Happy to get out of Cleveland with the (ugly) W, but this is frustrating as H*LL. This team is so much more talented than they're playing. Love these guys, but they have to stop hanging their heads and decide to fix this. The coaches can only do so much. The players have to own this. It is theirs to be mediocre or come together like the 2018 Zips, who finished the season strong and went all the way to the College Cup final ... unseeded and on the road to win the MAC Tourney at WVU and defeat Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Stanford to get to Santa Barbara.

Since Halloween is right around corner as well as basketball season (and it is Kent week), I thought it was a good time to resurrect this video.

This team has so much potential, yet there seems very little urgency to reach it. By now (in the season) we should be getting better and turning the juice on. Zip_ME87 is right in that the 2018 squad is a perfect example to follow. Find out what they had, add it to this team and they will go far.

Just watched the media day interview, a few notes (paraphrasing what was said): - Fingers crossed Evan is eligible, said he has been practicing with the team but hasn't played in either scrimmage - Said they played really well in one scrimmage, not so well in another - Likes the flexibility the roster provides...can play big, can play small, can play fast, can slow it down...loves the depth they have. - Thinks their x-factor will be defense and rebounding...loves their toughness - Tahj said he will be a two-way player and an extension of Coach Ford on the floor - Tahj has two sons, 5 and 4 years old. I agree, it’s not worth putting too much stock into this, but I have to think this assessment is more analytical and objective than the MAC coaches poll. I think the coaches in the MAC were voting what they wish to happen more than anything else. They have to be getting Akron fatigue at this point. Come on Coach Ford, let’s keep this train rolling!!

Georgetown made a gigantic statement tonight number 3 Georgetown played at number 7 Pitt Georgetown won 6-1 and it was not that close Georgetown led 21-6 in shots it was 15-2 in shots on goal At One point, they led 7-1 in corners ended at 7-3

Kenpom has released their 2027 preseason rankings. I'm not really a person to put too much stock into them, but I'm ready for the season to start. https://kenpom.com/ Below rounds out how they place the MAC top 5. I read somewhere else, can't remember where, Kenpom has the MAC ranked 12th overall for conference strength. Akron - 109 Kent - 121 Miami - 123 Toledo - 136 Ohio - 143

Without looking at their schedules and just going based on my memory, I seem to remember that Georgetown lost on the road to a very good Maryland team. And they've also played a very tough schedule including our Zips. Akron's only loss came to G'Town so that didn't hurt us very much. I have not seen Xavier's schedule but I don't remember too many (if any) big wins so I think they've probably not played a great schedule.

Some tidbits from the golf outing: * Many close to the program believe this is one of the most talented teams we've had. * There may be a big judicial decision soon that impacts Evan's eligibility. * The big man from Western Michigan, Burton, has a sprained ankle and could be out 4-6 weeks. * The kid from North Florida, Oriol, is a real shooter from distance. * The players, just like the teams in the past, really seem so enjoy each other.

FWIW, Devan Christion took part of a promotion during the football game and was announced as a member of the Akron basketball team so that's at least one freshman who did not leave 😆

The paperwork on Evan is ready to go if he's granted the ability to play by the NCAA or the court.

Pretty much the class before them got an extra year because of covid and the class after them get the 5 years to play 5. From what I understand they're pushing for the 5 years to play 5 to start effective immediately instead of waiting until after next season. Under said scenario Evan would have 1 year left because he played as a true freshman.
