  1. Your dance team is so much hotter (and better) than Toledo's...
  2. Considering that Toledo hasn't been to the big dance in 33 years, it's hard to say that our program is back. When I was a student in late 90s, we generally won 20 games and perhaps an NIT game or two...decent seasons but nothing special. Though we look good now, it's still another 2 months until tournament time. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see us 15-2 but we have a long way to go before I start any "torch passing" threads.
  3. Akron is going to win this game. We are a terrible second half team... Our players don't give a shit, our coaching staff is clueless...Go Rockets!
  4. I would think an 8-4 MAC team has a much better chance of securing a bowl game over a 7-5 record.
  5. I went to grad school at Akron for a year so I will always have a soft spot for the Zips.
  6. And I still think its an idiotic one. I wasn't expecting Toledo to beat NIU but after being up 10-7 at halftime and then make no adjustments and completely fall apart in the second half ensures that this coaching staff is not ready to take Toledo anywhere. This game worries me because...well maybe...Akron is good enough to beat Toledo. We have talent but our coaching staff looks so overmatched in games that its nauseating. A win over Akron secures a bowl game...that's enough motivation for our players. And it certainly overcomes the moral victory card. Akron does have talent to beat Toledo and if this game comes down to coaching decisions...we're screwed
  7. I guess a bowl game or potential MAC title is less to play for than a moral victory. What a stupid comment...
  8. Uh, no. You could not beat NIU. I don't want to be negative but you were clearly overmatched tonight. I really believe an NIU, UT, BG, or Ohio could've competed all 4 quarters with UCF. I don't know if Akron wins 3 games this year but your rebuilding process will take awhile. I wish you guys the best of luck and I hope Bowden was the right hire. If not, perhaps Tressel can take over in a few years...
  9. One positive: Your punter looks really good
  10. From the stands: UCF looks faster, much more athletic. Plus, your tackling needs improvement...
  11. Seeing a few Akron fans at Ale House in Oviedo. Rooting for Zips tonight! Nice to see two MAC games this weekend! Go Zips! Go Rockets!!!
  12. With the Rockets playing Saturday in Gainesville, a fellow Rocket fan and I will be at the game Thursday rooting for the Zips! Glad to be able to catch two MAC games in Florida!
  13. Are those new uniforms or have you been using them all year?
  14. Part of what you are saying is true but you don't have to have a top tier program to draw fans. Toledo averages about 4,000 a game (top 30 nationally) and we haven't been to the big dance in ten plus years. BG also averages a few thousand.
  15. Cleveland Toledo alumni chapter invites anyone not going to the game to Cleats in Strongsville at 6:30pm on Tuesday 11/20. I've always found it fun to socialize with opposing fans while watching the game. Come join us! With the way our defense has played and the fact that our quarterback has struggled, this could turn into a good game.
  16. My Rockets weren't going to win this one but I'm glad they competed. What I like most about Akron is their outside shooting. Seems like you have a lot of options from out there. Plus, Zeke is a good player, just needs to not let opposing players get in his head. Him and Pearson jawed backed and forth all game. Both teams turned the ball over way too much.
  17. I'll be there rooting for my Rockets!
  18. Obviously Toledo was buzzing after the WNIT title but I cringe everytime I hear "national champions," because we all know their is only 1 women NCAA champion and they are TX A&M. Still, the exposure, attendance, name opposition, money, and extra games/practices are positives that none of us saw possible. The fact that we sold out a women's basketball game in six hours is insane let alone having back to back sold out games. I just want to see Naama unleashed in the NCAA tournament because I still think their is another level to her that would only be brought out in the grandest stage of women's college basketball. Unfortunately, we only have one more year of her. Hope this helps the conference as well in regards to exposure and recruiting. We already have 5 programs that consistently are near 20 win each season and I think Akron can get into that group next season. In the MAC tourney, you guys deserved to beat us. Just beat BG next year. I'm sick of seeing them win MAC titles...
  19. First, hats off to the Zips who gave the Rockets all they could handle. I saw both teams earlier this year at the JAR and I wasn't impressed with Akron at all. That has changed. I think both your post players are solid even if they committed some unnecessary fouls late in the second half...attribute that to youth. Your other starters, including #20, were quite impressive. I don't look forward to facing you guys next season because you could easily be a twenty win team in 2012. As for the officiating, I am one myself, but I was disappointed with the second half. I thought Toledo got away with some fouls and the consistency from all three refs changed. Granted, Akron did commit all those fouls but it was obvious that the officiating had a minor impact on the final score. That is unfortunate. Thank God for Naama Shafir, otherwise, Akron would be playing tomorrow.
  20. Let's see. Downtrodden, back bencher Zips getting away with fouls even at home. The Refs must be slipping. Most coaches "work" the refs. Get over it. Kest has done a pretty decent job of lifting the lowly Lady Zips out of the stink cellar. All this while being continually poached by other conference teams ... including yours. This season Zips are young often starting three true freshmen. The Sockets start juniors and seniors. Zips got lucky with the scheduling or the might Sockets would have crushed the poor Lady Zips in TwoLeeDo. Try tossing a compliment or two rather than ranting how your over dog team sucked on the road. Geez, one of your ex- players decides to transfer to a school that wins, gets to the postseason, and ranks in top 50 of attendance in NCAA. What a piece of **** she is for having those aspirations. BTW, she is not on scholarship and probably won't be next year. Didn't realize you start three freshmen...im sure Tricia Cullop will convince them to transfer two hours west where they might have a chance to win... Yeah, she left a scholarship for a dump campus in a city that's only famous for its NeoNazi groups and the fact that it's conveniently close to Detroit without actually being in Detroit. She also left a team that was definitely on the upswing and no doubt on the way to being a contender in the conference. She's a traitor and a stupid one at that. An incredibly stupid decision to give up a scholarship for walk on status. She probably could not graduate from the University of Akron in the first place. Bad decision; a really, really, bad decision. The bitterness displayed here is incredible. We had two players transfer last summer (one was a major contributor) and I heard not one single negative comment from a Rocket fan. Shoot, if Naama herself wanted to transfer to Akron I'd bet a lot of Toledo fans would thank her and wish her luck. We'll see how bad of a decision Baumgartner made when she gets to play in the NCAA or WNIT tournament in 2012 and 2013. I'm sure Akron will get there by that point...

  22. I was at the game. Toledo played poorly but luckily you guys were worse. Both sides missed a lot of open shots but I thought it was Toledo's defense that won the game. Tecca had a nice game for Akron as well as Murphy but I thought Murphy got away with one too many elbows... BTW, not sure how you guys feel about Jodi Kest but I wasn't impressed. She spent most of her energy yelling at the officials over calls that were correct. Seems like she has been there long enough and I still don't see Akron anywhere near the top echelon of the conference (UT, BG, Can't, & Eastern)
  23. Toledo fan here who wanted to check out Infocision stadium, which is impressive in every way. Hope you guys can build a program that can sell that place out... Also, the campus with all the sport facilities has to be the best in the conference. Really impressed... Looks like both our offenses are that bad...offensive line and your quarterback need significant improvement. Not sure about your depth at quarterback, but Nicely needs a lot of work done. Also, didn't seem like your receivers tried to get open. Good luck rest of the way...if Toledo played you guys, the final score would be 3-2. What's sad is that I couldn't pick a winner...
