Never heard of them and looking at the roster I do not recognize any names. I do like the name Tjuan Benafactor though.

I looked at NIU schedule to see how the short week game with the Zips worked for them. They have BYU on the road the week prior. They actually have two payday games after their first MAC game. And they start MAC play two weeks earlier than the Zips. So more reasons to think having PCCC in week 1 or 2 would work. Also, while week 1 for the Zips is 9/1 there are NCAAF teams starting on 8/25. At first I thought that wouldn't work since school doesn't start until the 27th but 1) how many students go anyway? and 2) it may be a chance to promote a home game on move in weekend. The marketing ideas for that would be endless.

PCCC should be the 1st or 2nd game every year regardless of who is the home team. If that takes a payroll game away early in the season then schedule an SEC team during their non conference week late in the year. Or schedule one of the few independents that are left later in the year. it has to be tough for them to schedule once teams are in league play.

If Sept 7 and Sept 21 can draw decent crowds. Otherwise, we may as well go BIG on the road and take the cash.

I have never seen the kid play but since I noticed he is local to Akron I have to ask. Does Alfred Johnson III have D-1 potential?

I've been living by App State since September 2016. They do support the teams and the school tremendously around here. There is quite a bit of support for Tennessee and Virginia tech here too but on game day App State gets the attention. I don't see a lot of professional support, that may be the big difference with App State and Akron. There are some Carolina Panther fans but less so for the Charlotte Hornets and baseball is about none. We get almost all of the Braves and Reds games on TV but I see no one walking or talking MLB. When I go to Akron I see Browns, Cavs, Indians, tOSU then Akron support. So I'm not sure if professional sports is THE biggest detriment to the Zips but it sure seems to be a common factor when comparing to some of the southern Universities.

I always wondered about Ricky Powers as a college assistant coach. He surely would have the gravitas in NE Ohio to recruit.

I like when they have enough for everyone to get one and then whatever is left over they pass out during the last couple of games of the season. I always felt that was a classy way of doing it. When the promotion is the first 500 and I am the 501st it kind of ruins the goodwill they are trying to build. Especially with kids promotions and your aggravating possible future customers/students.

I had football on my mind and was thinking they were filling an ESPN3 timeslot. Oh wait...never mind that can't happen.

MAC releases 2018 opponents home and away

AND all home games will be on Tuesday at 9:00 AM in order to fill available ESPN3 time slots. -
When your legendary coach is Earl Bruce you tend to have some lopsided rivalries. My goal is that the rivalry with Cant gets so far out of hand in our favor I don't even consider them a rival anymore.

This sounds crazy to me but... a young lady I work with and her husband rent a room to a guy that plays video games all day on the internet and people pay to watch (over the internet). She has been promoted twice in the past couple of years and the room renting/video playing/visitor has even moved with them.

"He has completed 61-of-125 passes for 44 percent completion rate" Huh?

124 of 129, it apparently only lets you vote once. -

Last time I was in the Townhouse I ran into Mike Birkbeck, probably about 1984. I don't suppose we could afford him to be the new baseball coach. -
Has anyone heard what capacity Bob Fritz will be filling for the "new" baseball team? Bob is a one time Baltimore Oriole and longtime Cincinnati Red scout. Friends have told me he will be working with the Zips baseball.

My wife and I set the timer on the TV so we wouldn't miss a second of this nationally televised game. She laughed as you could count the people in the stands across the way from the cameras. It reminded me of a game at the Rubber Bowl years ago. My dad always bought 4 season tickets each year (yes he was the one!). During one season (I'm assuming a year they were good, so during the Steve Cockerham days) all of us in attendance were asked to move to the East side of the field so with the cameras on the west it would look like the Bowl was full.

Hmmm, I bet the class mate once said " I carried it too far, that's for sure" ¿

I'll take the ACC also, except for FSU, Clemson and Louisville. It seems we should be able to make money and have a chance at winning. Of course every other MAC team is aiming for the same thing.

Typical Iowa State, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If we can pressure the QB we have a chance. Otherwise with those big receivers it could be a long day. Iowa let them back in the game 3rd quarter when Park had time to throw. he was not too accurate with any rush at all.

I travel between Statesville NC and Ellet 2-3 times a month so I guess I can say "I have made the trip".

I would like to see more games with App State. Both basketball and football. Every other year in each every once in awhile would work. it is an easy 5 hour drive right down I-77 and there is lots to do in the Mountains. Also, UNC-Charlotte would be another easy road trip for both sports.

What I got out of this is Scoonie Penn's kid is getting looks from mid-majors as a sophomore in Columbus.
