  1. Thanks for attending and providing feedback.
  2. Thanks for the updates!
  3. That's an extremely low bar to beat.
  4. Balsy, I'm not labeling Kato a bust because he is #4 on the depth chart. The jury is still out on that. I'm just calling BS on you for trying to use it as justification that we are stacked at the position when in reality its a huge question mark depending on how well Woodson recovers from surgery.
  5. You are what your record says you are. We were a 5-7 team, not a 7-5 team. Injuries are a part of the game and everyone gets hurt by them. Some more than others, but you have to plan accordingly. What killed us wasn't necessarily the fact we had injuries. What killed us was we had absolutely no depth. We were pretty much 1 deep at every position (some we weren't even that). We need to be recruiting more high caliber players if we ever want to progress to being something more than a middle of the road MAC team.
  6. I kind of hope they decide to keep it in Canton moving forward. It's a nice build up to HoF week.
  7. I'd be stunned if Dayton agreed to a H&H. Their program has moved up the totem pole quite considerably the last 4-5 years.
  8. Miami recently did this for Cooper in basketball. As coaching salaries rise, I think this will be a more common occurrence at the G5 level. I fully agree Bowden deserves to be fired if Zips go 5-7. Akron's financial problems are however heavily documented and the ABJ would have a field day writing about how the University is using student subsidies to pay a guy $500k to not coach.
  9. We don't need a bigger name. We need someone that can build us a winning tradition. Fleck was a nobody before he went to WMU. Not to say we'll find the next Fleck, but there are Campbell's and others out there that can build consistent MAC contenders.
  10. I agree. My comment was more towards what he has to do this year and next. He needs to make the MACC IMO one of the next 2 years to justify us giving him an extension.
  11. Isn't this the year Akron buys tickets to meet numbers or was that last year?
  12. A MAC Championship title appearance.
  13. He should have plenty of opportunities to rack up gaudy tackle numbers since I expect our defense to be on the field a lot and he's one of the few players on our defense that has proven he can play at the D1 level.
  14. Your best ability is your availability. It doesn't matter to me if his arms are longer or the same size as last year. What I care about is if he can stay healthy for a full season.
  15. We already knew we were playing CSU at the JAR. We're also playing Marshall and 2-3 Diamond Head Classic games. I've heard absolutely nothing on any of the other 8 or so OOC games. If someone with inside knowledge could weigh in on the other opponents that have been finalized, that would be great.
  16. Not concerned one bit. They still return the bulk of their defense (a couple of which were All-MAC players), 2 All-MAC o-linemen, and an All-MAC RB.
  17. Kwan has a lot of potential to make noise in whatever league he ends up being in. He's a big that can rebound, play D, and can hit the long ball. I know he's capable of reaching higher limits than what we've witnessed at Akron.
  18. Why, because we had a run of incompetent coaches? We have the nicest facilities in the MAC. We play in a talent rich area. We play in arguably the worst division in all of FBS. We have the 2nd longest tenured coach in our division. Sputtering around 5-7/6/6 isn't good enough for me. We should be perennial contenders in the MAC East.
  19. Bowden has been here long enough and the MAC East is one of the worst divisions in all of FBS. Anything short of 8 wins IMO should be viewed as failure. That being said there is no way in hell we're getting to 8 wins. How I see the season playing out is Akron goes 4-8 or 5-7. Bowden enters next season as a lame duck coach because the university is too poor to both pay him and another coach.
  20. I see a lot of homers in here. Penn State Nittany Lions - Not worth discussing 0-1 Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions - Next. 1-1 Iowa State Cyclones - I expect a close loss 1-2 Troy Trojans - People seem to forget this was a 10-3 team that lost to Clemson by only 6. They return a lot of players 1-3 Bowling Green Falcons - 2-3 Ball State Cardinals - This is a 50/50 IMO 3-3 Western Michigan Broncos - 3 TD loss 3-4 Toledo Rockets - 3-5 Buffalo Bulls - 4-5 Miami (OH) RedHawks - 4-6 Ohio Bobcats - 4-7 Kent State Golden Flashes - 5-7
  21. @skip-zip, the original post was about social inequality. If I currently feel gays shouldn't be refused services offered to everyone else solely because they are gay, I'm sorry there is no way in hell I'm going to change that opinion when I'm 50. Your may have changed your economic stance, but you still said you are for race equality. It wasn't something you "outgrew". Meanwhile, you are trying to say we will outgrow thinking gays should be treated equal.
  22. Yes, and what came out of that was the civil rights movement. I've stated it before and I'll state it again your generation is WAY more accepting than what your parents and grandparents generation were. There has probably never been such a large generational gap. We are more accepting than your generation and whatever generation is after the millennials will likely be more accepting than we are. It's just the natural progression of our society. Republicans have been loosing up on the social issues because society has dictated they had to. A blatant racist could get elected in the deep south 100 years ago without a second thought. Today they would be extremely criticized.
  23. We can go back and forth on this but at the end of the day there were more liberal voters than there were conservative voters. That's a fact. There has always been more states that are red than blue. That's nothing new to this election. The democrat states are just generally the larger ones where the candidates win in the large cities by a vast majority. You have to remember many conservatives were disappointed with the Trump nomination because they felt he wasn't conservative enough, among other things. Once upon a time I defined myself as a democrat, but every election the democratic party has moved further away from the middle (hell Bernie Sanders was nearly their candidate), meanwhile, the Republicans have been running candidates closer to the middle as they know the typical conservative of 50 years ago wouldn't be winning in today's society. It's a big reason why Trump was able to flip registered democrats in states like Michigan and western PA. He appealed to the working middle class. A group democrats use to fight for, but have now abandoned to focus more on the lower class. Who here is making excuses. Go back and read my earlier post. I've already stated the Republican candidates won fair and square. It still doesn't change the fact there are still more voting liberals in this country than there are conservatives. A number that is only going to continue to grow as your generation dies off and more millennials enter the voting population.
  24. ⬆ This guy gets it.
  25. I do vote and once again I don't identify myself as a liberal. I wasn't blocking streets and vandalizing nor were anyone that I know personally. Once again there were MORE liberals that voted. See the numbers that Balsy and I posted. Liberals are just more concentrated in large population centers. Cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, and LA vote are landslide victories for liberals where they pull anywhere from 85-90% of the vote. The fact they are so concentrated and not more spread out is what costs them seats. Obviously its you who doesn't understand how the system operates.
