It’s really frustrating. This program is invisible to The Akron Beacon Journal but in addition, very little media is generated internally from the program. Maybe they just don’t have the resources? But having said that, they could do interviews with an iPhone. 😡

Very well said, that even got me a little fired up! The only thing that I dispute, and I hear this all the time, is how great the facilities are. Granted, the stadium is first class (despite the big screen and scoreboard constantly in need of repair) and the best in the MAC but what else is great about the facilities? The locker room is horrible , the weight room is worse than some high schools that I've seen and the indoor is average. I hear that are some much needed upgrades coming - desperately needed!

This is nice but it means absolutely nothing. When he is ready to leave he will leave, and will make more money.

Does anyone know when the Zips start spring practice? I know they started really late last year because it was a new staff but haven't heard anything yet about this spring?

I am a big believer in Coach Joe but in my opinion this team absolutely has to make some significant progress in year two. With the portal these rebuilds can, and should, happen so much faster these days. I really think that a 6 win season and bowl game is very possible and should be the goal. I think we all thought that they would have more than two wins last season - and in reality they should have, but...it didn't happen. Despite a two win season, I still feel like there is some good positive momentum for the program and it just has to translate into some wins in 2023. Thoughts?

Apologize if this has been already mentioned but saw on twitter that our strength coach has left the program. This is a very important role for the program, hope they find someone good to replace him.

When a player enters the portal he is giving up his scholarship. While the majority of players in the portal have the blessing of the team, there are some players that the team doesn't want to lose. The team still has the option to keep them on scholarship if they come back.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can only carry 85 every semester. So starting in January they have to be at 85. Think about it, if that wasn't the case schools could carry 100 as almost a try out and they get rid of them at the end of the school year. I'm sure there are plenty that will not be back when school starts in January - they need to make room on the ship

You would think one or two of these will be gone next year and it appears only one addition (Cravaack) - unless they add someone from the portal.

If this guy is class of 2023 and it's this late in the game I seriously doubt that he has 5 offers still open and available to him. It makes a nice graphic but he likely only has Army (maybe) and one other. Most D1 schools have their recruiting classed all closed out by now. I guess we'll see

Agree, I'd even venture to say that most that hit the portal are told in a nice way that you aren't going to play here, go see what else is out there.

So there are 14 2023 commits and the transfer portal offers are flying out fast and furious. It's always hard to look at the roster and know exactly how many Seniors are coming back but it does seems apparent that this will be another year of major turnover on the roster. I guess it's just the new normal.

Obviously, losing the turnover battle 3-0 is the biggest statistic. But yes, there are some MEANINGFUL statistics that they won. When you win first downs 20-13 that is meaningful. That means you were moving the ball. When you have 316 yds passing and almost 400yds of total offense that is also meaningful. Any coach would tell you that those are meaningful. These stats but scoring only 9 points shows that you can’t finish. Their red zone efficiency is terrible.

This is what blows me away. You dominate the stats but still lose by 18 points. It’s like Groundhog Day every Saturday. I see so many things that give me hope but ultimately get kicked in the nuts again every week. Painful

If Irons stays it will be his job, no debate, but it is always great for a QB to early enroll to learn the system. If he progresses like JoeMo would hope it would be his job in 2024.
