  1. Stevey Me Boy, I like this idea. I mean, I didn't "Like this", I mean I think the MAC Men's non-rev sports could benefit greatly from this. Track and Field is getting close to being a 2 team sport. Men's swimming and diving like-wise. Who knows about wrestling, gymnastics, etc.? You might make a good AD some day afterall....
  2. "Tons of People at the Spring Game?" If every person there weighed a pound, we would have had a ton and three quarters....
  3. LZip is correct...announced at halftime both in the stadium and in the boxes
  4. So...you're saying....there IS a chance!
  5. Not a bad weekend in Lexington for the Zips tracksters...tried to keep up with them on-line over the past few days. Phil Jaggers goes to Eugene fin discus or the Finals for the third time, but he's had a habit of letting his big brother from Kent edge him out in head-to-heads. Cody Stine, who was invisible the past few weeks surprised and is going back to Oregon as well, in the high jump. Matt Ludwig goes in Pole Vault as a favorite, I wold think, and Terrell McClain will be long jumping at Nationals. Jackie Siefring was already in as a Hep competitor and Nikki Manson will be in as a high jumper. Six Zips...not bad, but not where they were the past few years. Still...six Zips at the Nationals is pretty damn good!
  6. Exactly. This "compelling game" bull is nonsense. Back in 2015 we had started well, lost two in a row and had league leading Bowling Green coming in, and we needed a win. Tuesday night game on ESPN2, chance to show off the campus, the team, the school, No one showed up. No one. Compelling games bring out fans during the week? Baloney.....
  7. Liked it...was very upbeat and Ford had some nice things to say also. What's with the Swoosh? I thought UA was all Addidas?
  8. Them Somsabitches!
  9. Just got a look at the NCAA declared athletes for DI Regionals in Lexington KY next weekend! Hakeem Lawrence - 100 meter dash Jackie Siefring - 400 meter dash Miles Baldwin - 400 meter dash Nikki Manson - High Jump Curtis Richardson - High Jump Becki Szabo - Pole Vault Jacob Ross - High Jump Weronika Gaudin - Triple Jump Matt Ludwig - Pole Vault (#1 seed) Ariadna Ramos Gandia - Triple Jump Matt Rowland - Pole Vault Daniella Johnson - Long Jump Terrance McLain - Long Jump Abi Wilson - Shot Put and Discus Jordan Lattimer - Long Jump Michael Ohiembor - Triple Jump Phil Jagers - Discus (#3 seed) Maurice Harris - Discus Rodrigo Iglesias - Javelin And Jackie Siefring alread has a ticket to Eugene Oregon for the finals of the Heptathalon, seeded #9! Way to go Zippies!!!!
  10. I knew something weird was up when I was following live results on-line for the women's events on Saturday, but couldn't figure out how Daziah Green was so far behind in the 200 meter dash, and also what happened in the 100,, and also why Akron's 4 x 400 team was so slow....this explains it and also explains a lot about how Akron has embraced the team concept in track and field despite it being a grouping of individual events. A single point can make a huge difference...please read.http://www.gozips.com/sports/track/2016-17/releases/20170515o6eaaq.. Daziah - my new Zip Heroine....
  11. Hey...I found this on hustlebelt.com: The drop of men’s soccer in particular leaves the MAC in a bad place for the near future. Men’s soccer is an optional sport for conference membership and currently only has six member institutions (Akron, BGSU, Buffalo, NIU, WMU and West Virginia), the bare minimum for an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament. Hartwick was a former member, but recently moved to the Sun Belt Confernece. Losing Buffalo means the MAC has to find at least one new member within two years. Otherwise, they lose that auto-bid, which directly impacts Akron’s soccer program, considered one of the best in the country. So we've got that going for us....
  12. I thought that the MAC has 2 years to get to 6 teams before they lose the auto bid, am I wrong?
  13. Men win MAC Outdoor T & F....Women win MAC Outdoor T & F... Jackie Siefring wins Heptathalon and Matt Ludwig wins Pole Vault Friday, then yesterday Jordan Latimer wins Long Jump, while Daniella Johnson wins the Women's. Today it was the Men's 4 x 100 team winning with Hakeem Lawrence, Taron Slone, Miles Baldwin and Joe Harrington. Lawrence turns around and wins the 100 dash in a school record time, while Baldwin wins the 400 dash. Curtis Richardson wins the High Jump, Ariadna Ramos Gandia wins the Women's Triple Jump. But the multiple scorers in each event on both sides is what tipped the titles. Men continue to dominate a small-field Conference, while the women really performed this weekend in a 12 team Conference meet. That's men's and women's indoor AND outdoor Championships in same year! First time ever for the Zips. Don't think we'll have a lot of NCAA DI regional competitors....Lawrence in the 100, Siefring in the 400, Richardson and Cody Stine in the High Jump, Nikki Manson in the High Jump, Ludwig and Matt Rowland in the Pole Vault, Latimer and Terrell McClain in the Long Jump, Johnson in the Long Jump, Joe Ohiembor (men) Ramos Gandia and Weronica Gaudyn (women) in the Triple Jump. Phil Jagers in Discus and Rodrigo Iglasias in Javelin, and Siefring and Patricia Ortega in Heptathalon. 10 guys, 6 girls....not bad!
  14. Update - Hakeem takes 1st in 100, and on the 4 x 100 team...
  15. So why is it taking so long to see OUR schedule?? Why do we have to learn from good sleuth work from board members combing other schools' schedules who the Zips pay? When will we know the whole of it? I was thinking it had something to do with the loss of Buffalo from the MAC and trying to tie things down, but BG got their's out...
  16. Good luck to former Zip RB Hakeem Lawrence in today's MAC 100 meter dash Finals at Western Michigan...fastest qualifier yesterday....
  17. My son, a Wolverine alum, says there's a video on their video magazine that Beilein is agressively recruiting him also.
  18. Add Matt Ludwig to the short list of World Championship quality Pole Vaulters, as the Chardon sophomore posted the second best vault in Zips history, second only to Shawn Barber, with his performance at the Campbell Wright on a totally ugly day weather-wise. Vertical jumps moved indoors, but still count, and Matt's vault meets the World Championships standard, so we may see two Zippies at Worlds this Summer! Good luck to all Zips in Kalamazoo this coming weekend for MACs.

  19. Fond memories of being at Maryland for an NCAA tourney match and chanting Evan's name as he came out of the locker-trailer and having him run up to the stands and high five us crazies wearing leather vintage football helmets with A on them. (Don't know why we did that...maybe MGDs.). Zip lost i. A shoot-out I think, but Evan made so many saves to keep the Zippies in the match it was unbelievable...so good to see him doing so well. Ubiparapovic was on that team too.
  20. Dad is head coach at Jackson HS...played for Hiram. Coached at Norton early in his career. I think maybe Stow High grad? Dunno. Got hiis Masters at Akron. Colin looks pretty young, bit is a Columbus Crew Academy player.... looking forward to seeing him this next scolastic year to see what we have...
  21. Thanks kreed...I know, I know,...but I HAD to vent...
  22. I know this is preaching to the choir here, and I don't know where else to post this, but anyway...I'm travelling this week on business and I'm in the ice capitol of the world, Buffalo. The town has three pro teams, multiple high school teams, and a newspaper about the size of the ABJ. Low and behold, I picked up the morning paper yesterday at breakfast and there was an article on the U at B tennis teams! Two artlicles, one on the mens team and one on the womens team. And an additional article on the Buffs that made the NFL draft. And an article on the softball team was in today's morning paper. All in the same sports section that had articles on the Bills recent draft, NHL games, local high school games, etc. I kept rubbing my eyes, thinking how it would be nice to see just ONE article on a Zips team a week, let alone multiple ones each day! This story plays out for me every week. I'm travelling for business almost every week, and many times I'm in a college or university town for the evening,, and I see coverage EVERY DAY in the local paper about whatever sports the local U or C is involved in. Oh yeah, to make matters worse, the local Fox affiliate here in Buffalo ran a story last night about the UB softball team! Just needed to vent....thanks for listening....GT, you listening?
  23. Kinda slow day today, since the NFL draft is over and the Cavs haven't started their series with Toronto, but...I was wondering if anyone saw anywhere what the NCAA's feelings or findings were on the rule changes they tried during the 2017 tournament? Just wondering if any would be enacted soon, later, never?
  24. I'd love to be in a more competitive conference, even if it meant missing the NCAAs once in a while because we didn't earn our way. Love to wath the Zips play, but so many of the MAC games have been such yawners, and the style of play by other MAC teams is ugly. It'd be great to be in an 8-team competitive conference....IMHO.
  25. Wadzip...that was exactly what I was looking for...the IMG stuff great too. I'm kinda a novice about this route to Collegiate level. I just always assumed H.S. To NCAA was one step.
