  1. It's definitely a generational gap. I'm right there with you. Watching at home is more convenient, cheaper, clearer view of the game, and more comfortable seating.
  2. This. Why give Kent a full week to prep for a particular QB when you can keep them guessing.
  3. I actually think having it the week of Thanksgiving helps. More people have off work and more people who are from the area and went to Akron are back in town for the holidays. That being said, IMO it would take a nationally ranked Akron team for us to draw 15k on a Tuesday night in mid November.
  4. A lot has changed in 12 years. More and more people prefer to watch games in the comfort of their own home on their 55 inch 4K TV instead of actually attending live sporting events.
  5. There isn't much of a market for 60+ year old coaches unless your name is Nick Saban. With a win over Kent, Bowden will likely get a 2-3 year extension. Akron in all likelihood is his last job. It's just a matter of if he'll leave on his own terms or if we will be canned in a few years.
  6. How many of those were purchased by the University?
  7. I was referring to Dambrot turning Akron from a below average/bad program to the class of the MAC
  8. When have we ever faced a good team in the Coaches vs. Cancer game?
  9. We have to stay focused and move onto next week. Akron's going to come in confident, perhaps a little too much, against a Kent team that doesn't have much left to play for but would love to spoil our season. We have to make sure we don't look past them.
  10. Beating some 6-6 G5 team in the (insert sell out sponsor name) bowl is irrelevant to me. I expected more than a 6-6 or 7-6 team in year 6 of Bowden's tenure. Like I said hopefully we jump on OU early tonight (as I feel that's our only hope) then beat Kent next week to clinch our division. I'd be happy with a trip to Detroit even if we lose by 3 touchdowns to Toledo. It would be a sign of progress.
  11. You're right that's what the outcome would almost certainly be. I just won't be happy with it. Hopefully we win the next 2 games and its a non-issue.
  12. Without what Dambrot accomplished here we probably never land a guy like Groce. He turned a below average to bad MAC program into the class of the MAC and regarded by many a respectable mid-major. Hopefully Groce is the man for us to take that next step.
  13. Apples to oranges comparison. A 6-6 team can't be left out of a bowl unless there are more than 78 bowl eligible teams. I don't see there being that many.
  14. I'd be shocked if a 6-6 team misses a bowl game.
  15. It seems premature to be having these discussions anyways. Campbell has done a great job in his short time at ISU, but he needs to do this and build upon what he's accomplished so far for another few years before he gets big time offers.
  16. Bowling Green sucks...
  17. The scores might not have been, but the outcomes certainly were.
  18. It appears this thread has turned into the official 2017 OSU thread. I'll make sure to avoid it. I come here to talk Zips sports. I don't care about dwelling on any other specific team.
  19. I feel Akron's only chance is to jump on them early. If OU is playing with a lead they will be even more inclined to running the ball which I don't see Akron having any chance of stopping.
  20. The race in the West has certainly tightened up.
  21. Thank goodness, I won't need to keep my phone open to track stats any longer.
  22. With WMU loss last night, it looks like a 2 horse race in the West.
  23. Its definitely what Section210Zip states along with factoring in strength of schedule and home/away and perhaps a trickle of some other stuff. Just like Kenpom in basketball, this metric doesn't care about wins and losses. They derive their odds using other factors. Not to say I agree or disagree with it, but that's how they are determined.
  24. The real problem is there is there is 130 teams competing for 4 playoff spots. All having unbalanced schedules. There will always be people complaining about something in said system. Edit: I don't feel its a perfect system but I feel it would be an upgrade if they expanded to 8 teams with the 5 P5 conference winners getting an auto-bid, the top ranked G5, and 2 wildcards.
  25. I feel WMU is a better team than OU and we still found a way of beating them. I do agree that OU is likely the better team, but they certainly aren't unbeatable.
