  1. Yeah, I won't be attending this one
  2. Can we quit comparing Dambrot to Groce? We didn't fire Dambrot to bring in Groce. Dambrot decided on his own free will to leave. We brought in Groce to rebuild our gutted program. Personally, I like the progress he's made from year 1 to year 2. Others may disagree.
  3. It's hard to go on a run when we keep sending them to the line.
  4. You make it sound like winning NCAAT games as a mid-major is easy. You have to win a single game elimination tournament to get there then have to beat a team that has exponentially more resources devoted to their program. We also won NIT games at Florida State and Houston. If you want to count Penn State as "a big game opponent" (which its not) Akron beat them by 25 in 2012 ?
  5. I thought this was a dead period for recruiting?
  6. Academies cost money to operate. NFL teams are currently getting fully developed players at no cost. They have no financial incentive to change the system.
  7. They have to pay him the money anyways. For all I care they can have him mop floors and clean toilets. I suppose that would save the cost on 1 janitor.
  8. The two really aren't comparable whatsoever. One consistently competed at the top of the MAC. The other didn't. You can guess which is which.
  9. I can't fault the guy for taking the money. If I was in his position I'd do the same. I can't name 1 college coach that declined the buy out money they were entitled to from their contract. It's kind of unrealistic to expect Bowden to do it.
  10. Dambrot is responsible for all 5 of our MAC regular season championships and 3 out of our 4 NCAAT appearances and you wanted him fired???
  11. Overall I've been impressed with the defensive effort all season. We typically play sloppy 1st halves then good 2nd halves. We've really struggled in creating ourselves quality looks when forces into playing a half court offense. Without looking at the numbers I'd guess rebounding would be another area we struggle with.
  12. NET rankings, which is what the NCAA plans to use instead of RPI moving forward, has Duquesne ranked 113. If they have a strong at best maybe they get a NIT at-large. They aren't going to the NCAAT without winning their conference tourney.
  13. I find it odd we play our 3 biggest rivals (Kent, Ohio & Buffalo) at home 1 year then play them all on the road the next
  14. If that situation happened, I feel said players should be able to withdrawal their commitment if they wish to do so without penalty.
  15. I'm sure some of the ones who didn't want to see Bowden go in the 1st place will be quick to judge, but from the most part I expect people to be understanding. They have been so far with Groce It was 2-3 years ago that Bernie went to a Zips game. People were wondering back then if he was going to become involved in the program in some capacity. This is the 1st time I recall him making an appearance at a Zips function since then. I guess time will tell.
  16. I was answering a question that you asked... KenPom started his rankings in 2002. This just so happened to be the "last great year" for the MAC (PCCC Elite 8). The KenPom MAC average that year was 149.23. This year it's currently at 139.25.
  17. LCJ seemed to be the only one who could handle bringing the ball up the court when Tennessee St provided the full court press. I wouldn't be surprised to see more teams utilize it when LCJ is on the bench this year.
  18. The Zips travel to Reno this weekend to play 6th rated Nevada. The Wolf Pack are led by 6-7 F senior Caleb Martin and 6-7 F senior Jordan Caroline who combine to average 37.6 points 15.3 rebounds 4.3 assist. They return most of the key contributors who led them to the Sweet 16 last year. Game time is Saturday 7:00PM and can be viewed on ESPN3. KenPom has the Zips as 17 point dogs.
  19. The SWAC has better teams???
  20. Without Buffalo it's 149.8, which is still better than the MVC and just slightly behind the A10. You remove the top A10 team, which only seems fair, and they fall behind the MAC at a 154.3 average. The MAC strength is in its depth. The MAC is better at both the top and the bottom of the conference compared to those 2 conferences.
  21. I feel as though you're underrating the MAC this year. Below is a list of conferences and their average KenPom rating. PAC 12 - 89.75 MAC - 139.25 A10 - 148.57 MVC - 158.2 CUSA - 184.5 The MAC is so far having a better year than both the MVC and A10. When's the last time that happened? I'm guessing never in the last 40 years.
  22. No team has ever swept MAC and its not like the MAC didn't have some great teams in the 90s-early 00s. The MAC, even outside of Buffalo, looks really strong this year. I expect UB to drop 1-2 games. Hopefully they are to us
  23. Buffalo knocked off Syracuse to remain unbeaten. They play @ Marquette Friday.
  24. Yes, it would be nice to schedule more home and homes against C-USA, CAA, and MVC teams.
  25. Arth is half-time guest on ESPN+ broadcast.
