  1. missing the uniforms was blessing enough.
  2. For the top 6, they get to go to Cleveland. The problem the MAC has is if Western wins a few and either Ball State or Miami tank and there's a 2 or 3 way tie for that 8th spot. Akron 11-3 Toledo 11-3 Kent State 9-4 Ohio 7-4 Buffalo 7-4 Bowling Green 7-7 Miami (OH) 5-6 Ball State 5-6 Western Michigan 3-8 Central Michigan 2-9 Eastern Michigan 1-7 Northern Illinois 1-8
  3. perfect storm for them. nothing to lose. been sitting in a hotel for 3 days. came out and gave the Zips a game. Won't see them in Cleveland, thank goodness.
  4. I was thinking all afternoon how much I enjoy watching those games after the Zips win. Zips loss would have ruined my evening.
  5. WTF? Silver lining is we won't be seeing the Huskies in Cleveland! Zips made 25 more FTs. Refs must have been on the Zips side this time around.
  6. Not looking forward to their trip to Muncie.
  7. Look, it's all about the MAC tournament, right?
  8. this day started with an article and a brief discussion of Akron's defensive woes. Quite prescient.
  9. I meant they don't look good..."read" is a phrase they used to say something won't look good in print.
  10. POST OF THE DAY! NIU looks like their home floor and someone used gold duct tape to # the Zip uniforms.
  11. 16.5 favorites. Maybe GT has reason to be cynical about this team.
  12. three nights in the Ravenna Best Western must have inspired them to play better.
  13. looking sloppy, lazy, sluggish. letting #22 run right through them. over it.
  14. Those uniforms don't "read" well on the television. Must look better in person. NIU shooting 64%? Ugly start.
  15. Today's article lays out the goals for today's game but the article on Sunday was poorly written. Content v Form. Form v. Content.
  16. Pros and Cons of the T-Shirt Cannon.
  17. Despite what GT thinks, Akron opens up a 16.5 favorite. Surprised. Toledo is -11.5 against Miami. Today's ABJ headlines: UA looks to avoid season sweep by NIU Santiago steps up as Kent State point guard
  18. 99% sure NIU stayed in town after the PCCC game. Anyway...it stopped snowing.
  19. T.O.S. to N.I.U.
  20. I found this on the Toledo Rocket message board (their words not mine): "With 3 weeks in the regular season left there is a big discrepancy in the number of games each of the top contenders have left due obviously to COVID postponements. In looking at the standings the top teams have the following number of games left on their schedule – Toledo (6) Akron (7), Kent (7) Ohio (9) and Buffalo (9). Now looking at the remaining schedule for the contenders, these are games still left to play with postponed games at the end . Toledo – Miami, @Buffalo, Open, WMU, @CMU, Ball St. – NIU (Postponed) Akron - NIU, @Ball St, Open, BG, @ Buffalo, Miami, -- Buffalo, @Ohio, (Postponed) Kent – @WMU, EMU, Open, @Miami, Ohio, @Buffalo, -- @EMU, @Ball St, (Postponed), Ohio – Postponed, Open, Buffalo, @Kent @BG, -- @Miami, CMU,@NIU, EMU, Akron, @WMU, Buffalo - @EMU, Toledo, Open, @Ohio, Akron, Kent, -- @NIU, CMU @Akron, @CMU, (Postponed) With no games currently scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23rd, everyone will be able to make up a game on that night. But that still leaves Akron and Kent with 1 additional game to play, Buffalo with 3 and Ohio with 5. Of those remaining postponed games left, for Toledo’s sake I hope they make up the Buffalo at Akron and Akron at Ohio games. With all that said, it will be interesting to see how the MAC schedules these postponed games and then how they go about seeding for the tournament."
  21. Considering when they occurred, those NIU and EMU losses don't bother me too much. But unless there's a dominant team like Canada was a few years back, nothing is certain in a MAC tournament. Eliminating the bottom 4 teams before Cleveland, tightens things up even more.
  22. I was wondering if they just stayed after the Kent game.
  23. Rather like Akron's draw as the 2nd seed. PCCC or BG in semis after a rematch with Miami. Not sure how Pippen an his knees will hold up two games in two days.
  24. PCCC gets a glowing article for BEATING the Huskies, and Zips, who beat PCCC twice, have a game against NIU looming on the horizon? But as GT lamely with a cliche flourish points out, "time will tell" for those wily Zips whose top-rated defense apparently sucks.
  25. IMHO, GT's article in the Beacon today was awful. Basically, Zips fans should be worried as Groce and his team cling to 2nd place. Poorly written.
