  1. 6-6 looks actually possible. Far from a guarantee but possible.
  2. Just for fun I was looking back at recent Akron successes in the MAC tournament. Akron was first eligible for the MAC tournament in 1993, it didn't even qualify for the tournament at all until 1998 and won only three games total until 2007 when it made the final (although the previous year the Zips were seeded third and their one win put them into the semifinal a streak that would continue for 12 years, then two years of not making the semifinal, then making at least the semis every year since it has been played). Despite the Zips never making a championship until 2007, and not winning one until 2009, they are 6-6 overall now (only one behind the three all-time leaders Ball St, Ohio and Kent (all of whom have made at least 32 appearances). Zips have 17. Despite the Zips having won only three games by 2007, they have the highest winning percentage in MAC tournament history at .607. Zips have as many wins as they have missed championship appearances since 2007. Just wanted to put in a little thanks to Keith Dambrot and John Groce for making these last 20 years so enjoyable. Now go win an NCAA tournament game (for us!). 🤣
  3. Zips can still make playoff without winning this game but man what a disappointment if they can't pick up three at home against Marquette. Creighton (3 points ahead of the Zips) plays Seton Hall (2 points ahead of the Zips). Rooting for the tie. 😊
  4. And yet another perfect inning in relief for Bassitt in an epic World Series game. Bet the Blue Jays wish they had stuck with him a little longer in a game they desperately needed extended pitching moments. He still has a 0.00 ERA in this postseason.
  5. UConn and Providence tie - probably the best result for the Zips. Zips now tied with both of them for fourth place with 10 points.
  6. Pinky - just out of spite. 😊
  7. And Bassitt has an excellent inning of relief in the 8th in game 7 of the ALCS.
  8. Excellent - it looked pretty scary. 👍
  9. At the moment Akron would not be one of the four teams to make the Big East tournament, but they do control their ability to do so. At the moment they sit tied for sixth place with St John's and Butler. St John's holds the tie breaker over the Zips but the Zips hold it over Butler. Standings are as follows (although the East and Midwest division leaders will each get a slot regardless of point totals). Georgetown 13 Creighton 10 UConn, Seton Hall, Providence 9 St John's, Zips, Butler 7 Villanova 6 Xavier 5 DePaul 1 Marquette 0 The "easy" way for the Zips to get in is win their last three. Then it won't matter what Creighton does in their other two games because the best they could do would be to tie the Zips and the Zips would hold the tiebreaker. But barring passing Creighton, they need to sneak ahead of three of the four of Uconn, Seton Hall, Providence and St. John's. The good news is all of them play each other at least once and some twice, so we probably want to root for a lot of ties. 😂 And the Zips really need to take advantage of playing two of the three bottom teams before they get to Creighton. If they can pull off two wins and at least a tie against Creighton, I think they're in. Going to be an interesting last few weeks.

  10. We gave up 42 points to a team that scored zero last week. Well he's not a defensive genius. 😊
  11. Is there an unwritten rule that if the opponents offense gives you five yards on a false start you have to jump off side and give it right back to them?
  12. That didn't last too long. Toledo 45-10.
  13. This has become unwatchable again.
  14. Watching a bit of Georgetown DePaul, just had a called penalty kick for DePaul overturned on a VAR review. Plus I noticed DePauls soccer field doubles as their softball field - with a whole skinned infield in the corner. Akrons facilities are better than some of the Big East for sure.
  15. Disappointing draw - still ticked off about that VAR review. 🤣
  16. Seton Hall gets called for offsides on their goal and gets overturned on VAR. I don't see how they possibly could have overturned it.
  17. Seton Hall's soccer field is the outfield of their baseball stadium
  18. Gotta admit I'm rooting for the Mariners but it was nice to see Bassitt have a good outing tonight.
  19. But back on for the ALDS. 👍
  20. Number of unique posters (not including me since measuring something changes that thing) that actually posted during the game - 10. Excitement has never been lower.
