since we now have to pay the transportation fee, living near campus (walking distance) isn't going to save as much as it used to. i lived on spicer for two years and now live in highland square. it's much safer, cleaner, better landlords, and cheaper. DON'T rent from kevin board/spicertown rentals. I had to sue that asshole to get my security deposit back because he mailed me an iou... not to mentioned the numerous health code violations. anyways i would recommend checking out the highland square area and if you can get a roommate that's a bonus. look on craigslist too. i'm in an older apartment in highland square paying $565 plus electric for a 2 bedroom. also you'll find that internet is an extra you pay for and that the safety factor is negatively correlated with the distance from campus factor.
