  1. I watche Zach play tonight at Cuyahoga Heights....game was a blow out 43-0 at the half so we left. He is quick and doesn't seem to have a run first style. Throws a real nice ball had two beautiful 30-40 yard passes that were right on the money -- could have only been caught by the receiver and was. He needed to scramble a few times and looked quick with great moves. I'll be there Thursday night to see Kirtland's TE and Zach against tougher competition.
  2. Listen....if you want to play slow music then play in a concert band or something. Our band as good technically as they may be is boring and I too am sorry if I offend anyone. I really like Galen and think he is a great guy who loves his job, but song selection is average at best. I don't care if the music died 50 years ago -- maybe there is a reason the music died. There are lots of modern songs that will not offend the old people and will get the younger folks engaged. The band members really seem to enjoy themselves...you can tell when they are in the stands playing....but the minute they hit the field most of the time they appear to be sleep walking. Here is a question I have regarding bands maybe you can answer....I think everyone agrees the HBCU schools have the best bands...why is that...why not look to them for something to copy? Why do the eschew the "traditional" glide step or slide step or whatever...if it isn't boring? I'm at the game to have fun get amped up and excited don't bring me down. Please don't compare the band bringing it down to me going to a concert and the band doing the same....it simply isn't the same. The band should set a goal of making people want to see you....people looking forward to your show. People run for the exits and don't care and others don't hardly pay any attention. Have some fun!
  3. My neighbor has been telling me about D'orazio from Cuyahoga Heights and I'm really intrigued to watch him play. Apparently they run the veer and he can throw when he needs to. He could be the dual threat QB of the future you are suggesting we need.
  4. and i get to field txt message after txt message from akron grads busting my balls because i follow my team while they root for the buckeyes....thanks zips....we are the people who catch the shit for your terrible play that is the bad part....
  5. welcome to the beginning of jd's final year in akron
  6. are you watching the same game as me? the o-line is letting the d-line into the backfield every play -- when the runs are going backwards it certainly doesn't make it easy for the pass -- the o-line is f'ing terrible
  7. offensive line is horrible...jacq isn't helping but the line is horrendous and they are almost all returners
  8. Stop bitching, take your wrist band off and buy a ticket!
  9. I don't even understand the joke? The people on this board bitch when the athletics department does nothing and then when they try to do something nice that costs a little -- you make fun of it? What gives? This is exactly the kind of event I would suspect for the general season ticket holder. My wife and I are probably going to go and we're looking forward to it. It isn't a tailgate -- it is the night before the home opener -- kind of a preview night. There have been plenty of free things if you can't afford $50. I will then be up and tailgating early the next morning for the home opener.
  10. Does anyone know if the playoffs will be housed at the Info? It would be great to get the State Championship game moved. I would also like to see some changes next year to include schools from NE OHIO playing neutral site games. Schools that are perpetually strong and turn out Div. 1 athletes. St. Ignatius, St. Ed, Glenville, Strongsville, Solon, Mentor, etc. they could play Canton schools or Akron schools.
  11. Are you playing that game at my High School alma mater? That looks like the gym from my High School....oh wait no it does my High school gym has a second level.
  12. This is the City Stars first year at this division. Great to see Evan notching the shutout. This could be the beginning of something big for him. I was talking with a guy at work who told me the City Stars are a Christian organization and their players often offer their testimony during public appearances. I had never heard this before -- can anyone confirm?
  13. The marketing department isn't worth a damn.It is funny, but Waddell was the most visible marketing person I've seen at Akron. Prior to him marketing meant giving away tickets. I love the idea of post game concerts. I was going to head out to see the Pittsburgh Pirates play a couple weeks ago because the Zac Brown Band was playing afterward. The concert was sold out. You read that right the Pirates sold out the game. It couldn't have been the Pirates had to be the band. Mack Rhodes was not a reach across the aisle partner kind of guy -- see alumni and development. Anything that gave the perception where he was giving up control was not his thing. Yurachek is worthless....I hope and pray they don't hire him. I look at the things he's been in charge of have done nothing. Finally, yes it is the marketing department's job not mine. I do my part --I buy tickets and I bring people to the games and I have to PAY for that privilege not get paid. I don't care how much they get paid -- I don't care if they are GAs -- that is there decision. How about you actually impress me with something creative. How about you do your freaking job. You know why they don't get paid much because there are 1,000s of people who want that job and I don't have to pay you that much because someone else will take it for that amount of money. Trust me on this one - I worked in professional athletics when I graduated in the mid 90s and I got $22,000. The next person they hired got less. A select few in athletics get paid decent money the rest get screwed. Go do something else if you want to make money and quit whining about your job. Move over and let someone else with will to be there give a shot.
  14. Can you copy and paste that to send to Mack, Proenza and the Board. That sounds about right.
  15. Cowards...How nice to see our nanny state continues and it keeps getting closer and closer to home.Retired Summit County Common Pleas Judge Jane Bond said drinking ''is a serious societal issue — particularly among our young people. I want us to make this a well-reasoned, deliberate decision.''That'll fix the problem...alcoholism will completely go away because we can't drink in the stadium. How nice of Judge Bond to fix all of society's woes or at least want to. What ever happened to accountability in this country.
  16. Dude did you even read my post? I bought $1 beer last year at Can't State. I bought them two at a time. Don't tell me no other MAC school sells beer when they sell it 15 miles away. Get a clue!
  17. Um...Ohio State and Michigan announced in May they were not printing Media Guides too. How come you didn't post this in May telling us how they were preparing to compete with the "little dogs"?
  18. Wow I thought this board was mildly young and I'm starting to think it is a bunching of freaking retirees. Are you all suggesting because the beer garden was off campus at the Rubber Bowl that was what saved the student for doing something stupid GP1? That is amazing...a foot off property is all it takes for student to not drink and act like fools? Have you people not been tailgating drinking beer in the parking lot? Hell I've had one of the Cap'n's own personal beers (I think it was Catcher and the Frye or something like that) yet it seems like the old fogies on this board seem to think it is alcohol in the stadium that ruins everything. I can't think of a dumber argument I've read on this board. Not to mention Coors Light is a corporate sponsor for crying out loud. No worries though we don't need the money. On top of that -- am I the only that bought $1 drafts at Can't State last year -- 2 at a time? Wow those friends really didn't get out of hand and trash the place, huh?For the record my understanding is Coors Light has the pouring rights to the lower level and Roo Brew will be available in the Suites and Club section. No word on whether Coors Light is going to actually be served. The campus is not dry it has a liquor license -- have you people not been on campus? Have you been to the Martin Center -- stop by some day for lunch they have a restaurant that serves alcohol, beer and wine.
  19. Can't remember been here since the blue board.
  20. Can we now please bring back Mike Waddel to be out AD. If anyone deserves the job it is him and I'd love to have him back....he really seemed to get it and although he may leave too -- I've never gotten the carpetbagger feeling from him.
  21. I'm guessing there aren't any bad seats in the stadium and I'm pretty sure they have pick a seat times in place for two weeks. As for student section it will be on the south side of the field both sides - three sections top and bottom as well as the grassy hill behind the goal posts.
  22. Both sections are there on the home side...they are together in one section. My guess is when they add it soon is it will connect to front of the second level. Got my seats on the aisle 9 rows up -- very excited.
  23. The Pouch as student section wasn't a statement of fact it was a suggestion if you wanted The Pouch you could use it for the student section. In fact I think the student section at the JAR was once named The Pouch. By the way -- never before have I seen a survey be so summarily shot down! Wow!
  24. Terrible nickname...I see nothing wrong with calling it "The Info" -- it rolls off the tongue. The Pouch is a fine name of the student section in the stadium.
  25. This program and post game shows have been terrible forever. I can't listen they are terrible. How is it during basketball and football season they can't have their own show? I've actually listened a few times to the CSU show with Gary Waters and it is really good. Andre Knott who graduated from St. V does the show is extremely prepared and does a great job. The show is on WTAM (um needless to say a very big signal) and the shows are archived on www.wtam.com Andre Knott shows up on morning and afternoon drive and his knowledge of the Vikings has allowed him to chime in regarding them from time to time. I'm sure it costs the program cash and I'm sure it is worth every penny. I never intend to listen, but stop as I'm flipping through stations. My suggestion would be to put the show on WKNR and hire an actual radio announcer on the program to do the show. The Zips live show is terrible and for me has been basically unlistenable. I don't care about the othr ancillary sports -- turn them into an interview for www.gozips.com so there dozens of fans can listen whenever they want.
