  1. 6-6 or 7-5 win seasons 7-8 years into the Bowden tenure just won't cut it for me. I'd like to see us push for a 9-10 win season one of the years. He needs to show he is capable of winning big at Akron.
  2. At the end of the day you're making an assumption and assuming it to be fact. No ifs, ands, or buts. Anyways this has gone completely off topic. I won't be making any further replies. Enjoy your holidays.
  3. Pretty much all my posts you've seen are sports related (which I admit I'm opinionated about as I'm more passionate about it) because A) this is a sports forum and B ) I try to avoid internet political debates. But thanks for jumping to assumptions when you have little to no knowledge of where I stand politically.
  4. Sorry guys, I'm just not feeling good about this one. I hope I'm wrong.
  5. Not disputing this. I'm fairly opened minded when it comes to politics, but thanks for insinuating otherwise.
  6. Fortunately for me then that I don't self identify myself with either political party.
  7. I'm in total agreement. So many individuals base their political views solely off of the political party they affiliate themselves with instead of looking at both sides of an issue and forming their own opinion.
  8. I don't want to say the MAC will never get an at-large bid, but if that's what you're banking on, odds are you'll be SOL.
  9. I don't care about last years records for measuring if a team is a cream puff this year. What matters is how good that team is the year you play them. At 3-7 with losses to Southern, Louisiana State, Missouri-Kansas City, UT-Martin is most definitely a cream puff. They jury is still out on several of the other candidates you mentioned.
  10. I see nothing wrong with friendly banter from an opposing fan base.
  11. I would have never of guessed him to win this award before this week. He played 42 minutes of fantastic basketball. That being said, the Zips will need for him to play smarter and avoid constantly being in foul trouble if we are to succeed this year. We are thin all over the place and as the saying goes, your best ability is your availability.
  12. This team has already played better already than I expected. I have them getting 18-20 wins.
  13. You buying?
  14. A lot of games where Utomi has an off shooting night will probably end up like this. We just don't have a lot of offensive fire power.
  15. 10-3 is definitely a good season, but what did their fans expect? Fair or unfair, you need to do more as a G5 to find yourself in a more high profile bowl game.
  16. Well, this is embarassing...
  17. I agree most bowl games are meaningless. What do you expect when you match a 7-5 team up against a 6-6 team? OOC means a lot in the current format. Weak OOC scheduling has hindered the B12 in getting teams in the playoffs in the past. The Oklahoma-OSU had huge playoff implications this year. It's why Oklahoma is in and OSU is out. Had the game swung the other way, the story would be flipped flopped. Under a 16 team playoff that game would be irrelevant because both teams would be locks at this stage. College basketball has a 68 playoff field and half the teams have no chance of winning a national championship. The reason being talent disparity. As I've said an 8 team playoff with 1 guaranteed G5 team is fine by me. Expanding anymore is overkill.
  18. 16 teams is too many. It would make the entire regular season mean less. Part of what makes college football great is every game matters. The last thing I want to do is watch conference championship games at the end of the season and think well this game is irrelevant, both these teams are already going to make the playoffs. The playoffs shouldn't expand beyond 8 IMO and I'd be fine with the top ranked G5 champ being included. Edit: Also, of note a 16 team playoff would require 15 games. This means it will fill 15 TV slots. The current playoff system only takes up 2. That alone could reduce the demand for postseason teams by 26. Many of those teams would probably be the 6-7 win G5 progams.
  19. I really like having Marshall on the schedule every year. There is history between the two programs and D'Antoni has turned them into an average to above C-USA progrum. It's also a manageable roadie for those who like to travel to away games.
  20. I'm not saying Akron will lose by 27 because they lost by 27 1 1/2 months ago, however, if I was an average Joe just looking to place a bet, this would be the 1st piece of information I'd look at. 21 is probably a few too many points, but Akron should be a heavy underdog heading into this game.
  21. I'm guessing this plays a part. http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400944999
  22. March Madness is the largest moneymaker for the NCAA. The cinderella effect and office pool is what makes it what it is. They aren't going to change the format to exclude mid-majors anytime soon. The reason the MAC hasn't been getting at-large bids is because for the most part they haven't done enough to deserve one. The MAC's last at-large was 1999 and since then you could really only make an argument we "deserved" and at-large 1-2 of those times since. The MAC was getting at-large bids in the 80's and 90's because it had better teams at the top of the conference. Between 1988 and 1999, I'm counting 11 players drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. That breaks our to ~1 per year. Over the last 11 years (same time frame) the MAC has had a whopping 2 players drafted. If the MAC can get back to recruiting and developing talent like it did in the 80s and 90s, the at-large bids will follow.
  23. Last year I believe all Lions season ticket holders received a ticket if I remember correct. I'm not sure if that's the case this year.
  24. I wish they would have lost 1 more game in Cleveland
  25. The WCC and MVC have been leaps and bounds better than the MAC over the last 2 decades. We don't need Kent to be good per say, but a better MAC as a whole would certainly help with recruiting, raising fan interest, providing more quality match-ups, potential at-large opportunities, etc.
