  1. I'm sure someone will post Zips schedule graphic later, but the MAC released the conference schedule today. There will be 22 games. https://getsomemaction.com/news/2026/8/12/mac-announces-2026-27-mens-basketball-conference-schedule.aspx

  2. If he lands the jersey sponsorship deal, which would be the first in the MAC to my knowledge, his phone will be ringing pretty quickly IMO. I'm assuming his interest is already picking up with the publicity from this promo, but the jersey sponsorship would be a HUGE resume highlight. No matter what happens, he has been a home run hire and hopefully means we have a recipe for success to find his successor. In the meantime, I'm very curious to see what he has cooked up for soccer & basketball. If this is what he can pull off for a less-than-successful football program, what's in store for the uber-successful soccer & basketball programs?

  3. Dustin should be preparing for the "Guest Assistant HC" promotion at one of the early home games.

  4. That's just it - if Goodrich is going to leave (and, let's be honest he's probably looking for a better paying gig, though you can live comfortably on the UA salary, I'm sure)...they gotta make sure his successor keeps the forward momentum going, or it'll be as if it never happened.

  5. Man, I miss Charles Guthrie. Goodrich is just riding his predecessors marketing wave.🙄

  6. The Athletic Department has been so passive and just not engaging with the community for so long that it's just going to take time. If this promotion kick starts a bit, that's a good start.

  7. Anything basketball and definitely soccer related isn't going to generate the same buzz as football. The football program has been one of the worst in all of FBS over the last 10 years and it still averaged around 3x the attendance of MBB. It's probably too late for season ticket sale promotion for soccer given I think the season starts next week. We'll have to wait and see what they have brewing for single match events. I did see the Crew is hosting an UA alumni night. For basketball even if they found a way to sell another 500 season tickets and attract an additional 100-200 students/game it would improve the game day atmosphere tremendously. They really don't need a national viral promotional gimmick to achieve it. Just need to get a bit more community buy-in. Perhaps convince some of those football season ticket holders to get basketball as well. Edit: We see 5k+ Zips fan show up every year in Cleveland. We just need to convince some of them to go to games in January and February instead of only going to 3 games in March.

  8. It's great. It's died down a bit, and will pick up again next week when they select the winner, then will die down again and pick up around gameday time. This is like 6 weeks of publicity for us

  10. They need to pass out prop gameday headsets or something like the 1st 1,000 fans get an Akron OC Headset sponsored by Turtle Beach, Logitech... something like that.

  11. The email I received earlier stated the following... Here's what the winning experience includes: - Receiving the call announcing your selection as the Offensive Coordinator of the Game. - Being officially introduced at your own "hiring" press conference. - Meeting with Head Coach Joe Moorhead to help script the opening offensive drive. - Wearing a headset and standing on the sidelines as the opening drive unfolds. - Wrapping up the day with a postgame press conference to discuss your performance.
