  1. Using that philosophy, how come Akron dropped the ball last year at Purdue? They sucked big time!
  2. I'm not the only one who thinks this is winnable? Joe Pa has already looked past a MAC team once, in 2000, to a unproven Toledo team, and that started his downfall for the next 3-4 seasons. That won't happen again. Penn St. wins this game by a couple of TD's.
  3. Vague generalizations often lead to even more scrutiny.
  4. Didn't realize you guys had so many away games at the beginning of the season. That's why a 8-4 or 7-5 record seems understandable.
  5. Saying that men are better at coaching basketball is not sexist so much as it is factual. That's great that seven out of the women's elite eight had female coaches... but nobody else would know because no one watches it. How many female coaches were there in the men's elite eight? (Y'know, the one that matters). Gimme a break. Also, I'm pretty sure that Tennessee's women have a male coach. Now I understand why feminism exists. To prove a$$holes like you, wrong.
  6. I still think Fyre has to prove more to be "the guy." I think he has the tools to be a successful QB, but he has a log way to go.
  7. That looks decent for now and I hope Akron adds a few more matchups. A repeat of last season may make things easier for Rhoades and Co. to schedule bigger matchups.
  8. I can see the logic of letting her go, but it would have been interesting to see how these 2 recruiting classes could have done with her at the helm.
  9. Where were you when I lost the election for the biggest A-Hole on the board? Thanks for nothing. You people are just humorless. I'll be back in the fall when football starts. I can't take it any further...... I'm gone one week and already someone has taking over my coveted spot!
  10. I give that about as much attention as I do the CFN. I could care less about both.
  11. I agree. With already 28 bowls and 56 teams going bowling, that's roughly 47% of Division 1A teams playing in the postseason. With the NCAA hoops, including the NIT, the number drops almost 20 percentage points. I think they need to cut back on some of the bowls, probably to around 24 or lower. If it means losing one of our tie-ins, so be it, because in football we have a better chance of getting an at-large bid. Playing in a bowl game 10 years ago meant something to a program. Now, it's beginning to seem like a "no big deal" attitude, especially to those bowls that no one really cares about outside of the teams who play in it.
  12. If Toledo was such a bad team, explain this:Akron 69Toledo 77
  13. Yep - as much as I want to root for the MAC, I can't stand Can't and will be pulling Pitt to blow them away. Nice season Zips! Looking forward to next season! I disagree but I understand where you are coming from. Can't doing well in this tourney may help (small chance) the committee next year in adding another MAC team. Whatever helps this conference earn more national respect, I am all for it.
  14. Oh, I hope Akron wins the East and makes it all the way to the championship game next March at the Q.But then loses in a heartbreaker to Toledo in the championship game!
  15. Even Can't would kill Mount union!
  16. That's just it, you don't have the right to tell anyone to do more. You are suffering from delusions of grandeur. The truth is you're a loud mouth who has been a zip fan for what, one or two years? Keep on rooting for the team, just don't tell anyone what they have to do because it doesn't meet your standards! As for me, you have nothing on me. I've been cheering for the Zips since I was an undergraduate. Actions speak louder than words. And the ak-oldies you don't respect, show it with every sporting event they attend. I just love when people think they know you through an Internet message board! For your information, I've been a Zips fan since 1998, when my sister first attended the school. I started going to games then, came to UA in 2000, and have been to just about every home contest ever since (work conflicted at times). I have gone to road games, the MAC tourney every year, etc. I graduated in December and continue to follow the Zips for as long as I live. If you want to hold it against me that I was born later than you, that's fine. Whatever makes you feel better. Want to call me a loudmouth? Whatever. Again, if that makes you feel good about yourself, that's cool. Just don't try acting like you know anything about me or what kind of fan I am just because we disagree on something. UADavid is a paternalistic opportunist.
  17. Actually I was impressed with Fear the Roo having the balls to come on our board. It brought out some fire from Toledo fans and we needed that.
  18. Winning one game on the road in the NIT can not be the biggest win in school history. I don't care if it's Temple, Maryland, or Stanford. If so, then you're men's basketball history is quite sad.
  19. Yeah it's the NIT and the games mean very little, but congrats on beating Temple on the road. A couple of wins in this tournament would really boost morale for next season and may help recruiting. I hope Akron gets on TV thursday night because you guys deserve it. Good luck vs. Creighton!
  20. I don't know about that. With that little time in advance and it's on a Tuesday night, attendance may have been 3-4,000
