I agree with ZippyRulz on Burkhart, and think that Boogie may get the most yards maybe not the most targets. And I had the 100 to 130 yard range for rushing but think that Kato will get more than 50% of it. All that said I predict a 2 point win, believe it or not.

Well, at least we have Silver Creek Metro Park, even if we don't have a track to run on. Our track and cross-country coaches were instrumental in design and installation of a fantastic cross-country course at Silver Creek Park in Norton, to be used by college and high school teams throughout the season. And this year our XC team won the Tommy Evans Invitational out there, and out two besties, Mackenzie Andrews - All-American, and Andre Bollam-Godbott took firsts, and Andre even "mixed it up" a little at the finish line with the defending champ of the MAC from Ohio! Maybe no fireworks at the football game, but out in Norton...close!

Preseason article on Kato & Alvin Davis

I wanted to ask Cykron about that....I was expecting Kyle to get the #1 spot this year, wonder what's up with that? -
read UAB thread.....

ZipsVoice replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Are you just referring to the recent International break, or missed Mattocks and Yedlin? -
Not to get off topic too far but during the last 2 seasons and the first two weeks of this season watching NCAA D1 football, it amazes me how bad the punting and kicking game os for lots of schools, including top 25 teams. Michigan may have won a national championship a few seasons ago if they even had a mediocre kicker. USC lost three games the last two seasons because of none of their top 3 kickers could hit anything over 30 yards as far as FGs go. There's a lot more, just pend a Saturday watching 3 to 5 games. I know lots of us has said if we had a child starting football we'd get him trained up to be a kicker, there's a sure-thing scholly waiting for them out there if they're just competent. Why do you (anyone out there in ZNO-land) think this is? With how much our kids get single sport specific training, how come there aren't more decent kickers?

Can't argue with any of these...Professor!

He played Nana, he was out there. He did catch 2 passes for 21 yards. As to how they are using him, that I can't answer you.

While the football team was creating major headaches on that forum, Chris Bassitt, new father, gets a career high 11 strikeouts in a 6 inning win. Way to go - once a Zip, always a Zip....

This is what Arth said in his post-game press conference: What is the turnover pencil: Our defensive staff came up with that. One of the great strengths coach Rodriguez has is understanding our players and what’s most important. You have this giant No. 2 pencil. For a team whose program is built on fundamental and technique, what is a greater representation than that? It’s about writing our story and realizing that the only people who matter are in our program. Whatever is happening on the out doesn’t matter, it’s about us

One of the bad things about yesterday and the ensuing ZnO battle of words is, the superb game that Dustin Burkhart had was mostly overlooked. What a great performance the young man had. had a lot of contact with the kid while he was at Coventry and he is a class act, and so wanted to come to UofA. He's sat for three seasons behind some talented WRs and finally got his chance and showed up big. And he didn't quit on the long reception that got batted, and he ran to it and took it down the sideline. Nice job, I think we all can agree.

Wasn't listed on the game roster today, so not sure he's still with the team.

I'd like to get the opinion of a few 18 ear old football players in Ohio about whether they even knew who Bowden was, or is. Not to mention the 80+ year old defensive coordinator and his all over 60 staff, except Milwie. It's great that all of these posters want to resurrect Bowden, but as Kreed said, what did he really do here, except make all of you think mediocrity was a good thing. Another season of geriatric guys recruiting from out of state and bringing in 5th year seniors and transfers would have made alll of you happy..at 5-7. How about a fe area HS players opinions on who they's like to play for?

I was thinking the same thing at halftime!

They are defending Conference Champions and did win the Cheribundi Cherry Bowl last year.....they are not a pushover as some here suggested earlier...not you Cap'n.

I'm thinking Mr. Lee will be the key. UAB is quick but not that big, and Brandon is quick but his size may hinder the Blazer tacklers from getting good hits on him. Since he is a receiver by positional choice, I think we're going to see him get some short slants over the middle and a few screens as well. I predict a win, and I'll be roundly chuckled at (what's new?) but I think the Arth era at home starts with an Arth prep and motivational week to set this one up. Don't leave early (I mean it's a noon game so stick around!) as this one goes down to the wire in a 2 point win.....

Me too Blue. The TV age took that one away, "needing" to be able to name an MVP before the end of the telecast, they rushed it and missed the second INT. He was ROBBED! He's still the MVP as far as I am/was concerned.

A new Zip arrives! Chris Bassitt's wife gave birth Wednesday evening! Chris misses a start, probably pushed back until Saturday, but for good reason. Congrats to the Bassitt family....

I believe you are right....

I know...I had hoped that it was a "Bowden" thing, keeping info close to the vest, but I guess I was wrong.....

Malone's on the mark here...and one other take from David last night was he kept his cool. His maturity growth showed tonight. Not as easily rattled by trash talk or physical hits.
-
I agree...and think Lee is right about the attitude towards this one, play a lot of bodies, try some different things, and see who needs to be held over as redshirts.

Should be 10-5 but got a little sloppy in last start, despite his offense scoring 7 in 5 innings. I'm sure not trying to rain on a great season so far for Chris, love he's getting the ball, the starts and the performances......
