave it up after that travel. Hankerson missed a layup, Freeman had a turnover 60 feet from the basket, and Tribble missed an open J. Not only did Tavari shoot the ball well, he had some great passes to Freeman. He is a player. I believe we are looking at a really good team if Tavari can play this well during the season.

  8. no silver lining for me BUT these are the games the Zips would have on a weekly basis if they weren't in the MAC.

  9. He must be injured or something he has yet to show up in a Butler box score. I certainly don't wish him any ill will but I do wish he would have stuck around.
