  1. Sad thing is that every MAC school expect Toledo once fielded a soccer team (Toledo may have but we never played them). Of the remaining six schools only CMU (once) and Ohio (3 times) ever beat us (maybe that's why they all dropped out? More than likely it was title nine issues, I'm betting). Just a darn shame that we can't hold a conference together that had so many members playing the sport at one time. :(By the way, Zip_ME87, no response from the MAC office on your inquiry?
  2. There are five characters in this scene. That number would seem to match up well (not nicely ) with another sports team on campus?
  3. Last ex-Notre Dame coach we hired didn't work out all that well (of course he didn't have any national championships on his resume).
  4. While there may be some correlation, it really doesn't matter that much. Point of reference, Mike Bardo's brother is "only" 6'3". Heart matters a lot more then height (even though height helps).
  5. Man a few of those are brutal - but they are very funny. I bet the one that said since a lot of Buckeyes fans are bandwagon fans why not join the UC bandwagon? - may have hit just a little too close to home. #4 and #9 were my favorites.
  6. I think his height upside is very good. He grew two inches just between these two articles.
  7. Its a slow process unfortunately, you have to have a winning team to draw the attention. It was a lot easier with basketball, but soccer still carries some cachet. I try to talk to team up to anyone I know, especially UA alumni. A national title will help, at least it will be some recogniton. But in 1986 we made it to the National final and still not a lot people know that.
  8. I always wondered what in the heck that phrase came from but in any case College Soccer News included the Zips as one of their Six Questions You Might Want to Ask feature.Spoiler Alert: They think we could.
  9. If this is true it really would be reason to exit the MAC, however, I'm inclined not to believe it. That doesn't make sense. Not like it really matters to us this year, but it could in other years.
  10. I thought you just created the title, pretty funny that was their title.
  11. Well deserved indeed. But Sewell not making the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd teams is absurd. But sadly, beyond Sewell, is there anyone you think they overlooked? I was even a little surprised Woods made it. I'm very happy to see that Wagner made the first team though - very impressive.
  12. Man, I'd love to be at that one but logistics just don't seem like they'll work out for it. If the season continues to go like it has and the Zips take care of business like they should, this could actually be the last road game of the year until a possible College Cup appearance. Three home regular season games, two possible MAC games and three possible NCAA tournament games.
  13. Absolutley the wrong groups to be using as a methaphor for this season. What this team really needs is a hungry heart to return them to their glory days to help lead them to the promised land. What we really need is a back that was born to run and a defense that is murder incorporated. Until then we're just dancing in the dark in this hard land. Or maybe I just spent too much time at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame while I was up last weekend.
  14. I sincerely hope that any player regardless of team would ignore pretty much everything on these kinds of boards. If they want to have a screener let them know when something nice has been said about them, great, but I hope they personally avoid these kinds of boards like the plague. Very little good would come from it. These are fan boards and we're allowed to be fanaticists on here like we should be but for a kid who's giving everything he has and still coming up short doesn't need to see the kind of treatment they'd get on here. I don't think there is a ban on athletes looking at these kinds of sites but I'd hope common sense would tell them to stay away (until they graduate and then we welcome them to be fanatics like the rest of us ).
  15. Nagbe with goal number three! I think someone is annoyed he hasn't been named to any "team of the week's".That's gotta be disheartening for Michigan. Nagbe gets pulled form the game after his third goal only to be replaced by ... Teal Bunbury.
  16. Don't know if that's what you were going for, but I definitely heard the Sam and Dave tune "Soul Man" in there. Think how strange it is that we're disappointed that we gave up a goal to Michigan (on their turf!). Even the tOSU supporters should be happy about how this is going.
  17. Especially since the other team gets the ball to start. Someone made a quick steal. We even have more goals than they have yellow cards right now. Maybe Michigan can step that up in the second half.
  18. Nagbe's goals were scored 31 seconds apart. Hope there is some video somewhere on that.
  19. I left for five minutes for a phone call and we go up 3-0. I'm going to ignore the game again.
  20. Still at the top, have moved up in several categories. David Meves has not even had to average 1.5 saves per game - only 21 total shots on goal at him with 19 saves - that is an amazing testament to the defense. The leader in Save Percentage category has had almost 90 shots on goal at him. Man, I'd hate to play behind that defense. As far as tonights game goes, I'm expecting a tough one. 1-0 Zips with goal coming in the second half from Teal Bunbury assisted by Michael Nanchoff.
  21. I'd love to be Sweet Polyanna Purebread Sunshine, but I have to call them as I see them. I can't see the Zips getting it done in Buffalo with a freshman QB starting (much as I like him). Bulls 21 Zips 14 since agreed, neither of us is likely to make a field goal.
  22. You are all ignoring that awful shanked rugby punt in the our very first drive of the OU game. OUR "special" teams are worse, darn it!
  23. Got a few props on their board for the folks we brought down. http://www.techsideline.com/message_board/olympic/I think that's great that some Rowdies were able to make the trip. We earned some respect for not only the victory but a little bit for our support of the team. I know this is thinking way ahead and I "shouldn't" do it, but the College Cup is in Cary, NC this year (last year it was in Dallas) so at least it is within driving distance. I know I will be nervous as heck every single NCAA game. You just don't know what could happen and it is a one and done tournament. I know there is still a lot of season left but I can't wait for the NCAA playoffs to start.
  24. Not much buzz around the Va Tech board over the game tonight. I found one link that just wondered how in the world Akron could be ranked #1? That's about it. I politely let them know that we are very proud of our #1 ranked team and our school.http://www.techsideline.com/message_board/...er/13/47555.php
  25. The graphic above needed just a tiny bit of help.
