  1. The fallacy in the argument is Akron hasn't shown a commitment to want to win at women's sports. Volleyball - Finished 10th out of 11 Softball - Finished 12th out of 12 Women's basketball - Finished 12th out of 12 Women's soccer - Finished 12th out of 12 Akron not having a plan in place to replace Jodi and showing no sense of urgency in filling this position for what's easily the highest profile women's sports shows you women's sports are very low on their list of priorities. It also shows the position isn't better than BGSU as they went out and got the hot name before someone else could snatch them up. One program is looking to win. The other is just looking to fill a Title IV requirement.
  2. They had to of known by mid-season that she had to go. She might be the winning-est coach in Akron women's basketball, but she still in 12 years made only 1 tourney and had a cumulative 89-113 conference record. If the plan wasn't to fire her it probably had more to do with the fact Akron didn't want to pay to buy out her contract.

  4. It might turn into something close to that number if the NCAA really does get rid of the must sit out for a year if you transfer rule.
  5. Just because we might not have any current available scholarships for 2019 doesn't mean we won't have at least one by next April. It's highly probable that 1 or more players transfer.
  6. I'm going to guess the fact he's averaging a turnover every 3.28 minutes plays a factor in why he hasn't played more at South Carolina.
  7. Adding more D1 sports seems counterproductive to balancing the budget. I'd rather seem them just properly fund the sports we already have first.
  8. The below article says he was also considering PCCC. Glad to see he made the smart choice. https://www.daytondailynews.com/sports/former-flyers-forward-williams-picks-new-school/BoBEMNEUml75EgmXpevyEK/
  9. He should make for a very nice stretch 4
  10. With the size and depth we're accumulating in the back court I'd have to believe the plan is to play Utomi at the 4 for 10-15 minutes per game.
  11. There is definitely some sort of balance needed. That being said I think this is a good slate of teams. All these teams are pretty much good to great, but it's not like they aren't beatable. If we come out of the tournament 0-4 we just don't have that great of a team.
  12. With 13-15 lineman under scholarship + a few extra walk-ons odds are at least 1 of them were trained. If a preferred walk-on outperforms players we already have then maybe I'd be more content offering.
  13. There are still a lot of players looking for a home. Worst comes to worst I don't mind going into the season with a scholarship available. There are typically a few players looking to transfer mid year. Having a scholarship available played a part in Toledo being able to land Willie Jackson when he decided to transfer from Missouri.
  14. The Browns acquired a fair number of players this off season and still have 9 picks in the upcoming draft. I'd be shocked if any of these guys made their opening day roster.
  15. Xeyrius Williams numbers were down last season, but the year before he put up some pretty decent numbers coming off the bench for Dayton. I'm not sure if he's a grad transfer or would have to sit out a year.
  16. I definitely support offering an outright scholarship to attract a kicker and punter. Not a fan of offering a long snapper a scholarship.
  17. To me it's not even an issue about the MAC. Teams in general have been shying away from the traditional big. Hell Golden State won 2 out of the last 3 NBA titles playing a 6'7 guy predominately at center.
  18. The comment I was responding to was you calling the Zips midgets when their projected starting 5 will be on par, if not taller, than the Dambrot lineups we're accustomed to. You seem to now be changing your argument, which is a completely different discussion. If Riak is too skittish and KLac picks up too many quick fouls to be effective centers that means they failed for lack of talent, not because they weren't tall enough. Obviously E-Man health is a factor nobody can predict.
  19. Give it a rest. The starting 5 of Big Dog (C), Kwan (PF), Antino (SG), Noah (PG), and Ivey (SF) was 384 inches If the Zips elect to start Poke (C), Sayles (PF), Ivey (SG), Hester (PG), and Utomi (SF) that's 390 inches Even if you swap out Hester (who I hear is more of a SG) for the shortest guy on the team (Loren Jackson), the Zips starting 5 will be 383 inches. There is even a chance Riak beat out Poke for starting C spot and that would add 2 inches to these numbers.
  20. I'm not concerned that we only have 1 scholarship senior. History shows you can count on 1-2 players to transfer per year.
  21. Athletics has certainly helped the OSU, Duke, and Alabama's of the world. What I'm interested in knowing is how much the Elite 8 run helped PCC, the Sweet 16 impact on OU, and BCS/New Years Day bowls impacted WMU & NIU? Side note: I'm really genuinely curious. I've never really heard hard numbers in any of these circumstances.
  22. Sure he was good enough to play on a bad A10 team that was short handed much like Akron. The A10 wasn't as good as it normally is and Duquesne played the 273th SOS. Their schedule was weaker than all 12 MAC schools.
  23. Looking at his career numbers, I have no interest in him. I think Groce can do better. .408 fg% .302 3pt % 1.35 assist/turnover ratio
  24. I feel there is a large amount of people on this board who would agree with you.
