  1. Ok, I did at Akron lol, maybe I misunderstood what your looking for. I thought you wanted an explanation of title nine & affect on the athletic program. Just out of curiosity if we didn’t have football how many programs get eliminated? Idk but if it was strictly financial there wouldn’t be any programs, the football program is the only one that can sustain them all. There is a lot in that statement and I’m not going on for days. I assume we all get it. All these points have been made throughout this topic and don’t need repeated but your question and answer gave the impression you know nothing about title 9 and affect on athletic programs. It really hurts a lot of schools. I hate stooping to your level but take a class on comprehension, I said to make the football program profitable. Didn’t say it was but it has potential, most of the other sports have no chance to sustain themselves & rely on the football team getting throttled in money games & the little ESPN contract to play mid week in November I was always taught when someone attacks a person personally they have no argument, try and make your point without the jab
  2. Arth calls the plays. Players don’t have to like coaches but respect is important and from the ones I’ve known you don’t want Gasser Not trying to be a jerk, just throwing what I’ve heard from some players
  3. Ok, I’ll try and explain, if you have a football program that is 85 scholarships, with title nine you have to then give 85 women scholarships, therefore there are usually more girls programs than boys. If your going to pay for all these scholarships your football program is the best avenue for this. Men’s basketball is next but isn’t capable of funding swimming & diving, cross country, track & field, softball, rifle. Of which we have some good programs but without football we don’t give those 85 scholarships and several programs are eliminated Make the football program profitable and it makes the whole athletic program more viable, IMO it’s critical, not easy but we got to get it figured out, I know the education is the most important part but the whole experience (education, athletics, campus life, internships, working, commuting) are all part of the college experience
  4. I believe Akron needs to make football a priority. Like it or not with title 9 at D1 your football program is critical for all the other sports. Getsy, I like his resume but would require a higher salary. Frye is another guy I’m interested in and may be more interested in rebuilding his old football program. I like these 2 because we are at a point who wants to come here. I’m hoping these 2 want to help there alma matter and save the program. Next, anyone know how long Infocision has name rights? They are not the same company as when field was built and doesn’t support anymore. This is where Akron needs to make a splash. It needs to partner with Matt Kaulig if he is willing to help rebuild this thing. Stadium becomes Leaf Filter Stadium and we partner and let Matt’s company run the marketing for football. TV commercial in the area pumping Akron football & Leaf Filter helping both companies. Make family game experiences fun like going to a rubber ducks game & figure a way out to get students, 5 extra bonus points for your class you need it most in. Don’t give them out until leaving at end of game. They turn them into class when they go for the extra credit. Get real concessions & tailgating going, maybe get some of the best local smokers set up in the tailgating lots to get the fringe tailgaters so it’s not such a big deal to tailgate. Just bring your cooler and can order some good smoked food and party. Winning will help but we need to build excitement about the program. It needs to be fun, the whole experience needs to draw people to come and stay. It can’t be like going to the dentist, you hate that & your gonna go once because you feel you have to and don’t come back cause the experience is worst than you remember. Unfortunately, that is where we are at right now.
  5. Pour a little salt on the wound, ex Hoban Nolan Rumler rumored to return home to his home town of Kent to play football for the Flashes
  6. Nobody seen BGSU coming this year, they are beating Can’t State
  7. I can’t believe this argument is still going on. It is what it is, it’s the system as it is designed. If you find yourself in the bottom 10 of FBS your probably not filling the seats in the stadium and need money games to survive The goal is to find that coach that can make the culture change (which at Akron would be a huge accomplishment) start to win & compete for MACC on a regular basis and create some excitement about the program and put butts in the seat. once this happens you become more selective in your money games. Bowden almost did it. He didn’t use all the social media platforms and advertising to build the excitement but he got to the MACC & we got more selective the year we had Nebraska & Northwestern and he blew his opportunity (I believe his stint at Clemson taught him to get people to use all the tools available) had to start over, unfortunately at this time it doesn’t appear Arth is capable, we probably will have our answer by end of next season, IMHO he is using all the tools available during season but is doing absolutely nothing in off season to drum any excitement up and he took the I will build it my way approach and cleaned house instead of using what you have & using the portal to speed the process up like Bowden did to better compete Unfortunately if he doesn’t take the next step to being competitive we will be starting the process over again and we will see what Guthrie is worth cause picking the right guy is HUGE, it isn’t easy
  8. Our Center is getting destroyed
  9. Crickets 🦗 🦗
  10. Oh No, we suck again
  11. BGSU just beat Minnesota WOW
  12. What your saying has some validity but there is a huge difference between a PWO who may never get a scholarship & a blue shirt who has a scholarship after the 1st semester
  13. Bubba was not a walk on but a blue shirt The blueshirt rule allows schools to put "unrecruited" athletes on scholarship once they arrive on campus, but count them against the next year's scholarship total, as long as they don't play. Here's what it means to be "recruited," according to the NCAA: Was provided an official visit to the campus; Had arranged, in-person, off-campus contact with a coach; or Was sent an NLI or other written scholarship offer. Coaches can contact players and have them on campus for unofficial visits — when the recruits pay their ways — without technically recruiting them. Essentially, as long as a recruit doesn't take an official visit or host one of that school's coaches, he wasn't "recruited" by that school.
  14. Worthless, they must lay the groundwork before these things cause there’s no way no one asked about QB status and outlook for that position this week.

  16. Spectrum has a streaming service that is better than youtubetv as I switched from them when youtubetv raised there prices and have had no issues with streaming any of their multiple channels they offer on spectrum, i also switched my internet from AT&T at the same time and the MBPS is much better and everything works better, security system, tv, gaming, cell phones
  17. Lol, have your fun, I’m hoping he makes it through today’s cuts
  18. https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/browns/browns-begin-making-roster-cuts-ahead-of-deadline-to-reduce-to-53-players Jojo Natson was cut today
  19. https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401281944 It also says we have a 1.1% chance of winning
  20. Right, makes him short, just sayin, he might be good though
  21. Pure speculation but that 2nd pic looks like 1’s on offense and Tony George at center. 6’2” 285 is a small D1 center
  22. 1. It’s not very accurate but 2 remember with Covid you can be in your 3rd year and be a red shirt freshman speculation but my guess on Gest, he is 24 probably got a masters, may have got hurt, decided it’s not worth battling back again & decided to go make some money & start his career
  23. Wouldn’t put much into that
  24. Wish him luck but I’ll never forget the Northwestern game when he had 7 penalties in the 1st half. Honestly I don’t know how he kept his job after that.
