To imply that this team is playing so poorly is because of their out of conference schedule is ridiculous.

Let’s face it, good Power 5 quarterbacks don’t end up at Akron because it’s their first choice. They end up here because it’s their last chance to be a starting D1 quarterback. Great info, as always, catdaddy. I have seen Finley make some great throws that were really impressive but also several really bad throws that far outnumber the good throws. Bottom line is that he is not a good enough QB for this team to a 90% passing team. They have to establish a running game to have any success. Maybe they should start using some more 2 tight end sets to help the running game and set up some play action passes. Something needs to change, one good drive and then multiple 3 and outs isn’t getting it done!

“our facilities are still tops in the MAC“ - maybe the stadium, but I assure you that everything else is not the best in the MAC, in fact probably lower half. Some high schools have nicer weight rooms, the locker room is tired and dated, and the indoor is dark, dreary, and very average at best. It’s a myth that our facilities are so nice. Go google Miami football facilities, or Northern Illinois football facilities, or Ball State football facilities, or Eastern Michigan…just to name a few.

There is plenty of blame to go around but Finley does deserve some. I remember several times he had a surprisingly clean pocket and made some really bad throws. QB’s get hit, it’s part of the game, you don’t just get a free pass to play poorly just because you’ve taken some hits. Not trying to pick on him, I think he has a lot of potential and has shown that he can play well but he deserves blame for playing bad.

Well, OSU, USC, and Rutgers are not playing at Akron. Very rare any P5 team plays at any MAC stadium. I get the point but no, the AD does not hate the football program. That’s a little dramatic. The football program is the only thing keeping the athletic department afloat.

I feel like this team just isn’t really improving. The defense does still show some promise but being on the field as much as they were, in that heat, and against that team, it was just a matter of time until the wheels came off. The offense is still pretty much a disaster. Finley looked terrible, he missed so many easy throws. I still say they need to establish the run. It actually was working some but Joe just kept going to that horizontal passing game. Looking forward to playing MAC teams but it will not be easy. Several MAC teams on this schedule played with the P5’s so much better than the Zips. I hate to say it but I really only see maybe 2 more wins coming.

My take on this game: first off, it’s great to get a win, no matter how ugly. Now, playing like that I just don’t think they could win another game on their schedule except maybe Kent. It seems like we’ve been talking about muffed punts and unsportsmanlike penalties for 3 years now - it’s maddening! It just keeps happening. Are the coaches just not addressing it aggressively enough or are the kids just too stupid? They STILL need to find a way to establish the run game. Passing too often with this offensive line is a recipe for disaster.

It’s an F’in rule- pretty simple. Do you think it’s just up to the interpretation of every official …c’mon man!

Could someone please just kick me in the balls, it would be much more enjoyable than this.
