  1. Someone mentioned in another thread about the Zips getting absolutely destroyed by OU at home a couple years ago and that season still turned out all right. Toledo looks good and we don't match up well against them but I'm not ready to crown them by any stretch yet. This may not be the best Zips team we've seen but they are still good and will be in the thick of things at the end. Not convinced that EMU is all that special yet (and for those that are how would you like to be OU who has both Toledo and EMU twice), and I still predict a 14-4 MAC record which would give the Zips 22 wins for the 9th straight year. No panic after one bad game.
  2. Nicely done - wish the Zips had shot that well. Forsythe and Boothe might be distant cousins.
  3. Thought we were the better rebounding team and that Toledo couldn't play defense? No answer for Weatherspoon and another unforced turnover fest. Rockets have 11 offensive rebounds in the first half. Zips don't even gave that in total rebounds. Outrebounded 22-10. Ugh.
  4. Wrong topic.
  5. They stated it that way but what I think they did was pick the representative worst teams from over the entire decade. Good thing they didn't take more than one team from each school or we might have been playing ourselves in the championship.
  6. The torch passing comment might be a little early, but I have to agree with his logic, however, this is a team that lost to WMU and barely beat Buffalo so they are no juggernaut. Zips can win this one.
  7. We're back in for now since we lead the MAC - as a 15 seed against Villanova. But at least that game would be in Buffalo.
  8. Worst thing is that the "championship" game that they cite sort of happened in 2012 and the Zips lost that game - I have no doubt the 2011 Zips were fully capable of losing it too - so really the 2011 Zips are the rightful national champions.
  9. Translating the above - Derschang was picked with the 8th pick in the second round by Phildelphia and Stevenson the 15th pick of the second round by New York.
  10. Akron is the last undefeated team in conference. Toledo knocked off Buffalo on an absolute buzzer beater, having only 2.4 seconds to make the shot. Glad to see Toledo get the win, in addition to helping us with Buffalo should bring a little more buzz into the game Saturday. Wake up early Zips and be ready to go.
  11. Good win, I think Miami might be a .500 MAC team this year which is way better than last year. Harney had a very good game again, maybe he is really starting to figure things out now. Betancourt looked better (couple nice assist, a spin move for one of them, a three) maybe he's gaining some confidence. And as I saw KD walking across the floor I realized he is the "dean" of MAC coaches now.
  12. Not a good first half, Zips lucky to be down only one (of course Miami's play had something to do with that).
  13. Ah the audio is fantastic, just as we've come to expect. Sounds a lot like a constant, irritating, buzzing noise.
  14. The MAC really looks wide open, after WMU beat Toledo and then won close against Miami, the highest scoring team in the league after two games drops a 37 point "effort" to EMU last night. Zips and Buffalo are the only two teams that haven't lost yet (and Buffalo's two wins were at home against the West). If the Zips can pick up the win tonight, that will be an excellent start.
  15. Small aside for Pat, has anyone noticed that he's is 9-11 from the field in MAC play? Get him the ball more!
  16. That is cute, he looks meaner than Tree , anyone know who the little guy is or is he just a fan like the rest of us?
  17. We need to get this discussion back above the Toledo game. before the season started this would not have been on my list of worry games, but the way the RedHawks have been playing, the return of a very good player for them and coming right between Ohio and Toledo is a concern. I'm not ready to call it as a loss but I will bet it wll be a very tight game. Good thing it is at home. Zips by 5, 67-62.
  18. Very clever, but shouldn't he really wear 55?
  19. I think we should return the favor - to counter "Zipcars" we should give away "Flashdrives". Only things are they would smell like patchouli and they wouldn't work after college is over. There would also be a warning label not to try to smoke them or use them as a frisbee.
  20. Other notables have transferred (Ben Speas) before, as long as it doesn't become an epidemic, the Zips will be OK. Perhaps Foldesy didn't feel he fit in. Hard to know what's in the head of a 20 year old. Good luck to him (except when the Hoosiers play the Zips).
  21. From the look of your post(s) I'm guessing said fan was you? I find it bad form to go onto an opponents board and gloat after a tough loss as we would have all been feeling the same way had the same thing happened to the Zips. Losing at home to a hated rival when you were up by nine late in regulation and then by six late in OT? That's a stomach punch loss. Kudos to the Zips for never quitting. I think Jake Kretzer always torturing (torching?) them in their own building is punishment enough. Doesn't look like a domiant team anywhere in the conference so looks like the Zips will likely be in the thick of things once again. I don't think a 14-4 is out of the question. Ohio isn't fabulous but beating them at thier place (only twice in the last 22 MAC games there has that happened, and both were by the Zips) is a good win. Wouldn't count OU out either. Toledo looked like they might be the class of the league but WMU brought the down to earth, but then they they barely beat Miami on the road (but maybe Miami is better). Buffalo is the only other 2-0 team but their two wins are EMU and NIU both at home. Nice start for the Zips to win two on the road. And Ndour looks like he is a helluva player.
  22. The Ball State discussion only started one day before that game and they are a way bigger rival than OU. I think there is a wait and see attitude amongst our fans right now, noty quite sure what to make of this team (and quite frankly, perhaps a litle spoiled by the dominant MAC run of success over the last seven years and yet still not quite reaching the promised land) that may have a lot of folks worried (is this the beginning of the end?). But it's only the second MAC game of the season so no matter what Go Zips!
  23. What does this mean? - as always - Vegas knows more than me.
  24. OK the non conference (and college football)season is over, time to start concentrating on hoops and the conference slate. The Zips currently sit at 125 in the RPI so it likely means once again the MAC tournament is the only thing that can get the Zips into the NCAA tournament, however the conference season is relevant both for other possible tournaments and MAC tournament seeding (which since the tournament seeding was redone is fairly significant). So tomorrow night starts off at Ball State who currently have the MAC's worst record (and we get to play them twice and get Toledo only once and at home so we probably get a bit of a scheduling break there) so this is an important game to start the season. Win it and we get off to a good start (with a game @Ohio looming next), lose it and its an ominous portent. I expect the Zips to win by around 10-15.
  25. Regardless of how this game turns out kind of gratifying to see Florida State burn Auburn on a big play late like Auburn did to a couple of other teams this season. Would like to see the end of the SEC domination (even better having a team in the championship game). Do hate that Florida State "war whoop" though.
