  1. I have it still on ESPN3. But you might be better off. With the foul fest going on this is borderline unwatchable.
  2. What's the saying in Green Bay? Relax :-)
  3. What's the saying in Green Bay? Relax :-)
  4. Good to see Jake back in too. Not a great start but it's still early
  5. Guess Pat either didn't have a broken rib or decided to play with it because he's in
  6. That's a pretty tough OOC schedule for 2017 as it is and since the Zips will need a home game with likely no return visit, it looks like another FCS opponent will be in the works. I'm OK with one cupcake. :-)
  7. After careful consideration I have decided what's best for the Zips is to have both Ohio and WMU lose with the Zips winning (odds of Toledo making the G5 slot are pretty small anyway). That would give the Zips a tie with CMU for the fourth best record in the league and probably gives them a little bit better bowl. Go Huskies, Rockets and Zips!
  8. Planning on coming in as well, having a game over the Thanksgiving holiday does give people an opportunity to come back and visit family and go to the game. I'm giving thanks because it means something this year. And if we did lose our coach lets talk to another successful SEC coach, I can't believe there is talk that LSU might pay $20M to let Les Miles go. Ludicrous.
  9. So Toledo is back in the rankings, do we root for them to win the MAC and with all the American Conference uncertainty maybe sneak their way into the G5 bowl position? Just thinking of the money that would bring to the MAC vs. giving a rival conference team a possible leg up. Kind of undecided. That would also mean that we'd have to root for Ohio which would put them tied (and by head to head - ahead) of the Zips if the Zips beat Can't. I don't want to root for that. So it could be that the MAC's highest ranked team won't make the MACC.
  10. With two weeks left in the season, there are only 71 bowl-eligible teams -- those with at least six wins. The possibility remains that some bowls may have to take sub-.500 teams to fill out the bowl landscape now largely left unregulated by the NCAA. But isn't it cool to know we are actually one of them? With LZip's analysis it looks like 9 more teams could actually make it and hopefully that ends the debate. It would tick me off to no end if they decided to let 5 win teams in at the expense of those that are bowl eligible. I hope they make the ruling that sub 500 teams can only be taken if the bowl eligibility pool has been exhausted, so I am rooting for those other nine teams to make it. That should make it moot.
  11. 80 - there are actually 41 bowls but it includes the FBS Championship game.
  12. The Zips could actually finish ahead of Ohio which could give them a leg up on a bowl bid. If the Zips beat Can't OU will have to beat NIU (who needs the win to win the west) or the Zips will finish ahead of OU.
  13. I'm calling it now - BOWL ELIGIBILITY!!!!
  14. Happy for Alexander - he's been busting his ass this year too. And the CBS announcers are having trouble telling the number 12 from 13. They were insisting Woodson had been disqualified. It was Davis which is kind of disappointing from a senior who's had such a great year.
  15. I believe the conversion experiment of Jerome Lane to WR should be declared a success. :-)
  16. Kwan Cheatham Jr. 8.7 Jake Kretzer 10.3 Reggie McAdams 13.3 Isaiah Johnson 11.0 Pat Forsythe 10.0 Aaron Jackson 6.3 Antino Jackson 13.7 Discounting the newcomers, everyone's scoring average is up (except Pat who is dead even). But with a very limited sample set (and the fact he's had to play a lot more minutes than anticipated) Antino is the early leader (Reggie close behind). By the way at the Charleston classic last year before he was really getting any playing time he walked up to me to introduce himself as though he was someone I should know. Seemed quite confident, I guess that was the real deal. And even though Hiram only sort of counts when was the last time the Zips started a season 3-0? It hasn't been in the last 15 years. There's a bit of a buzz about the Zips with their P5 wins they've have taken over the last five years: MIss. St., Penn State, Oregon State, USC (both ) and Arkansas. Pretty good list. Would be a really big buzz if they could pull of the Villanova upset.
  17. I get to go see an undefeated Zips team take on the #11 team in the country Sunday. Thanks Tino, great game but we can't expect him to go 40 minutes every game. He needs some teammates to get healthy.
  18. To be clear, he passed Taylor's single season record of 10, with 10.5. Taylor still holds the career record of 21. Brown has 16.5 right now, I would not be disappointed if he passed Taylors career record either.
  19. OK so its not a big game but should still be noted. And by local custom early in the season the sound guy forgot to turn the mic on. :-)
  20. Odd thing to think about but you know after years of success and a National Championship (which wasn't that long ago) maybe, just maybe, Akron is now a NAME. Couple that with an excellent schedule and perhaps the soccer team has truly arrived - I've read articles recently where Akron has been identified as a college soccer titan. Perhaps respect has finally been earned.
  21. Number 4 - I am OK with that!!!!
  22. NCAA is supposed to be showing it here.
  23. So as of today 62 teams have at least 6 wins, 35 have at least seven losses with 31 (including the Zips) on the cusp of bowl eligibility with no more than six losses. 14 of the 31 (Ga St, Kentucky, Vandy, Washington, San Jose St, Rice, FIU, UTEP, ECU, Kansas St, Texas, Indiana, Nebraska and Minnesota) already have six losses so those are the ones we should probably be rooting against to help the Zips. CMU is almost certainly going to make it (they have Can't and EMU left), so that would give the MAC six eligible, so the Zips will probably need as many conferences as possible not to fill their slots, and losing to the Bulls might well get the Zips left behind because they would be a seventh team eligible and would probably drop the Zips to an eighth place MAC slot. That isn't likely to get it done. The Buffalo game is huge.
  24. Nice shout out for the Zips from the announcers at the World Cup qualifiers with Yedlin and Nagbe in the game at the same time.
