  1. Sometimes I wonder if the UA marketing dept. is trapped in a windowless room....no phone, no t.v., no internet, no imagination.
  2. I'm voting on a Mac running the Safari browser. For others using this setup, after you vote, just click on the header "Safari" and drag click "Reset Safari" and you're all set to vote again. Just go back to http://capitalonebowl.com/Voting/Default.aspxCOME ON EVERYONE, NOBODY WILL REMEMBER IF ZIPPY COMES IN SECOND PLACE!!!!!!!!!
  3. I think the program should really play up this being THE LAST SEASON IN THE RUBBER BOWL, and build momentum going into the new stadium. Nostalgia sells. Fixing the P.A. so you could hear what's going on would improve things, but that might be just a waste of $$$$ now.Basically for me, the fan experience will be improved if there are more of us at the game!!!!
  4. With talent like Arthur and Lindsay on board this is a whole different team. p.s. I'm on the bandwagon for "No more b.s. high school offense" too.
  5. Someone who is concerned about this (unlike myself), and wants Goldie (Minniesota?) to win, should go to the Hawai'i bulletin board and tell them that this is Round One of the Sugar Bowl. Show them that a non-BCS school can beat them Ugla dawgs! Sorry -- Go Zippy! Brilliant!!!!!!!!
  6. I would think that beer sales mean a lot of revenue to Jacobs Field, Browns Stadium and the Q. I don't understand why would the new stadium on campus should be any different from those venues. Sports fans in northeast Ohio have proven time and time again that they will pay ridiculous markup for alcohol. There's no problem getting beer at Ohio State.
  7. This may only be a wild rumor....but after the polymer building was built I heard there was an uprising there on the 13th floor. The building was taken over by superintelligent spiders. Since the revolt, the goodyear blimp flies near, but never directly over the polymer building. It's obvious that there is some kind of highly technological warfare going on between goodyear and the spiders. And the university is powerless to stop the spiders. The Beacon Journal won't report on this because they don't want to give uakron any publicity, even if it's in a negative context.
  8. This just in....Vanderbuilt set to join the Mid American Conference.
  9. There's something about Cosmo that I just don't like....lets mayke sure the Kangaroo puts him away early this week!!!!GO ZIPS
  10. Agree. The offensive play calling is offensive!!! There is nothing good about it. Man I am sick of watching the RB get the ball while stopping dead in his tracks after the handoff, losing all momentum from the formation that places him right next to the QB. This has killed us in short yardage. Sometimes it would be nice to see the ball go to the RB or even a FB with a ton of momentum. CJ may be indeed be the better QB, but I'm not mad at Brookhart for not playing him when he violates team rules. I can't remember our offense ever looking this bad.
  11. We would be completely lost without Jabari, I'm afraid. The Zips are in contention for the division despite ranking 114th out of 119 teams in the country in total offense.http://www.cleveland.com/sports/plaindeale....xml&coll=2
  12. Zippy edges past Monty Friday 9:30 am.This is going to be a battle, Monty is a defending champ and he's gonna come on strong late....soLETS KEEP VOTING!!!!
  13. I know things are pretty heated right now, and for good reason. Our program is at a crossroads and every game seems pivotal. The loss to Temple was eye opening and I have HATED THIS OFFENSIVE SCHEME since the spring game.......butisn't it great to have this forum? There is a groundswell of fans who are moving past the era of apathy, and more people are actually giving a damn about Zips football. This is positive. When Akron used to lose in creative and unbelievable ways back in the 90's, I had nowhere to vent and would call the athletic office and leave drunk and angry messages on their voicemail lol. I felt like my few friends and I were the only ones who really cared about the games!!!! Everyone sitting around us at the Rubber Bowl was dead quiet and motionless, even when Akron would make tremendous plays. For so long The Beacon Journal wouldn't write anything critical at all about the team and that just perpetuated the apathy. So even though a lot of us are arguing over all of this, it's still at the very least a good sign that people care. Welcome new posters to the forum and try and keep things above the belt and we'll get even more fans. We're all in the same boat here.
  14. No. I believe JD will finally make the moves to bring the offense in the right direction.....I hope.
  15. I hate to say this, but if you saw the game you wouldn't think that there is the slightest danger of Brookhart being lured away by a bigger program. And I am a fan of his but this offense- the worst Akron offense in recent memory- is really trying my patience as a supporter of the team. Unless you mean that by "leaving" you mean just walking away from a head coaches job.
  16. This has been the identity of our team, come out in the 2nd half and go into cruise control- be conservative.Congrats to Temple, they came here to win. And if they convert those missed field goals they beat us by 10.
  17. It's not Chris Jacq, its the OFFENSIVE SCHEME that needs to go. It sucks to watch and it doesn't work.We look like a high school out there.
  18. Our offense is the worst I've seen in many years.I hated it the first time I saw it at the open practice and I hate it even worse now. Way too conservative....our inability to convert on 3rd and short has haunted us all season.
  19. because I you may be right, I edited my post that those comments were "alleged" and I did not hear Martin say that. p.s. am I the only person who thinks Kents offense will give OSU a hard time!!!
  20. Just heard on the radio (I'm working down in C-bus) Coach Doug Martin has ALLEGEDLY stated that he will bench some of his starters vs. OSU in order to avoid injuries!!! Martin ALLEGEDLY said he wanted to instead keep his focus on the MAC. Coach Tressel, as you can imagine, did not seem real happy when he heard about this but took the high road.Man, I am sure glad we have Brookhart and not Martin as our coach.
  21. Seymour 21297 Zippy 21338 8:25 am This is the only real contest and I think it's coming down to the final minute!!!!!
  22. Huh, being reminded about all the miracle victories makes me wonder if the curse hovering over Akron football may actually be waning or even broken!!!!Still, soooo many miracle losses hopelessly trapped in my memory.....I know the program has turned the corner, winning the MAC this year is a realistic goal.Zips 33Owls 17We're always tough at home
  23. This just in.....Zippy is on fire!!!!Keep up the voting everyone!!!!!!!!!
  24. No way can the Zips take this game lightly....this is the MAC where anything can happen!!!!
