  1. Always loved that video thank for sharing it. It should be a staple at the JAR. Too bad everyone in the MAC West wasn't included but at least it got the one Ohio school. Too bad the creator was never fully credited - great job.
  2. You would likely be referring to Matt Stainbrook who transferred to Xavier (and did OK there). My nephew went to Xavier and said he seemed like an OK guy.
  3. The full list of the 15 finalists against whom Taylor will compete. I think Tomlinson is a shoe-in but I'm encouraged that I don't see any others who would be an absolute favorite over Taylor. LaDainian Tomlinson Jason Taylor Brian Dawkins Morten Andersen Tony Boselli Isaac Bruce Don Coryell Terrell Davis Alan Faneca Joe Jacoby Ty Law John Lynch Kevin Mawae Terrell Owens Kurt Warner
  4. Even more off the original topic but pretty amazing that in a fairly small radius around Akron there are three high schools (and I'm sure more that I can't think of right now) that produced NFL HOFers (Stow - Csonka, Hudson - Dante Lavelli, Crestwood - Jack Lambert).
  5. Taking the topic completely off the rails, I saw Jay Leno (funniest stand-up I've ever seen, Tonight Show is nothing like his stage show) at the Akron Civic Theater in 1982. We thought the $8 seats were a little pricy so we bought $6 seats further back. Couldn't have been more than 200 people at the show so he moved everyone up close to the stage so we sat in the second row. Maybe its just an Akron thing people don't like to go to things.
  6. Since Zeke was already taken, the fictitious Sarah Marshall.
  7. Interesting story in the PD about Luke Fickell wanting to become a head coach again. This statement in the story is why I included it on a Zips board. A grad assistant at Ohio State in 1999 after playing defensive line for the Buckeyes from 1992 to 1996, Fickell's first full-time job was at Akron in 2000 and 2001 as defensive line coach. He remembers assistants who worked there without moving their families. He wondered then how the players could believe in coaches that acted like they didn't want to be there.
  8. I think it fixed a few things. Embedded images like twitter no longer add while space continually and I can actually get to the bottom post of every forum now which wasn't always the case. Thanks Doc!
  9. I guess one slot below a guy who's going to New York for the Heisman ceremony isn't so bad.
  10. I got your recap right here. :-)
  11. Actually Troy is lurking pretty close as well.
  12. Disappointing result but at least we weren't the number one seed and got ousted by Providence. Wow.
  13. More worried about Corso living that long. :-)
  14. Skip don't get what you're getting at here, I think most people complain about a low profile home schedule not who we play away from home. At away/neutral sites since 2008 we've played at Pitt, NC State, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Miami (twice), Mississippi St (won and that was a top 25 team), West Virginia, Oklahoma St, Penn St (twice won once), Oregon State (won), South Carolina (three times won once), USC (won), Arkansas (won) and National Champion Villanova. I think you can complain about some things about our schedule but I don't think that's one of them. We've played and won against high profile teams. The Ohio GT win will be quickly forgotten. You'd have to win consistently against that type of competition (including the NCAA tournament) to get your average fan to take notice. I have no issues with Akron's away/neutral scheduling and that's not even counting solid mid majors like Dayton and Middle Tennessee.
  15. Loved seeing Louisville get stomped. After their players complained about how they weren't treated fairly by the CFP and they are coached by Bobby Petrino. Too bad Houston has those losses or the committee would have to give them serious consideration for the playoff. Would have liked to have seen what they'd have done but moot point now. Would be OK with WMU making the Cotton Bowl with the Zips now out of the MACC running. Can't see Houston doing anything with their two losses (and one being to SMU).
  16. I was at that game as well - I recorded the goal and posted it to YouTube since that was such a huge win over Indiana then. Enjoy
  17. Can certainly see why O'Leary claimed the job this year though.
  18. Think Miami might be rooting just a little for the Zips next week? Avoiding a loss to either last placers Buffalo or BGSU could have won a division title. Sigh.
  19. I'd like it a lot more if they were they for Toledo vs. WMU. That might be a game worth GameDay but they are probably only there because there aren't any really big games this week. Still happy to see any non power 5 appearance though.
  20. So our best win this year is going to end up being over Miami (a team that started 0-6) and we've given both 2 wins Buffalo and Bowling Green their only conference wins. But so as not to be completely negative Tom O'Leary has taken what was thought to be a weakness into a strength,
  21. #10 for BGSU is a POS. No way JoJo deserved to get thrown out of that game unless he did too
  22. Gotta give the team credit for battling back to tie the game
  23. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. Wonder why Hoyer is not available? Complete collapse
  24. OU beat Buffalo last night (and pretty handily). The only path for the Zips to win the East now is they must beat BGSU at home and OU must lose at CMU. Both are possible. Then the Zips must beat the Bobkittens at OU. That's a tall order from the way things are looking now. And there's also the little wrinkle that Miami must lose a game in there somewhere or if all those things happen and Miami beats CMU, Buffalo and Ball State Miami wins the East!
