Awesome, 8am...I'll bet you'll be pouring beer on your cereal!!My crew has a lot 9 pass, and we stuck there like glue last week. We were kind of overwhelmed by it all. This week I hope to visit some other lots for information gathering. I think in time each lot will have its own unique culture going on. Lot 34 will be jumping by 9-10 am i bet. I know ill be there at 8.

Attention Lot 9 All Stars: I have a banjo that I can't play, and a guitar I can sorta play.I'll bring them both!!!

Ditto. It would be a great match up as well. PS: I would rather not play at Browns stadium...I think there is some money invested ON CAMPUS where out beautiful stadium is practically begging for use(I think I just accidently imitated someone)Agree I would rather play on campus, I just wasn't sure Michigan has any precedent for playing a venue as small, albeit amazing stadium like the Info.

The offense looks light years ahead of last week....the defense holds tough in the last series to preserve the win!!!!INDIANA 27AKRON 28

I picked # 3...but it wasn't easy. Most of all I would love to see Pitt play us at the Info. You know their fans would travel well, and I'm not sure you can say the same about Norfolk State, Minnesota, So. Miss or Navy. I don't mind the game in Cleveland vs. Michigan. I honestly think the game would draw much much better than our "epic" battle with Army last time. And I am not sure a program as big as Michigan plays in stadiums as small as Info, though I could be wrong. Also, I don't care if we ever play another FCS team. Yeah I know we need wins for bowl eligibility, but still, lets find some bigger teams than Morgan State to beat up.

why was The Info Opener Not Televised
scottditzen replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Football
Whether it's day or night, I can not wait to see just how photogenic the Info looks on television!!! Will the absolute fervor and energy I witnessed on Sat. translate well on the big screen?Of course, I will be at all the games, so maybe I won't see it on t.v. any time soon. p.s. while we're talking television, I have to say the the JAR (somehow) looks absolutely great for the Zips games on ESPN or Fox Sports. -
So weird, even the latest copy of the Buchtelite shows this as a $5 lot!!!! It was a mixture of both. I paid for a season pass there. I got there just before noon and the party was jumpin'If I had to give somebody $5, I'm not sure who I would give it to?!? I'm only guessing, but I think some parked for free. Can anybody verify? Maybe it was just because it was the first week?

Hi Dr. Can you tell me if lot 73 was prepaid pass or $5 or a mixture of both?

What is the Zips First Play From Scrimmage?
scottditzen replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I won!! But to his credit, Bruce got 4 yards which may cut down on my winnings. Our offense can be a little predictable lol. But seriously....it's time to retire that play for good!!!! -
Excellent point about Nebraska. I remember hearing that game on the radio and their fans gave standing ovations for our underdog Zips that day. Our team came out fighting, and those fans appreciated it.Classy. I vote we put this on the main page for the next two days! No, you should not have to mention this, but I am glad you did. Great Job.+1 +1 +1I went to Nebraska several years ago to see the Zips. It was unreal how nice each and every one of their fans I encountered was towards the Zips faithful. The Nebraska band stopped by our small cheering section and played the Zips fight song. It seriously almost brought a tear to my eye at the time.Conversely - Last season I went to the Insight Bowl just for something to do on an Arizona vacation. Being a Minnesota Vikings fan, I had a Chester Taylor jersey (mine) and an Adrian Peterson jersey (son's). I figured I'd wear them and root for the Golden Gophers against Kansas. I needed someone to root for.So...I'm squeezing ketchup on my son's hot dog when this older gentlemen approaches me and rants "YOU SHOULD BE SUPPORTING THE GOPHERS, NOT THE VIKINGS! WHERE'S YOUR GOPHER SHIRTS?!" He bolted away in a huff.Zips fans have the chance to either be known as Nebraska-types. Or Minnesota-types. It only takes one a-hole to ruin your perception of an institution. As ZW stated - Go out of your way to be nice. If you see someone who came all the way from the east coast to support Morgan State, offer them a beer or whatever's on your grill. Ditto Indiana next week. It isn't up to Hunter Yurachek to impress the visiting fans. That's out of the University's control. It is up to you - The Zips Fan. 13 hours until kickoff!!!! Again - well done, ZW.

Parking lots open at 10:00 AM on game day
scottditzen replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
You're absolutely right on with this post. This policy, I hope, is something that they will soon be changing. -
I want to nominate this for one of the best posts ever on ZN.

Agreed, we want reward quality coverage!! But I think we absolutely need the Cleveland stations if we want to establish Akron as THE university for Northeast Ohio. Those television and radio outlets need to hear from us whatever our opinion is. Apathy is the enemy. And we'll start another one that we're all desperate for attention and come groveling with thanks at the sign of any coverage. It's great to compliment them on the quality of the coverage, but to thank them for doing something they should be doing in the first place doesn't look good. This especially applies to the Cleveland TV stations.

Tony Rizzo talking Infocision on WKNR
scottditzen replied to scottditzen's topic in Akron Zips Football
Ha ha, he might be...he is Sicilian. Was he in the cast of the Sopranos? -
Just a reminder......when any media outlet is giving us props, take a second to drop them an email saying thanks. We want to destroy the ridiculous stereotype that nobody cares about Akron.

Should be some more nice publicity on the stadium...I've heard him gushing about it last week.216-578-0850 if you wanna call the station.email rizzo@espncleveland.com

Tailgating...the final pregame thread
scottditzen replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Football
Hey there Zips89, the parking garages will be the worst places to tailgate. You're not allowed any bbq grills there, only in the outside lots.p.s. frisbee or any ball playing is restricted to grass fields. My friends and I dont have a parking pass for the Z Fund lots so we figure the best place to tailgate (besides the parking decks) is the lot between Grant and Carroll streets (the biggest out door lot close to the Polymer building) -
Tailgating...the final pregame thread
scottditzen replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Football
It's so great that I can't even fricking read what lot number that is!!!!Seriously, the numbers on that pdf are ridiculous.http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AXBFAcNQ...5yZ3A&hl=enhere is where we'll be tailgating -
Guys, this lot is clearly labeled in the 2009 Fan Guide that came with your season tickets. That pdf on GoZips is so stupid it's freaking illegible! But what I want to know is whether lot 73 will still allow General Admission parking. The Guide says yes, it's coded blue for General Admission. However, on the GoZips pdf is coded yellow, Credential Paqrking to Z-Fund members and season ticket holders with pre-purchased passes. The fact you guys got assigned lot 73 tags suggests it's not General Admission any more. This sucks for me, it's one of the few grass lots available for frisbee, etc. I think this will be by far the best lot, along with lot 8 of course.

Tailgating...the final pregame thread
scottditzen replied to RootforRoo44's topic in Akron Zips Football
There is a discrepancy between the Lot information mailed with my season tickets vs. the GoZips pdf. here http://www.gozips.com//pdf5/641139.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=10800. The mailer shows lot 73 (on Brown, adjacent to old softball field) coded blue as General Admission Parking. The pdf from GoZips shows coded yellow as Credential Parking available to Z-Fund members and season ticket holders with pre-purchased season pass. Anyone know what is going on here?p.s. Root, I would keep the keg conspicuously hidden, though well iced, based upon word of mouth. The deal is that drinking in the lots is technically illegal. But who knows, it may have been technically illegal at the Rubber Bowl too. Nobody knows exactly how things are going to shape up. -

Hey Jupiter, why heck do you care if fans on this forum want to leave the MAC? Is our school even wanted in this conference?

I really like OBC too, but they are the ones who are to blame. If they really cared about getting the business of Zips fans, they would know about this forum and be spreading the word, inviting all of us to come down there. They know how to make excellent beer, but it appears to me that every one of their business moves has been suspect to say the least. I'm not blaming you Oh I didn't take it that way. I'm just as disappointed as anyone, and I wish I had made ONE more phone call to OBC late in the week. Because, I really could have used a few Alt Ambers to soothe my pain
