The G5 - Power 5 gap will only get bigger but the Power 5 needs to establish some sort of “salary/NIL cap” so that the Indianas of the world have a chance to compete against the big boys. Well, obviously there is a balance needed for your out of conference schedule and having Ohio State does not help your chances of winning but every MAC team does it. It’s a much needed payday for MAC teams and it’s a reality. Saying that they’re out of conference schedule is tough and saying that this athletic department/football team is not trying to win are two very different things.

Are you implying that the SBC teams don’t play payday games? If so, you are dead wrong. All G5 teams schedule them.

Did anyone who was at the spring game notice how poorly lit the indoor facility was? So many lights were out in the ceiling that it seemed like they were almost playing in the dark. It’s another alarming sign how much this athletic program must be struggling for cash. So many different teams use that facility, this should be a very high priority for resources.

Wonder if it was God’s plan? Seriously though, hate to see him go. D1 football has become such a cruel business, nodody has time to develop. If you fall to a certain level on the depth chart it’s chop time and bring on the next.

Was really impressed by the whole scene today. Great weather, good crowd and some good football. Loved having the band there too, great atmosphere. Glad they had the pro shop and concessions open also. Football wasn’t perfect but really hard to tell where they are at this point.

My point is that what they are doing isn’t that different than a traditional spring game and I was curious why you are so adamant about not going. It is live football, they will be going full go, blocking, tackling, scoring, etc. It’s live action they just won’t be using some stupid, hard to understand scoring system that many teams use. Are you that concerned that you want to see the blue team win? White team? So many teams do it this way these days. Do what you gotta do but I just don’t get your logic?

I think they play those games to survive - not make money. All MAC teams play those games (maybe not as many as this coming year) but they are good to some extent. Next years out of conference is much more manageable.

Well they are losing their ass because they mostly lose. Their only chance of making some money is by winning. Your logic doesn’t make sense. I would also argue that they are trying. They could have signed a much younger, cheaper first time head coach if they truly were about saving money but they spent a lot more (by MAC standards) and signed JoeMo. I agree with you that the results just aren’t there and it’s very frustrating, but you can’t convince me that the AD and President don’t care about it.

You actually believe that they don’t want to win? That’s just stupid. You think the university and the athletic department don’t care? For the sake of argument let’s just say they don’t give a dam about football - they would still want them to win because of all the benefits that go with it: more income, more university exposure, etc etc. Unfortunately, they have backed themselves into a position where it’s a catch 22. They aren’t winning so nobody goes to the games, nobody goes to the games so they don’t get any revenue, then they have to schedule Ohio State away games to get the paycheck. Viscous cycle
