So we should be moving up from our #67 ranking. Success in any sport is generally good for all others as well. Good for them. And as an addendum to the JUCO/transfer etc. discussion over on the basketball forum, has anyone noticed the hometowns of the majority of the tennis players? Only one is from the US. I'm not saying whether that is good or bad but it definitely is a situation where the coach did what he felt he had to do to for the team to be successful.

It was a whiteout...Speaking of that, loved the guy in the white Darth Vader costume. About the only thing that entertained me the whole night.

If Can't does get knocked off, I hope BGSU is not the one to do it, They are on our side of the bracket. I think secretly, most people are not that upset with getting the three seed if it had come in a hard fought game, its just the perception is now that we have very little chance to beat Can't. And quite frankly the beatdown loss to them in the finals two years ago was just as bad to me as the Penno shot (the only thing that could have been worse is is Penno played for Can't). This also points out the flaw in using a tournament to determine a champion. I don't think that many people would argue that Can't deserved the league title this year, buit I am OK if we take it from them. I wonder if there is an outside chance if we beat them in the final, they might pick up an at large, so the MAC could have two teams for the first time in a decade. I think the league office should try to make this happen.

It was very disappointing, and at this point I don't think we have a chance. We do great against DIV II and weak Western Div teams. Big deal, that's not going to get us anyplace. But I must say, the shot selection was just so disappointing.Zips are clearly better than anyone else in the MAC except Can't and in a one game final (assuming we both make it there - and we should) Zips can still win it. Plus Can't State sometimes wil take a game off and they have a pretty rough road to the final. They take a game off anywhere and they're done.

3 seed is not much of a consolation prize, but at least we can get one more shot at the Flushes. At least all of the East teams are in their side of the bracket making an upset a little more likely. We can't play that badly against them three straight times, can we?

I don't expect a lot of activity on this tonight (until later) but for those of us that are not able to attend the game, we need to have this ready. Go Zips!

Nice little shout-out to ZipsNation from Marochino and co. just a few minutes ago. Yeah we're listening. (and I'm pretty sure I spelled Marochino right ).

Would you also agree that water is hot when it is boiling? It depends upon the atmospheric pressure:Classic, have any triple point graphs to go with it? (Maybe like for Singletary so we know how much pressure to put on him to make him exceed hs boiling point?).

Before the Zipmeister does it, I'd pay to see that.

The Miami error was mine, Dave, you remembered it right. Didn't hose things up too badly other than that. Its set now.1. Akron/Can't2. CMU3. Can't/Akron4. Buffalo/Miami5. Miami/Buffalo6. EMU7. WMU8. Ball State (if they had won they would have been the #2 seed)9. Ohio10. BGSU11. NIU12. Toledo

I will pick Brett McClanahan as the Jawanza Moore of 2010.Obviously not because it is his final game at the JAR (unless someone knows something I don't), but because he has played EXTREMELY well in is limited minutes lately. Brett's 3-point stroke is looking very good, and he's taking advantage of his limited minutes, not pouting. My second choice would be Ronnie Steward. He allows the Zips to play at a totally different pace...he's like throwing a fast ball, after McNees has been tossing knucklers and change-ups.The Jawanza Moore effect (or Moore's Law as some know it ) only seems to apply to someone whose last game is in the JAR. That would likely mean Chris McKnight, Jimmy Conyers or Tim Carroll. I think Jimmy will have a fine game but its Chris's K(night), so the Jawanza Moore effect goes to him.

Anyone need a Can't State joke this week?

Q: How do you locate Can't State's campus from Akron?A: Go east until you smell it and then north until you step in it. -

Actually on the Can't State message boards, they are attempting to organize a "gold" shirt response (don't they understand their color is yellow - works on a lot of levels). I hope they do, it will make them easier to identify and eliminate. -
As long as they are not satisfied with just "Being There", they'll be fine. Man you stretched a little with that one. :)This is the first time in a long time I can remember there was no ATM game, so at least there is a punchers chance of winning against every team we play.

My original estimate didn't include the SRO crowd but since a lot of them are rowdies, I don't think it raises the till too much. From what I understand the Zips only sell season tickets for the number of seats they actually have available which is where my original number came from. With the womens tickets being so cheap and their finally putting a reasonably interesting product on the floor, here's hoping they see some upswing in their season ticket holders too.And while Zach is probably correct on getting a split of the NCCA tournament money, that's a pretty small pot. There may not be anything even left to split after the expenses are paid.

We played Ohio State in the NIT in 1989.It was a very tight game. OSU had Treg Lee, Chris Jent and I believe Jay Burson? The Zips Eric McLaughlin blew out his knee late after being thrown under the scorers table by an opposing player, and we couldn't recover.Instead of OSU, we would stand a very good chance of playing Dayton or Cincinnati should we end up in the the 2010 NIT.If your point is only that you'd rather be in the NCAA tourney than the NIT...or that participating in the NCAA tourney is more exciting than the NIT...why bother posting it? Who wouldn't rather be in the NCAA over the NIT? No one.Fixed.Fixed again.A lot of beers between March of '89 and March of '10. Feel free to correct post inaccuracies at any time. Now back to the beer... Does your boss know your drinking on the job? Does yours know about you wasting time on the Internet? Oh, wait ...

Just to be clear, I was in no way calling GP1 a troll, simply pointing out that since he had come up with a vaugely similar plan before SI posted theirs, it might give him a reason to try to put another great in front of his name. No one wants that.

I'm opposite. I like it. I hope it toughens our team up. I'm excited about Kentucky and plan on going. I bet the players from last year feel like they IU one. They know they can play with em with PN16 at the helm. Not a bad point.. I guess it does have its perks. Still a little confused on the absence of the bye weeks in the schedule unless we're getting them at the beginning and end of the schedule. If thats the case, thats going to wear on our players more than the back-to-back road games against BCS conference teams. You can look at the bye week as being either the 13th or 20th of November. Its just that the Miami game on Wednesday got stuck right in the middle of that time. For a Wednesday game, that's not so bad.

SeeTee, I feel more like you every losing season at Akron. That's another reason why our soccer program is rising by leaps and bounds. Next season, you may need a season ticket to get in the gate to see Porter's Prospects. Is there potential for men's futbol to be revenue neutral with a sold out stadium via season tickets? I'm not asking is it possible to sell out the season as season ticket packages .. what I'm asking, is there enough capacity at LJF that if you sold every seat for every game, would men's futbol pay for itself?Currently season tickets are $50 (great deal by the way, I only got to use mine once last year and still consider it a bargain). With 1500 seats thats $75,000 and thats not near enough to sustain the program when you consider the total budget (coaches salaries, scholarships, travel). Even if you sold out the entire new stadium at 4,000 seats that's only $200K which doesn't leave much after you pay Porter (who is worth it). So not likely the soccer program will ever be self sustaining. My guess is the only self sustaining program on campus is mens basketball.
