Matt Kaulig (Racing) Former Zips QB
Section210Zip replied to Section210Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
The Zips also got tv time last year in the elimination race before the championship race. Blake almost advanced and it was a big story of an underdog team competing against the big boys. During the broadcast they said the owner was a former division 1 qb and the team is using football lingo for their strategy as a solute to Matt. They then played some audio of the team and went on to explain how Matt played qb for the Akron Zips and told his story. -
Former Zips QB and owner of LeafFilter and Kaulig Racing was on "The Morning Drive" SiriusXM, Nascar channel 90. The introduced him as former Akron Zip's Qb. They spent a good part of the begging of the segment talking Zips football. Matt talked about being recruited by Jerry Faust. He also talked about the program being in a good place under Terry Bowden and about winning the Potato Bowl. You can listen to this on demand if you have a SiriusXM account. For those of you that don't know, LeafFilter has been a sponsor in the Nascar Nationwide series since 2015. In 2016 Matt start his own team, Kaulig Racing that fields the 11 car. They actually made it to the playoffs and advanced to the 2nd round last year. Kaulig Racing has a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing who fields the 3 car in the Cup series formally driven by the legend Dale Earnhardt sr.

The Steelers or Pats. Both do a good job of looking at MAC talent.

Should MAC Football eliminate divisions?
Section210Zip replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
It's actually turning out to be the exact opposite with Toledo and C.Mich. losing to Ohio and Kent. Miami may beat Eastern as well -
I'm glad you said this because I was about to flip. Yes it's in the Time Warner Sport ch 1311

I actually got to crowd surf to that song just like Jim Carey Ace singing Hammered Smashed Face

break the buzz kill this forum has become! Its GAME DAY for a WINNING football team that's about to beat the ibulls (yes I meant ibulls) to be the cherry on top of being bowl eligible for the 2nd straight year. Our progrum has been resurrected and we get to laugh at death on the other sideline!

7 and half hrs till kick off and I'm getting excited for Akron beats Buffalo for bowl eligibility part 2

Ok got yeah. That part I understand.

I couldn't disagree with this more. It wasn't that long ago I would have to drive somewhere to get the AM signal so I could listen to the radio broadcast. Now I get to watch out team no matter where and when they play. To me the WatchESPN app is the greatest thing ever. on a side note: Whether we are on ESPN or ESPN3 it all pays the same.

It was bad!! They kept miss pronouncing the player names. They confused offensive and defensive players with the same number. It was also obvious that they hadn't even watched any of our games or did any research. Usually the producer and the analyst will pull stats and facts for the game and these guy seemed like all they did was look at some box scores the night before. They offered no kind of insight. My wife and I lost it when they showed Ulysses Grant. It was even funnier when they proceeded to call him that when he made the tackle on the next play.

On Zips Football with Terry they did a special on UG3. He said JB and him talk about everyday. JB watches every game then calls him to tell him what he did right and what he could do better.

Woodson is in street clothes
-
Yesterday Terry said Woody bruised his shoulder at the end of the App St. game. He said there isn't anything wrong structurally and he has been cleared by the doctors to play. Its a matter of being able to deal with the pain. Terry went on to say all last week Woody felt better and better but still had a lot of discomfort when he warmed up Saturday. Both qb's practice with the 1's this week and if Saturday Woody is still sore TC5 is ready to go.

1) Miami under 16 pts. - A struggling offence that now is going to start a true freshman. They only avg 52 rushing yards a game so I don't see the run helping them out. 2) Akron will win by 18 +. I think this is the hard one because we won't need to put up big pts in this game. I think we still will put some pts on the board while Miami wont. 3) Zips will rush 32+ times. We avg of 28 attempts a game, and with the reasons I have above, we will have a lead and drain the clock more than we have been.

It's crazy he had 156 yards on kickoff returns.
