  1. Seems petty bringing up a 16 month old tweet.
  2. That would be ~$570 in today's dollars. Stills seems like a solid deal.
  3. I'll wait for the facts to present themselves before casting judgment.
  4. It certainly wouldn't hurt the MAC to adopt a similar type system, but at the end of the day we'd still need to pick up a couple resume building OOC wins to have any chance.
  5. I don't know how the argument can be made that the baseball job is better than the men's basketball job. Akron's financially committed and offers the full allotted scholarships in basketball. In baseball we'll be lucky to have 6 scholarships if the plan is to have it be a self funded program like it has been talked about. The only argument that I can see if job security. In baseball if we're at or near the bottom if the MAC every year it's not a big deal because it's expected. In basketball that won't fly.
  6. I'm fine cutting corners as well. I just don't understand why they wouldn't be able to start the coaching search and begin the interview process now. Its not like an offer letter couldn't be written to have a July 1st start date if that's what the hold up is.
  7. We have a young team that finished 11th in the MAC last season. Racing to 20 losses isn't the way for us to rebuild our program. These young kids need to build confidence. Losing by 30 to (insert blue blood) won't do that. We should look to schedule tougher when we have a team that is capable of actually making those games interesting.
  8. How does that impact starting the interviewing process?
  9. The fallacy in the argument is Akron hasn't shown a commitment to want to win at women's sports. Volleyball - Finished 10th out of 11 Softball - Finished 12th out of 12 Women's basketball - Finished 12th out of 12 Women's soccer - Finished 12th out of 12 Akron not having a plan in place to replace Jodi and showing no sense of urgency in filling this position for what's easily the highest profile women's sports shows you women's sports are very low on their list of priorities. It also shows the position isn't better than BGSU as they went out and got the hot name before someone else could snatch them up. One program is looking to win. The other is just looking to fill a Title IV requirement.
  10. They had to of known by mid-season that she had to go. She might be the winning-est coach in Akron women's basketball, but she still in 12 years made only 1 tourney and had a cumulative 89-113 conference record. If the plan wasn't to fire her it probably had more to do with the fact Akron didn't want to pay to buy out her contract.

  12. It might turn into something close to that number if the NCAA really does get rid of the must sit out for a year if you transfer rule.
  13. Just because we might not have any current available scholarships for 2019 doesn't mean we won't have at least one by next April. It's highly probable that 1 or more players transfer.
  14. I'm going to guess the fact he's averaging a turnover every 3.28 minutes plays a factor in why he hasn't played more at South Carolina.
  15. Adding more D1 sports seems counterproductive to balancing the budget. I'd rather seem them just properly fund the sports we already have first.
  16. The below article says he was also considering PCCC. Glad to see he made the smart choice. https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/former-flyers-forward-williams-picks-new-school/BoBEMNEUml75EgmXpevyEK/
  17. He should make for a very nice stretch 4
  18. With the size and depth we're accumulating in the back court I'd have to believe the plan is to play Utomi at the 4 for 10-15 minutes per game.
  19. There is definitely some sort of balance needed. That being said I think this is a good slate of teams. All these teams are pretty much good to great, but it's not like they aren't beatable. If we come out of the tournament 0-4 we just don't have that great of a team.
  20. With 13-15 lineman under scholarship + a few extra walk-ons odds are at least 1 of them were trained. If a preferred walk-on outperforms players we already have then maybe I'd be more content offering.
  21. There are still a lot of players looking for a home. Worst comes to worst I don't mind going into the season with a scholarship available. There are typically a few players looking to transfer mid year. Having a scholarship available played a part in Toledo being able to land Willie Jackson when he decided to transfer from Missouri.
  22. The Browns acquired a fair number of players this off season and still have 9 picks in the upcoming draft. I'd be shocked if any of these guys made their opening day roster.
  23. Xeyrius Williams numbers were down last season, but the year before he put up some pretty decent numbers coming off the bench for Dayton. I'm not sure if he's a grad transfer or would have to sit out a year.
