The only reason there is a Gonzaga of the west is because given where they're located, there is no conference for them to move to. If their campus was located anywhere east of the Mississippi, they would already be in the new Big East. Xavier and Butler can't be the Gonzaga of the east because the Big East isn't a mid-major conference. Far from it actually.

It's not like we're going to be placed at a competitive disadvantage. All teams are going to face the same issues. One of my buddies is a fitness trainer and has been posting some of his home workouts on his social media. I imagine they will be doing a lot workouts using their body weight and whatever free weights they have at home. Perhaps may even be doing some home workout videos.

That would seem a bit premature given that the season is 5 months away. From what I've read it sounds like the virus in China has been contained and there has been a sharp decline in new cases over the past few weeks. We may experience something similar in the next month or two.

Yeah, they had Micah Potter on OSU and he averaged double figures with Wisconsin this season. Whatever list they used to update the rosters was certainly out of date.

The vet min for a 4th year player in 2019 was $806k. It would have only gone up for 2020, especially with the new CBA. He's pretty much making vet minimum. He's a huge upgrade over Hilliard in the return game, which is what he was brought here to do. I don't see how paying a kick returner vet min is a bad signing.

So the reddit community is hosting their own mock NCAA tournament using college hoops 2k8. You can even watch the games live on youtube (not that I am). It doesn't even look like he's all that great finishing at the rim. A lot of those made baskets came after he rebounded his own misses

UNC season got derailed by injuries, including to a guy that will likely be a lottery pick. I could be wrong, but I think they were mostly healthy when they played tOSU. I do agree that it's a nice game to have on the schedule. Personally, I view it as a little to lose, but a lot to gain type game. It certainly beats playing a random Big 12 or ACC opponent.

I would have liked to have gotten a shot at tOSU in the tourney. I'm glad we didn't play them in November. They destroyed Cincy, Villanova, UNC, and Penn State early in the year. Also beat a really good Kentucky team. They peaked in November thru mid-December. Those two months of basketball were why they were projected to be a 4/5 seed.

A lot went our way for us to play at the level we did this year. We were picked to finished 5th in the MAC East during preseason. Personally, I thought we'd finish 2nd or 3rd in the East with BG winning it.

Not really a surprise. Not too many seniors are going to return to a team that they were only getting 3 minutes a night. He's good enough to get 25 minutes a night on a lower level D1 program.

It's hard for me to make any educated predictions for next season. We just have too many moving moving pieces. The MAC as a whole should be pretty on par to this years level of talent and I don't see any 1 team that appears it would be dominate. It all just depends what kind of production we can get around LCJ. If teams can hard double him all season to force the ball out of his hands, it could be a very long season. If we have other players who can space the floor and create their own shot, LCJ should be in the running for a 2nd POY and Akron would have to be among the favorites.

It would create a huge competitive disadvantage if you allowed only certain teams to keep their seniors and others not to. Also, the vast majority of teams still had their tourney hopes alive so it's impossible to know which exact teams would have been in or out. They would need to expand the field for a year (not that I would be opposed) to give all the conference tournament winners from this year an auto-bid.

They cut them down when they beat Ohio the game before.

The NCAA not only has insurance for this type of thing, but they have a massive rainy day fund. A couple years ago it was released how large it was and people were furious that the NCAA was holding onto that money instead of distributing it to schools. I don't remember how much it was, but it was enough to fund the NCAA for a multitude of years. We'll see how things play out. It's no guarantee everyone would want to come back anyways. Banks being a prime example. He has a kid now so at some point he has to work towards becoming a provider. I don't know everyones situation, but being able to finish up a masters or have an extra year to develop might be useful to someone like Xeyrius or Cheese.

It's disappointing to see because this team had real potential to bring Akron their first tournament win in program history. Not saying cancelling wasn't the right call. It was just unfortunate timing.

It would either be that or highest remaining seed.

Doesn't really matter where they play if there is no fans. they could play in a high school gymnasium.

They have a nice two man game between Preston and BVP. It's important that Banks stays in front of Preston as Preston is going to want to attract the help defender and be able to kick it to the open player.

I honestly think for the conference tournament the players and staff are safer by participating. The teams have already traveled to the host cities and are self isolated preparing for the event. If they weren't participating they'd be out doing whatever college kids do these days and come into contact with even more people.
