  1. Offered OT Nikola Milovac from USF. We recruited him out of high school as well. Played limited snaps at both RG and RT during his time at USF.

  2. Love that there are three out of four non-power conferences and no ACC.

  3. I’d disagree about the 2025 signing class being underwhelming. I’d say it’s Moorhead’s best prep class to date. Moorhead’s prep classes are usually going to be in the range of 12-15 signees, which is significantly less than most other MAC programs. The majority of signings will come from the portal, where Moorhead has done extremely well (7 All-MAC players from the 2022 & 2023 classes alone). JUCO will also be utilized, but so far - outside of Nunnally, Fish, and Anderson (maybe Summers?) - we haven’t landed anyone from JUCO that has been more than depth. Here’s the 2025 MAC recruiting that includes portal departures.

  4. Baffling to those who haven't watched this play out but to those who have watched in the last 2 1/2 years it was expected. Huff thought he was going to come to Huntington and run though the Sun Belt for two years and be snatched up by someone. That didn't happen. As a matter of fact his record before this season was 22-19 barely over 500. He did beat VA Tech at home and Notre Dame on the road. But how did he follow up the Notre Dame win, he went out and got beat by Bowling Green the next week. He was offered at least 5 contract ext going back to right after the ND win. He was ask to negotiate a contract ext every week of this season and refused to do so. He nor his high maintenance wife (She is always dressed like shes going to a party) have never liked Huntington and he has thrown the fans and university under the bus more than once. I thought he should have been fired during the spring when he told a former WOWK TV reporter some things that could have and should have got him fired with cause. The Marshall admin knew he was leaving for USM at least a week and half ago and flew to Raleigh (NC State) and in principal hired DC Tony Gibson.

  5. We've offered Indian Valley 5'9", 200 lb. RB Grady Kinsey. This kid is tough & has a terrific 5-yard burst. Grady scored 5 TD's in this weekend's D4 state championship game, which Indian Valley won. Hudl highlights

  6. Basically, most/all D1 football programs have a “training table” for their teams. A training table provides better food and nutrition vs just the standard cafeteria food that the student body gets. It’s pretty important for kids that need to gain weight or maintain a certain weight level. Akron got rid of their in a budget cut earlier this year.

  8. I bet the coaching staff was more involved in these decisions than God was. All three have players behind them who are younger and possessing a greater upside. Still, I wish them well wherever they go.

  10. As they say don't hate the player, hate the game. They didn't create this mess, but, like just about everyone else, they're trying to take their best advantage of it. I don't feel much loyalty to college football any more. I would not feel like my life was impacted at all if it disappeared.

  11. Personally, I think that the college cup.....should alternate beween east coast, west coast and middle of the country the powers that be......definitely like Cary, NC https://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2024-12-08/ncaa-announces-extended-host-agreements-multiple-championships

  12. This just sucks. I realize you can rebuild like current champion OU did when they lost 9 of 11 offensive starters and I hope Joe does. But this is Akron. Our All MAC's will continue to leave until we can establish a winning culture. Even then, with the shifting sands of college football, we may not be able to sustain a program w/o more support for the players. Nemer has to make a statement and back it up. It is a total shame we don't have a training table, let alone a winning program or attractive culture. A D1 competitive football program is worth the investment. It is part of the remedy for restoring the enrollment. Look at Liberty's enrollment after football took off. Same for Coastal Carolina.

  13. Thanks, Clark. I'm out of likes. As I mentioned to @MangoZip, that blows my mind we don't offer that to our D1 footballers!

  14. Wow, that's not a small deal. I thought maybe you guys were talking about the table guys sit on when they get their ankles wrapped 😂 I can't believe we don't have a special diet for our football players?!?! Yeah, JoeMo should definitely be miffed at that.

  15. A training table is essentially a place where a college athlete can consume a diet regimen directly focused on their physical strength and development.

  16. Jayvin James has gotten offers from Maryland, Georgia State, USF, and Cincinnati. He’s off to a good start. Looks like he’s gonna get his training table

  17. I’ve said in the past that Rivals has underrated a number of our prep players. They tend to grade (or downgrade) most of them to 2 stars. Interesting that Golden, Norton, Rush, James, Nunnally, and Moore are heading out the door as 3 stars.

  18. Back to back years we’ve offered Nick Reimer. Started 4 games at LT for Bowling Green, but only made it through 3 of them and took a redshirt.

  21. You make a good point. I struggle to understand why a player who didn't play much at a school or two will somehow be a problem solver at Akron, or any school they transfer to. Maybe the Indiana coach has it right. He takes transfers from lower divisions who have enough on video tape playing time in actual games to understand how good they are.

  22. Help me understand how a player, who could not get on the field with a program that was not much better than us, will help us have a dominant OL? Are there other issues here? Joe is raising our talent level, no doubt, but his looks mediocre.

  23. Offer out to DII OT Patrick Methlie. Hurt in 2024, but was all-conference in 2023.

  26. Eastern Michigan will never win a title until they get rid of that awful gray turf. Every time I see a game from there I wonder what happened to my TV. And Kent will never win one until they stop being Kent.

  27. well, keep in mind they are 18-22 years old and grew up in the world of social media. We are just old curmudgeons from a different era.

  28. I bet 99% of these guys have never once in their life uttered the words “with that being said”. It’s also amazing how much God is involved in portal decisions.

  31. Wow, thank you for your input. That is a great report. Top Drawer soccer did a special article on Logan Lamaina on August 15, 2024 (shortly after he had announced his commitment to Akron) I have attached below the link to the article. We all know that Akron graduates 2 outstanding center backs (Jonas and Beto). We also know that Akron will return their 2 very good outside defensive backs (Ashton and Josh). Below the link, I will include some small tidbits from the article.....to help us better understand Logan's strengths as a soccer player. https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=26&articleId=53633&articleTitle=commitments:-looking-to-level-up A talented and versatile player, Logan LaMaina has excelled in every platform of youth soccer. Formerly a striker, LaMaina has since moved back, playing as an outside/wing back for his club side while also gaining experience in central defense at Pennridge High School in Southeastern PA. Along with competing for Sporting, he’s played for FC Bucks/Hex FC and PA Dominion FC. “A thing I really liked about the program that was a deciding factor was they play in a very high level conference which is something I've always wanted to do,” LaMaina said.

  32. Hi everyone, I am new to this site and I needed to vent. I have really become frustrated with how the football program has been treated by the administration, and the athletic department, I think we all heard the frustration in Joe's interview after the Toledo win. They schedule 3 of the toughest programs in the country brings in millions of dollars to the school yet they don't even have a meal program for the players; their athletic training program is not what a division ! program should be, and Akrons children's hospital maybe great for kids but for adult football players not so much, and In this day and age a division 1 college football program cannot survive without NIL money which Akron has none, so they are losing players that make a difference to the portal for the promise of 20,000, not millions. Don't be surprised if some quality players leave for the portal after this year. The Zips have one of the most respected coaching staff in college football so don't be surprised if they start to disappear . I don't know how much money the football team made from playing teams like Ohio State, and South Carolina, but I know it certainly does not get much back for the team. I do have one question? Who pays for the administration to go to the away games because they where all there in Columbus, Ohio and Columbia, South Carolina, (don't know about New Jersy was unable to go). Yet there is no concern for the health or welfare of the players who are playing those teams. I have been around football for a long time and I know quality programs breed success. The business of football has changed and Akron has not kept up with the rest of the country and the rest of the MAC and until they do the MAC championship they won in 2005 maybe their last.
