Great story!!!

Okay. That 1990 footage is awesome. Here's my 2 cents: BE LIKE THAT!!!!! THAT WAS INCREDIBLE AND VERY WELL DONE.My vote is for High energy music, just like that, keep it traditional. Please no slow movie scores or top 40 please.

Well said!!! But as for the JAR, even with it's horrible design, the one good thing I'll say is that it has looked photogenic on Fox Sports and ESPN 2 - a fact that has really suprised me. By the way, it was very nice watching the Zips from those cushy, comfortable seats at the Q.

No disrespect, but if you were a soccer fan, you would know Akron went to the NCAA quarterfinals in soccer in 2005. But, to you its "not a major sport", so you apparently don't care about the team or its success. I hope you get a chance to actually go and see the soccer team play consistently -- or to see any good college or pro soccer, and I'm confident you will change your mind about what constitutes a "minor sport".Go Zips, go Team Caleb! I believe he meant the Zips got snubbed with their seed in the tournament. I remember coach Lolla and theplayers feeling slighted.

Bryan, are those hours new or something? Because I'm pretty sure that when the metal gate is down you can'tbuy anything!!!! Just kidding, I appreciate the info brutha. And thanks for the number, I'll certainly give them a call before driving down. I would rather give my moneyright to the athletic dept.p.s. I hate buying clothes online, but Lids does have a huge selection....36 hats!!!!!
-
I would much rather hear traditional marching band music, music with energy and lots of drums, and please stop mining the lite rock from the 1970's. We're not at cheap lawn seats at Blossom Music Center for washed up bands like Chicago, we're at a football game!!!Oh, and script ZIPS was very cool.p.s. Love when the band plays "Hey Baby, I wanna know, if you'll be my girl" Classic.

Welcome Steve and Norm!!! Us against the world.

I just heard JT the Brick belittle the "small schools" that "don't belong in the tournament." He specifically said teams like Niagara and MIAMI OF OHIO should have their own LITTLE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT. This just after Oregon escaped with a 2 point win over Miami. Incredible how some people view the MAC.

Former Zips Coaches Discuss Stadium
scottditzen replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
At the end of the article, make sure you click "5" !!!!!!! -
You make some great points in your 2nd letter. The MAC needs to do more in Cleveland, andbecome more visible. He seems genuinely sorry for his first response.

First post-NIT snub reaction from Dambrot, Boyages
scottditzen replied to mrelegazna's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Oh man, I forgot about that!!!!And don't forget how our soccer team routinely gets screwed by NCAA.I'm starting to think it truly is an "us against the world" scenario. -
Here's how to do something positive right now and it's easy:First, email the guys at WKNR and GIVE THEM PROPS for covering the Zips and the MAC. Let them know thatwin or lose, you are still an Akron fan.President/CEOCraig Karmazin ck@espncleveland.comTony Rizzo rizzo@espncleveland.comKenny Roda roadman@espncleveland.comGreg Brinda gregbrinda@espncleveland.comSecond, click onto http://wtam.com/pages/site_feedback.htmlTell WTAM 1100 (POLITELY!!!) that you're disappointed there is ZERO coverage of the Zips MAC Championship game on their website. Tell them you're more interested in Akron and the MAC than the BigEast or Ohio State. This is how we destroy the perception of Akron apathy. I saw a lot of Zip fans upset after the game. Believeme that's a GOOD sign for this program, that there ARE FANS WHO CARE A LOT ABOUT THE SCHOOL. I'm still going to wear my Zips stuff every day until there are holes in everything.
-
Man you definately feel my pain...I have resorted to only shopping online for "quality zips gear" cause nothing burns my ass more than when I drive 2 hours north, go to the jar and the damn store isn't open, for no good reason.Tell me about it Ryno!!!! I come down from Cleveland, not as far as you but still a pain. The Barnes and Noble stuff just isn't nearly as good. Thanks Uakronkid for the tip about Kohls.

This is disconcerting...I hate having to track down Zips apparal in stores like a private detective. I don't want it to be as common as the cheap OSU crap you see even in Discount Drug Mart. But I would loveto just be able to walk into your typical sports store and buy some Roo gear. Having the mysteriousZips store in the JAR open sporadically is the dumbest marketing move ever.p.s. I don't mind the shirt having the dreaded Can't logo on it, I wouldn't wear it personally. Though I would buy it for someone if some money went toward Zips athletics. I just think it's cool to build up the rivalry and get as much mileage out of it as possible.
-
Did anybody see the gold/yellow shirts that had BOTH the Zips and flushes logos on the front?

http://www.wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=64022My first impressions from those renderings are not positive. I sincerely hope the final design is nowhere near what was shown.I mean I'm ecstatic things are moving forward, I just wish fans and alumni could've had some kind of input in the design process. From the "open feel" language he used, it appears we're locked into a structure that screams Division I-AA. I am positive many many people would've gladly donated money if they thought their opinions at least meant something in all of this.

People!!! You have to give Savage and Crennel some credit here. Romeo has to play like they could possibly draft him because they want to have the option of trading the pick. If he says "No, we definitely don't want Brady" then that would be stupid- you don't give away yourintentions to the other GM's. It's like a card game. Now if they DO take Brady, well, that IS just stupid.

New Stadium: What should it look like?
scottditzen replied to RowdyZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
So far I like eguins Montana stadium the best. Very unique looking. I think it's importaint that the new stadium be surrounded by seating or it will look high schoolish ie DIX "STADIUM"You can click around on the seating chart to see the views:http://www.montanagrizzlies.com/content/ti..._charts_wgs.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Grizzly_Stadiumhttp://www.egriz.com/washingtongrizzlystadium.phpOr check here for every stadium in America:http://www.worldstadiums.com/north_america...ed_states.shtml -
Please no.....Dix "stadium" is horrible. What a terrible let down it would be having a high school field on campus. We might as well have portable stands on wheels that roll away after the games!!!! If there's no money available for more capacity, it's best to look for something that isat least creative and unique. Here's the key: Even at 25,000, I think the stadium could still look very prominent andwell done if the dorms and attached retail are well-integrated into the design.
-
Let's get some enormous, Joseph Stalin size banners of JT for the new stadium, ha ha. Way to go Jason!!!
-
When has a Zips player ever lived up to the hopes of Akron fans? Remember Jimmal Ball, Jamie Bosley and that whole team. By the time their senior years came around they transformed from rising stars back into good/average players.

Details, Details...So you want Stadium Details?
scottditzen replied to Zipsrifle's topic in Akron Zips Football
I thought the student housing would be more integrated with the stadium- having them along the west side. The site planning study appears to have them completely separate fronting Exchange to the east. With student buildings being more a part of the structure, the stadium will have the feel of being larger and more extraordinary. -
Four MAC Bowl Teams Unwrap Early Holiday Gifts
scottditzen replied to MRO_chick's topic in Akron Zips Football
Man, if somebody told me that the MAC would have FOUR teams going to bowl games this year, and that Akron wouldn'tbe one of them, I would've said they were crazy.I may be in SD so what the heck, I may check out the Northern Ill game. -
I've watched every NFL game for two teams this year: the San Diego Chargers and the Cleveland Browns. In my humble judgement, if Charlie played for SD, they would still be 8-2 or close. And Philip Rivers, as a Cleveland Brown, would be dead.
