Of course you're referring to the season ending saving us from 0-12 victory over the Bulls on Thanksgiving weekend. My brother-in-law and I were at that game and it was cold. We were bundled up like Canadian hunters. My uncle had just died and his funeral was in Canton after the game so we took our funeral clothes (had them just in case the Zips lost too :-)) and drove call. We had called to make sure we would have a place to change and we're told it was no problem. Well it wasn't but we had to walk right through the mourners in this cold weather gear with Zips logos everywhere. My uncle was the kind of a guy that wherever he was I guarantee was laughing his head off over that sight. :-)

You must not have read too closely, if you look up about four posts Balsy talked about it (and I had mentioned it an another thread).

After just a couple weeks of the MAC season it is pretty apparent there are no juggernaughts in the East including the Zips. The Flashes look awful, the RedHawks, Minutemen, Falcons and Bulls all look like they can score but have no defense (and the Minutemen made an inexplicable decision at the end of the game to lose. Down by one with three seconds to go they went for a touchdown instead of field goal. That shows a lot of confidence in your kicker). And OU just got dropped by CMU, and might be the closest team to being like the Zips but they have a much more difficult West schedule drawing NIU. So the Zips have as good a shot as anyone - we actually might be the team with a defense and an acceptable offense. Plus it looks like the top three teams in the west might be CMU, Toledo and NIU and we play none of them. Ball State does not look nearly as imposing as last year. The Zips have a real opportunity in front of them.

But not an impossible challenge, they are nowhere near as imposing as they were a few years ago. 4-4 with losses to UCLA and Cal (both in Winston-Salem) and Va Tech and Clemson. And how do they get 13 home games and only 5 away? Zips lead the all time series 3-2-1.

MAC names players of the week. Only one Zip was named and it was not Hundley, Scott nor Paul. Heartily disagree.

Well the experts did predict a big day for Conn(e)(o)r. They just didn't get the right one. How about the day from DeAndre Scott and Zach Paul? Zips could get offensive, defensive and special teams players of the week (and if Scott's pick 6 had counted, I think they would). Heck of a day.

I wasn't quite sure where to put this but wow - unbelievable this could have gotten past all quality control. Making fun of our Rival is all well and good but I hope no one is thinking of getting something like this - a "vintage" K.S.U. sweatshirt with what looks like blood stains on it. Unbelievable. Almost as criminal is the fact that it costs $129.

Remember that Pitt is playing in Akron next year (assuming it doesn't get bought out) and that Indiana and Syracuse have played here in recent years.

This could be a reason why. I'm not saying its 100% accurate (can't be because K.e.n.t ended up above the embarrassment line ). This was published by the Wall Street Journal and took a large number of factors into account. The Zips rank low is esteem and play. Not hard to figure out why a community has trouble rallying around the team. Most people want to be associated with winning (except for this group of masochists - well honestly all of us would like to be to but we chose to stay loyal to an alma matter that football-wise has given us very little in return).

But they got them at Kansas. I think the Zips could take on those types of games but they'd have to play on the opposing teams court all of the time too. I'd like to see a bit stronger of an OOC schedule but the Zips really drew bad luck in the double crossover opponents from the west this year - they get Toledo and WMU twice. Ugh. Do not like the 18 game schedule, I thought the 16 game schedule where you play your own division twice and the other once was just fine.

When I saw the post I thought it was U-Wisconsin - Green Bay, but this is much different than that. Good he gets another chance and probably learned some big life lessons the hard way. Good luck to Alex and thanks for some great memories.

Just saw a piece on Blake Bortles where he showed all of the D-1A offer letters he got out of high school: UCF, WKU, Purdue, Tulane and Colorado State. That was it for the eventual third pick in the draft.

Its only a little over three hours for me to get there and I got seats in section WE, row N so I will be fairly close to the action (last time I was at least this close at a road game was at Michigan so hoping for the same effort but different result ), sitting with a cousin who is a Penn State fan so Zips I really need this victory. I give the Zips about a 25% shot which is way better than I would have given them at this game five years ago, so a well played game could be historic for the Zips. Plus our next three opponents all got votes in the ORV category so the Zips have some real opportunities in front of them.
