  1. Where does Akron shake out this week? http://tinyurl.com/6a4acoe
  2. You mean Doug Penno. And, man, this is some impressive mountain building. Do you do this good of work on all molehills?
  3. I know what you're referring to, and those were charges. His feet were planted and they hit him square in the chest. No question. I know a lot of people throw the f-bomb his way because he takes a lot of charges, but look at film... he's really good at drawing them. Throwing his head into Zeke's elbow would be really stupid, as he suffered a concussion last month. Cooper, though, reminds me of Chris Paul's flopping antics.
  4. If there's any ambiguity, they'd rather overcall than undercall, if those words exist. Calling a flagrant/tech/intentional that wasn't there comes with much lesser repercussions than not calling one that was.
  5. That was the best game Ohio played since the Georgetown game... and that wasn't a coincidence. Everyone sees the talent this team, but as people have pointed out, they have been mediocre at best so far this season. Why? I think part of it is motivation. They simply don't get up for every game. They get up for Akron. One played flat-out said, "I hate Akron." While I've never gotten anyone on the Zip side to be that blunt, they feel the same way . There's some bad blood here, and Ohio is going to be jacked for Akron each and every time they play. The Zips have to be ready for that.
  6. If regards to Zeke, elbows are a point of emphasis this season. Right or wrong, that is going to get called more often than not because the referee supervisors are specifically monitoring those actions and what they result in.
  7. Actually, he's 48% from two, really good for a guard. It's that poor three-point shooting that's dragging him down. He's taking almost 7 threes a game, which is just silly considering how bad he is at it and he good of a slasher he is. By the way, here are the margin of victories the last three seasons: 6, 3, 5, 9, 5, 3, 1. Three of those went into overtime. If you look back at the last decade, there are a lot of close contests. In other words, expect a battle. Some heartening facts: - Ohio hasn't won in Akron since 2003. - Akron has swept Ohio twice in the last three years. - Ohio has not had a better conference record than Akron since the 2001-02 season
  8. These two teams don't like each other. Should be a lot of fun.
  9. Should be able to find STO games on ESPN3. How much better has STO been compared to FSN already. 50 times? 100?
  10. It can't take much more than Linhart is showing to at least get on the Kings, Wiz, or Cavs.
  11. I would be more curious to see how ratings compare between FSN and STO. There's no reason the game should be blacked out. That's just weird.
  12. Looking at the MAC as we head into conference play: http://macreportonline.com/index.php/20110...rence-play.html
  13. What, that he can't outrun a 6'2" guard? Cole didn't even dunk through him; Zeke was behind Cole. Even if he did, so what? Any big man who has ever played basketball has been dunked on.
  14. Any other school in Ohio. The Buckeye infection is everywhere. I've seen tOSU gear in every MAC school in the state.
  15. Youngstown State: 229 in Basketball State rankings 245 in Pomeroy ratings 163 in Sagarin predictor He's right, though, Cleveland State is a contender for the Horizon.
  16. I hate to correct mainland volleyball malihinis, but there were five games played. Every collegiate volleyball MATCH consists of at least three GAMES. The term "sets", comes from the sport of tennis -- not volleyball. Someone tell Gozips.com. Actually, the terminology is now "sets."
  17. Zips gave up .907 points per defensive possession tonight, which is excellent. Problem was the .74 points per offensive possession.
  18. If you think Akron has the worst fans in the NCAA, you have extremely limited knowledge of NCAA fanbases. Heck, in the MAC, how many schools have better fans? Two? Maybe three?
  19. Bad news indeed. I feel more grief for his parents than anyone. Though we'd never met, I loved those guys; seem like great people and terrific parents. My lasting memory of the McKnight family will be of the MAC tournament two years ago. The Akron section was right behind my seat on media row, and Mr. McKnight was near the front row. Every game, a handful of times, he would stand up and scream, "Integrity of the game, ref! Integrity of the game!" No explanation, no elaboration... "Integrity of the game!
  20. I think you took it too seriously; I meant it playfully. Besides, Akron won 2 of 3 from Ohio last year. Easy could've been 3 of 3.
  21. I have a better track record than the media poll! I had Toledo in '07 and that other school in '08. Missed the last two years and not feeling good about this season, though.
  22. I have you guys winning the East this year. Don't make me look bad.
  23. <br />Unquestionably, UCONN has been the best Big East team in recent years. They are a fast paced, offensive orriented team. Defense is fine if you can score once you get the ball. And I think the last time UConn won the national title they had khalid El-Amin running the point & Rip Hamilton filling it up @ the 2G. Rip Hamilton had already won an NBA title in 2004, the last time UConn's men won the national crown.
