1. Temple 59 Akron 7* *denotes points scored on Owls third string defense
2. I'd say JD's recruiting fell off...I never did buy the idea that we really had any talent on this team. And that is not to in any way forgive the 3-3-5! However, anyone who witnessed the GWeb game saw firsthand that for the most part, our players were neither especially bigger nor faster than theirs. The talent just isn't there. So no it's not all Ianello's fault. But so what. He needs to go asap. No way will I tolerate giving him several years to see if he pans out. We have to end this lightning in a bottle approach to hiring coaches. We need to bring in someone who has shown proven LEADERSHIP qualities at the collegiate level. The hiring of Ianello was met with a collective sigh is because Northeast Ohio is a football literate region. Even the casual observer knew it was a stretch.
3. Any improvements to the locker room wouldn't be lost on a much needed move. They could be beneficial for the students via intramurals or sports classes. We've lost a lot of formerly publicly accessible green space on Lee Jackson. It would be nice to have some more opportunities for the general student body.
4. Football fans throughout the region will be able to see the Zips in HD on Sportstime Ohio.
5. I can think of 375 thousand reasons that someone would want to coach here.
6. We were beat down 38-10 by a team that was beat down 43-7 by Columbus. Considering this post, I am so thankful that Tressel is the coach. He's not going to run up the score too badly on us. (insert sad face emoticon here)
7. I assume I'm once again the winner of another meaningless zipsnation contest!
8. OU cheerleaders will sprain their MCL's from carrying that scroungy cat flag around after every TD. Akron 9 Ohio 38 p.s. Zips will keep it close for the first 5:00.
9. So does our offense.
10.
Thirsty Dog opening long-awaited public tasting room
October 1, 2010 by Akron Beacon Journal By Rick Armon Beacon Journal staff writer Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. will open its long-awaited public tasting room on Saturday. The Akron brewery — maker of such beers as Old Leghumper and 12 Dogs of Christmas — has installed a bar and will offer 12 of its beers on draft. "The greatest reward, more than medals or anything else, is the guy sitting across the bar that's consuming your product that you worked hard to make," co-owner John Najeway said. Thirsty Dog is a production brewery and not a brewpub where people can sit down and enjoy a meal. Many production breweries have tasting rooms as a way to introduce people to their beer and they are a popular gathering spot after a brewery tour. continued at: http://the330.com/featured/thirsty-dog-ope...c-tasting-room/
11. Skip, you sure about that? I kinda remember being picked by the MAC coaches to come in first...then coming in dead last. That wasn't nearly our best year in 1-A. We were 7-3-1 in 1992 under Gerry Faust. Our first year in the MAC.
12. "Tulsa saw there season end in a 1-0 loss to Akron at Lee Jackson Field..." Great read! Although it is amusing to see the incorrect use of the word "there" in place of "their" on a college publication lol. GREAT GAME TONIGHT THE ATMOSPHERE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13. The major setback actually started Getsy's Senior season! Heck, remember that regionally televised debacle at Can't?
14. I am incredulous. The statement just hit home fore me. I just can't believe that after all of the excitement to start last year, we are now facing the possibility of a winless team. p.s. for the record, to go "defeated" is actually pretty funny, in a pathetic way of course.
15. "In fact I expect this team to go defeated this year." Why am I laughing hysterically at this statement...why is this funny?
16. Man, I know they're favoring the locations access to interstates and proximity between Cleveland and Akron....the Richfield Coliseum effect. But a project like this should fit into the already existing urban fabric of Akron or Cleveland. We have so many areas of both cities that really need redevelopment.
17. Thanks for posting!!!!!!
18. Somebody should drag the players and this coach back to the Rubber Bowl. Let them train out there until they deserve to be on campus.
19. InTheZone...with all due respect... WHERE IS THIS TALENT YOU SPEAK OF? That's simply not true. Brookhart left the team with as much talent as we've had in the past decade. We're not in horrible shape, at least we weren't until the Rob Ianello tornado of incompetance came spinning its way into town. This team has the talent to play for a conference championship, but with this career loser position coach running things, we'll be lucky to win a conference game.
20. One only needed to look at the body language of both teams today. If you were one of the dozens of fans in attendance, you would've noticed it. Since halftime, the GW players were animated, fired up and in the moment. Our Zips stood quietly on the sidelines, shrugging their shoulders for the rest of the game. This was a black day in the history of the program.
21. Thanks for the link!!
22. Good interview. He's touting conference home games vs. Syracuse, Arizona and U Miami as a sign the MAC is moving forward. Michael Reghai said Infocision is "a beautiful place." Have to hand it to Michael Reghai and Kenny Roda...both asking some great questions. Drop WKNR a note saying thanks and you want to hear more MAC!!!! And conversely, a little less Red and Silver. Michael Reghi - bringit@espncleveland.com Aaron Goldhammer agoldhammer@gkbradio.com ( Jason Gibbs jgibbs@gkbradio.com (program director) Kenny Roda roadman@espncleveland.com
23. While it's understandable, I just don't see this happening at a serious program.
24. We are bush league.
