Our defense will get better in the next couple years. JT just needs to keep building the depth, so he can rotate more freely. The defense looked strong in each game until the 4thQ Even against Purdue, the defense held up until they were dead on their feet.

They may not draw 35000 when losing, but they would draw 18-20K. The Rubber Bowl sucks. Unless you are a diehard, you don't want to go sit in those uncomfortable seats, with the terrible views, and bad atmosphere. Pu the stadium on campus, where students can just walk up to the gates, and it's more centered in town, and you will see more people there.

IMHO, it is because the Rubber Bowl sucks. I really feel if we had an on campus stadium, not only more students would come, but more from the community would come. I am a fan that goes to games, but I hate the place. If I wasn't a diehard football UA fan, I wouldn't go either.

IF JD, and KD ultimately turn things around, and get us into the upper echelon, then we may need to start worrying a little. Hopefully we get the new stadium, and we become a winner. Then, even if JD does go, we will look good to another hot candidate. Unfortunately, UA will always be a stepping stone. That's ok, if you can keep replacing the stones.

The defense scared me in the 4th quarter, but they came thru in OT. We need more depth. They were worn out. This is a huge win for the program. They beat one of the MAC elite. The greatest thing is that this is a young team. They will only get better. With JD hopefully recruiting each year like he did last year, the future is bright. This is the most excited I have been for UA football in a long time.

Someone needs to personally talk to these people, and find out what the problem is. I don't think Morgan says he isn't going to cover UA. He is told what to do. We need to find out from his bosses what the problem is. Forget OSU, Browns, and high school, Can't gets more coverage in the leaking urinal than UA does. It's a real shame.

The thing is, is that the hatred of UA is not existent on OSU boards. I talk about UA quite often, and always get positive responses. Things like Akron is really turning the corner, they have a great new coach, the new facilites are awesome. It's good to have another school in Ohio to cheer for. When there are recruits that want to go to OSU, but don't get offers, like Carlton Jackson, and Dennis Kennedy, there are always postives such as Akron is a good team to go to, or we will follow them at Akron. Guys on there boards were constantly saying how good Frye is/was Even during OSU/Akron week a few years ago, there was no Akron bashing. Believe me if there was, I would have been all over it. Sure, there are a-hole fans. Everyone has them. Believe me, there are many OSU fans that I want to slap upside the skull. We have our share too. But geez, OSU is the largest University in the nation, and has the highest number of Alums. By default, it will seem like they have more than most. I am not saying anyone should be a fan. I am just saying the hatred is absurd. Again, it is not their fault that the BJ sucks. They have a huge fan base. That is why they are on TV so much. That's my piece. I'm done. Go Zips.

Sorry, I never grew up then. It has nothing to do with proximity. I guess according to your logic. Only people from Akron are allowed to be Zip fans. On another board there is a guy from New Jersey that is a Zips fan. He said he has followed them for a long time. He became interested in Akron because of the name. He has been a fan for over 20 years. I will be sure in our next discussion to tell him that he needs to only cheer for Rutgers, because that is his local school. I hope your favorite sports team are all Cleveland teams. After all, they are the closest. That's why they are my teams, but you have different logic than I do. ZFF, Let me explain to you why I am an OSU fan. I feel you are wrong in your description of why most people are OSU fans. When I was a kid, my dad took us to the Acme Zip game every year. It was a blast, I remember the RB usually being pretty full. Akron was a DII school. I looked at them as almost a step above high school. When they played in the Pioneer Bowl, I was so proud. That was my home town team. Meanwhile, I would see OSU on TV, read about them in the newspaper, and see them in those fancy bowl games on New Years day. They were bigger than life. They were Ohio State, I was from Ohio. It seemed like a perfect fit. After all, I was a kid. I grew up cheering for them. If I only liked them because they won, or because everyone else did, I would have been a Notre Dame fan. Eventually UA moved up to D1AA, and then D1. By that time I was already a huge OSU fan, and followed them closely. I am a UA alum, and attend at least 3 games per year. I can't give up my love for OSU, just because I got older. When OSU, and Akron played, I rooted for AKron. WInning that game would put Akron on the map. It's not fair to hate OSU because the leaking journal sucks. OSU has great tradition, and is fun to watch. I admit it may be hard to start being a fan of the 2 at this time. After all, they play each other. However, I can't give up a lifetime of being a fan just because UA moved up into the same division. It is possible to like both schools. Luckeyes, suckeyes, whatever. I have always been, and always will be a UA fan, and I have always been, and will always be an OSU fan. Nothing can change that.

The OSU-Iowa game is at 12:00. Our game is at 6:00. I will see both. OSU on TV, and UA at the RB.

If we can beat NIU, that would be a great confidence builder, and start to what could be a very good season.

I was watching a CUSA game last weekend. The network showed a list of the 6 or 7 CUSA QB's in the NFL. Included were Culpepper, Pennington and Leftwitch, who obviously never played in CUSA. If we beat OSU in 1894, I'll take it. I'm glad they still count such an old win as one for Akron and the MAC. Lookinf forward the the next one in 2007. Your optimism is refreshing...
