  1. I’ve been a broken record on this but only because I heard back in the summer this is why multiple coaches including Moorhead went through the roof when the school announced the Browns partnership. Even without a collective up and running, money like that from administration could have funded some type of meal/nutrition programs for football but also other sports programs like baseball and softball, soccer etc. Foundation and maintaining some level of momentum starts from the inside, regardless of NIL which is also critical to get and retain talent. With the provost running the budget and the new President focused on marketing and enrollment?, the ability to build and meet the basic needs for UA athletics appears to be losing steam, just the reality. We all know basketball has the luxury of Wentz getting them whatever they need and that’s great as basketball is our gem and they need to keep winning and beating KSU! But as a supporter of programs like baseball where the absence of NIL hurts but lack of university level support for the basics that athletes have had in the past is frustrating. I’m sure it is magnified much more for football (also beating KSU!$). It will be interesting to see even with Moorhead sitting tight, the level of turnover he will have on his staff. As shared by others in this thread a few already jumping ship. A feather in his cap, since he’s been here he has been able to retain the majority of his coaches over the offseason which frankly is rare for a program that has struggled to win. I’m rooting for him but can’t imagine the frustration.

  2. @catdaddyp Looks like G5s are really going after the lower ranks now for linemen and talent?

  3. Explain what is wrong with this take instead of resorting to an ad hominem. My life is perfectly fine, thanks for asking. Like how can you live for several decades watching College Athletics, and think the system is "fair" or make statements like "this is screwing over the fans"? Like seriously, of course it is. The fans aren't what make money in MAC sports, the filling TV time slots does. I knew this over a decade ago when I was a student at UA, how can't you? And aren't we, as adult fans of UA athletics, supposed to have these more uncomfortable conversations? Like how can we stand as the case study of the culture of resume building, and not discuss it? Where is your intellectual curiosity? Very disappointing response from a UAkron alum.

  4. Goes to show you how tough D1 football is, along with the spectacular Ohio Mr. Football Lamar Sperling barely seeing the field at Buffalo.

  7. He has nothing left to prove at Oklahoma I suppose. (or so the coaches may have told him)

  8. He was drowning in the ocean and we threw him a life ring. As soon as he was safe, he threw us overboard.

  9. @Hilltopper is correct! This piece of punt lint is and should always be known as an opportunistic slut. What he did at/to U of A should have been a bigger deal, but the Press as we know it doesn't exist around these parts. Too "anger-inducing" to re-visit. Hot Dog Thrown!

  11. But the MAC doesn't exist for you and me. It exists so that Execs, University Presidents and University Athletic Dept heads can pad their resumes to move onto something else and get paid six-figures salaries while doing it. We don't live in a meritocracy. We live in a plutocracy where a select few do what they want at the expense of the rest of us.

  12. Without getting into any debates over the logo, I will say, in my opinion, it is way too basic, simple and unsexy. I'll never buy a piece of Zips gear with that logo. Why anyone would create something so basic, focusing on an "A" which is common to about 100 universities (Alabama, Auburn, Albany, Arkansas, etc), is beyond me. When athletic directors build their resume they usually want to tout stats saying they "created a new branding that increased gear sales by XXX%". It won't happen with this "A". It's is a whiff. If you like the new logo, great. I have no desire to debate it's merits. I just think it is lame... unimaginative... and boring. I'll wait for the next AD in a few years and see what he/she has to offer. In the interim I'll just wash my "Z" and "Roo-A" logo stuff on the gentle cycle.
