Moorhead 2024 make or break season to keep job?
a-zip replied to akrzips2012's topic in Akron Zips Football
You fire Jim Dennison for Gerry Faust (after 8 win season and going to 1aa playoffs) You fire JD Brookhart for Rob Ianello (while opening a brand new stadium.....iCoach, really?) You fire Terry Bowden for Tom Arth (Bowdens are CFB royalty.....Arth was 9-13 at UTChat) What do you expect!!!??? These have got to be three of the dumbest moves in the history of CFB and have SUNK Zips football!! Especially crazy moves from a school that cannot afford buyouts!! -
That’s what I was thinking. And I don’t think we covered any of those (we didn’t yesterday). It has got to be a looooong time. Sorry for the tedious question
-
Tedious? It’s a simple question pal.
-
Curious, when was the last time we covered the spread as a favorite?
-
We weren't always losing (not when I played). When was the support ever good (besides an Acme/Zip game). Basketball has been good year after year and support is meh. I don't understand what goggles people are looking through.

Closed practices will help them get ready for the game day experience.

Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans
a-zip replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
The JAR sucks, worst in the MAC. No bleachers behind the baskets makes it look like a HS gym. It’s amazing we’ve been as successful as we’ve been. KD left because of it and Groce will likely leave for the same reason. -

Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans

Joe Akron is being Joe Akron as they always have (always will). I got crucified when I brought this up around football attendance....the response was "we need to win". Well, the Bball team has been a consistent winner and we still have the same problem. Big issue to me is enrollment. 10 years ago we had 25K enrollment, today it is 11K (with 20% living on campus). That doesn't even fill the upper bleachers. We need to attract more kids to the school, fill the beautiful dorms that were built and then get those kids to the games. They are a captive audience. -
Hope he can throw a 5 yard out route across the field.
-
Me too. Favorite hoops player ever. Started with academic scholarship and walked on makes him more endearing.
-
This is so nice to watch. Great drive!
-
Horrible!! What are they thinking?
-
I hope this debacle doesn't affect recruiting. If you are a top RB, are you going to come here when you get 10 or less touches? If you are a QB are you going to come here to throw 30 yard passes for 5 yards (WRs too). What are we selling recruits right now?

Hate to say it. This is bad coaching. From the offensive play calling to the clock management. I feel sorry for our Defensive players. Completely opposite of what I expected from JoMo.
-
No TO!?. WTF!
-
He does not seem to see the field or the rush very well
-
And Lingard is forgotten already. WTF!
-
I was thinking the same. And my wanting to see the freshman had more to do with thinking they might give us a better chance to win than what we have been seeing.
-
Lingard was great running and catching. I really liked him in the interview....I like the way he talked about the alumni, the community and coming back for the rest of his life. I can't help but wonder what the season would have looked like if he had gotten the ball more like he did in this game. He is tough to bring down and it opens up play action. Also made an amazing catch on the final drive. You have got to be a strong armed QB to play in this system. 30 yard outs to gain 5-10 yards are scary. Great call on the final touchdown!! Undercuffler came through but the spike and the penalty could have cost us (I realize the emotion but damn that could have erased everything). Same for Gathings. He got lucky because I thought he could have been called twice for unsportsmanlike conduct). The kicking looked good. There were no long attempts but the short FG and all XPs had good height and right down the middle). The stadium looked beautiful from the blimp. Would have looked even better if it was full. Hopefully this is the game that sets everything off. Run the table Zips!

Awesome!!!! Lingard is MVP.
-
Lingard keeps moving the ball.......and then we start throwing. Unreal.
