Maybe they'll have fireworks unless the women's LAX team is playing a late game...?
-
John, c'mon...no they didn't wake up "bad", they just were never D1 material, sorry to say. The lateness that Arth came into the recruiting process, the guys who stuck around from Terry's regime that also never saw the playing field, and the fact that the team needed to fill a lot of spots on the squad just to be able to practice! You act like this is the first time in NCAA D1 history that players on a roster never got PT. I know you are coming from this based on us being winless, but is that any different than when we were in the midst of losing 5 straight last year under Bowden and we didn't ever see the likes of Youssef Barakat, Gavin Blunt, Zach DiLauro, Caleb Green, Nick Kopczak, and dare I mention Alex Ramart, who was supposed to be better than Kato? These are just a few of the 2018 Zips that never saw a stitch of PT, and it's not that different at other schools who have losing records, have no chance of going to a bowl game or placing in the top half of there conference standings. There are guys on all teams that are just not good enough, but they bust their butts every day, and try and try, and help the team in many ways, like running the scout team. But their rewards don't include real game PT. Stop making this sound like it's a conspiracy by the current staff. It's not. And yeah, you can always find a player in the NFL that everyone passed on....that's nothing new either.

And I have heard there are guys out that that are not even getting their pudding because they won't eat their meat - How can they have any pudding if they don't eat their meat? Politics in sports? and "for one reason or another"? Probably one of those those reasons are they aren't good....

Zips Womens' Soccer close to Tourney Berth
ZipsVoice replied to ZipsVoice's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
So, thought this got posted from my phone yesterday, but no sign of it. The Womens' soccer team lost in a heartbreaker yesterday, at Buffalo 2-1 with 1 and a half minutes left in the second overtime. After withstanding a first half onslaught from the Bulls, the defense held and then UB scored in the 85th, only to have Abby Brown equalize 40 seconds later to get it to OT. Heartbreaker. Great season, great job by the staff with a young team. Only 1 senior on the team, so we should expect another tourney berth and who knows? Maybe a MAC star? -
Assessing Coach Arth (and his staff)

Oh yeah, I'm sure our lawyers put a clause in the contract that says "If we come back and ask pretty-please with sprinkles on top will you be our knight in shining armor and ride back into Akron and post another glorious sub-500 season...." You are truly delusional, we don't need to see a copy of the contract, if there was anything like you are raving about doing, I'm sure we'd have heard about it by now...happens all the time in NCAA football, doesn't it? Make someone come back and "earn" the money they are being paid to NOT coach a team....tell me once...ONCE...when that has ever happened? -
I agree Yipa, and never said it was...check my posts from when the MAC play began, I said none of the non-MAC games matered. However, I still believe the 11 we sent out and the numbers we subbed n were far superior to the Vikings on the pitch, but saw no evidence of that. We don't move forward into the NCAA with just our stars, we need depth...hence my disappointment at the level of play more than the outcome of the match.

Assessing Coach Arth (and his staff)

What don't you understand about the word "terminated"? When a contract is terminated, but receiving compensation due to a contractual arrangement, you still NO LONGER WORK FOR THE EMPLOYER! Talk about missing the point. The position we are paying him for is to NOT be our head coach. Maybe too many helmet-to-helmet blows in your past 71. -
THE FIX IS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!?

That has as much chance of happening as us moving down to FCS or D2....... By the way...how many NCAA FBS teams have moved down to FCS since the split? -

Women are getting hammered on the pitch but withstanding the onslaught so far...1 shot to 9 for Buffalo, a SOG to 6, with Libby Harper coming up big so far. 5 minutes left in half... -
I think this is the framework for all sports, taking out the division stuff. I think the big items are section where three or more are tied for a position. Those are the same for all sports, I believe. I've done the math, and I think there's a 99% chance we're the #1 seed no matter what....but I could be wrong, as usual.... Oops, I re-read what I posted and it's not what I thought it was. You are right ME, this is for the sports with divisions. We had the discussion on tie breaking during the WSOC match Thursday and it is very confusing, and has to do with the results over higher ranked MAC teams, and such...it took a lot of noodling and still we didn't know until the final what the final placements were.....Sorry

Here you go: TIE-BREAKER PROCEDURE Ties in winning percentage, and thus for tournament, seeding positions shall be broken as follows: 1. Between TWO teams: A. Head-to-head competition B. Division Record* C. Winning percentage* vs. ranked conference teams (top to bottom, regardless of division, vs. common opponents regardless of the number of times played) D. Coin flip 2. For MULTIPLE (3 or more) team ties: E. Total won-lost record/winning percentage* of games played among the tied teams F. Two (2)-team tie-breaker procedure goes into effect (refer to A) [NOTE: Once a three-team tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker will go into effect.] ^ - For the purpose of determining the Division champion. This tiebreaker is ONLY used for seeding purposes if the two teams in question are tied for the Division lead. (Teams will still be considered co-divisional champions) * - Winning percentage is used instead of record because of situations where teams do not play each other the same number of times. Therefore, a team that is 1-0 (1.000) would win the tiebreaker over a team that is 1-1 (.500
