The nice thing is, the men's soccer team finally got off the schneid and recorded their first win, and they host BG at 7 at First Energy Stadium, so since the football game will more than likely still be going on, if Kent is ruining homecoming for you, just leave and walk over to see some men's soccer, or the best team on campus right now may be the Volleyball team, are playing the Golden Flushes too...at 7:00 as well at the JAR. Who the hell does the scheduling for the Athletic Department that there are two other on-campus sporting events starting BEFORE the football game will be over??

At least we're home for this one....

Agree wholeheartedly. Let's face it, the guys who are leaving and were here last year or longer never really got a lot of PT under Terry either. With the exception of Andre Williams. I think they read the writing on the wall, or had a talk with Arth and found they weren't in his plans and are doing what Mr. Ward here says.....

Well stated TennZip. I've been waiting for an analysis like this. Jared and Caleb before him have had a real knack of recruiting talent, and as you stated and we know, this team is talent loaded. We've had top recruiting classes year end and year out. And this is no jab at all at Jared, but while we're recruiting talent, are we also looking at the intangible of finding players that fit the team chemistry? I know you can't see it until everyone's together on the practice fields, but sometimes you get a feel for it, a glimpse of it in their club team play. Are we looking for talent that plays together with teammates or just pure talent? Or is it that these guys play for so many different teams and clubs and national programs during the off-season that they don't develop team concepts and chemistry like Akron likes to play? Don't know, just kinda grasping at straws, because you are right about the lack of togetherness out there.

I looked into this a little further....the NCAA does not have a rule as to how many players can play in a season, they just have to be on the schools roster at the beginning of the season.....the average D1 roster or squad list is 30 players. Only 10 scholarships per year are allowed in D1 mens soccer, actually 9.9!

Well thought out post 72. Can't argue a lot on these points. But want to add, bringing back baseball should have been a positive, but per your thoughts on mindset, we're already being told to ratchet back our expectations due to the funding for scholarships, make up of the team etc. And stretching an already tight budget by adding WLAX and playing in a league mostly from the Southeast U.S. doesn't make for a winning feeling on campus or in the halls of Stile and the JAR.

Ya know, one of the best devices that someone showed me on the board earlier this season was the "ignore user" area under "settings". Ever since they talked about how to do it, I have not had to deal with dre's posts, and I am so much happier. Unfortunately, some times I still glimpse one when one of us quotes him in a reply, but for the most part he and a few others have disappeared from my view, and I'm much calmer these days.... ?

Capn, you are the best. Thanks for these pics and the summary. When I first went into sales, I had New England as my territory, but our company had us live in the NEO and travel out each week. I had an account in Amherst, and one in Pittsfield. Back then USAir was around and flying lots out of Pittsburgh, and I always flew CAK to Pitt and then to Albany NY to cover these accounts and the countryside was spectacular, plus I found several little 9 hole golf courses that still used sand tees. Great food all over. anyway, thanks again for passing on the flavor of the away games....

With all these guys portalizing, why do we need to see them on the field the rest of the way, or will that take care of itself? Hey, we're not going anywhere this season, we've been clamoring to see a change and see what we've got going forward, so hopefully we won't see #19 or whomever out there. Not that he was contributing a lot anyway. I know he appeared to have some talent, but it's not like he's been targeted that much, is there a reason for that?

I used to be a YUGE critic of Marla, but fknbuflobo is right.....she has been a positive supportive, but not a rah rah shish coom bah one....I just wish she'd take on all Zip sports and not just one.....could use something in place of GT.....

Just saw on gozips.com the Women's Lacrosse schedule....I am surprised that they start at home in February! at Infocision! Schedule is more late-winter than Spring. I kknow it's early but anyone anticipating seeing a game? I might, but have absolutely no knowledge of this sport, the rules, the scoring.....

played in 3 of 4 games sparingly (no CMU action) - 1 solo tackle, 1 assist. Has been #2 on depth chart for SS.

I was totally puzzled by Burkhart's on-field absence Saturday. Kept seeing him there on the sideline and saying "why?" to myself. These things never come to light. We can only guess, and my guess is some sort of team rule or school rule infraction. But nothing to base it on, other than he looked healthy, and was there, and they obviously could have used him. I thought maybe he'd just sit a quarter or a half, but I was wrong again.
