Remember, the scouts and talent evaluators see these kids different than we do. I know dozens of UT seniors throughout the year who I thought we definite FA signings, but in the end could barely get into the CFL. I think Hixson has the best chance of a FA signing because he would be a valuable KR or PR in the pros. Biggs is a possibility, if he could play special teams, which is what most teams will look for.Are those 2 the only ones? I'm not as familiar with UA as I am Toledo so I don't know who else has a shot on Sundays next season.

Fighting words, but football is a tad different. The NCAA tourney is above and beyond the NIT tournament. When you play an OOC team, you look to see if they have been in the Big Dance recently. Yeah to go to the finals of the NIT would be nice, but the Big Dance I believe would be more satisfying.

Oh I'm still at war with you guys. Especially when my Rockets beat the Zips in the tourney!
-
Well since the Toledo board is generally idle right now, I gotta stir something up!
-
Toledo averaged over 4,000 per game? That's a shock. Those attendance figures are a bit embarrasing and I think every team in the conference has some work to do in this area.
-
I'm not saying, don't be proud of your team. Hell, it's been a great year for UA athletics. But the general impression outside of this board is that you guys are thinking along the lines of: "We're MAC champs, we're the best in the conference." To people from Toledo, BG, and Miami this draws a reaction. Now, I'm not saying that you guys DON'T have the right to brag, you do indeed, but I think many outside of Akron are getting wary of the cockiness by some Zips fans. All I'm saying is that if Akron continues to win (and I hope they do) then you will be put up there as one of the best programs in the conference. Also, I will lighten up on my Zip bashing. Part of it is to stir the pot and the other part is from  jealousy, because this has been a great year for the Zips and the usual good year for Toledo. I wish my b-ball team was in your position right now, but they have problems even if they are poised for Cleveland this week. So, I'll try to be a little more fair and receptive to your opinion. As I state in my signature, I am impressed with the Zips. This is a first class university with a athletic dept. poised for a hge upswing in the conference.I hope this helps a little.

1 : to slow up especially by preventing or hindering advance or accomplishment : IMPEDE2 : to delay academic progress by failure to promoteIt may be harsh, but hardly inflammatory or in my opinion inaccurate. Seeing your name and the word "retard" together makes everything now a little more understanding.

Actually I think the MAC is one of few or the only conference which requires a 2.0
-
Obviously I add something when a whole topic is devoted to bashing me. Granted it's only more fuel to hate me or Toledo, which I don't understand, but if you would look outside of your tiny shell, you would realize that people outside of Akron have a different perspective on your athletic programs. As I stated in a previous post, Akron has had a helluva year in sports, and I picked a damn good year to come to Akron, but you are not on top of the world or the conference for that matter. That takes time and more rings.
-
You offend me as a UA student. Needed a real degree to get a good job so you came o UA. That's the only smart thing you've done. You can ridicule Toledo athletics all you want, but don't diminish the education from the university.
-
Funny, but most people on the other two MAC boards feel the same way about Akron fans. You're cockiness after winning 1 MAC title draws a response from most of us. Granted, this has been a helluva year for UA and I commend all sports programs who have brought success this year to Akron. And, Akron will continue to grow and expand because whoever is in charge of their finances actually knows what he/she is doing. On the other hand, the guy watching over Toledo's books is a complete moron and with enrollment decreasing and tuition rising, students are moving elsewhere. However, until your football team wins a few more MAC titles and a bowl game, please limit your renewed interest in UA athletics to a moderate level, because outside of the university, not many are jumping on the bandwagon.
-
That's the best you got?
-
Dude, you're exactly right, but the Zips fans here have legitimate reasons to hate me. As long as no one gets personally offended, I say let's keep it going.
-
A whole topic devoted to me! More to come...
-
Yes, Toledo fans are accustomed to it, and it at least brings some added flavor to discussions.
-
The Cavs, Indians, and Browns are a little more exciting to read about than the Zips.
-
I knew you guys weren't intelligent, but I at least thought you could read.
-
Wow, I feel like a celebrtiy here.
-
You're right except if you were trying to spell moron, it's different than maroon. They earned those rings by beating the Huskies twice. (Thanks)But they are not on top of the world. They are the defending champs of the MAC conference, which nobody really cares about once conference games start in Sept.

Over 60 Division I football schools were below the 925 standard and didn't get penalized because they took the "squad size" clause. Marshall is one of them. The NCAA requires a 1.7 or higher GPA to be academically eligible for sports, but the MAC requires a 2.0 or higher GPA to be academically eligible. Therefore, the MAC is going to have a few more student-athletes reported as academically ineligible because they have a higher standard than the NCAA enforces. 7 MAC schools have a 70% or higher graduation rate according to the GSR. At least two of those with graduation rates at or higher than 70% had APR scores under 925 and were penalized. The GSR does not count it against a school if a kid transfers out during the school year and is in good academic standing. The APR does count it against you even though the kid was in good academic standing. What is more important, a higher graduation rate or an APR score that counts transfers in good academic standing against you? Obviously the NCAA currently things the APR is more important, but of course many BCS schools see less transfers than non-BCS schools.

Damn it. My next post was going to be:Can't Read, Can't Write, but Can beat Akron in basketball
-
Go 7-6, win 1 MAC title, and think you are on the top of the world. Go Zips!
-
From a national perspective, which record looks more impressive:7-6, conference title, bowl loss9-3, bowl win :macc: 2001 :macc: 2004
-
I saw that Akron barely passed the APR score. Did one of the profs slip a passing grade to a few students? Probably, so please thank the good lord above that he did so, otherwise Akron would have been right up there with Toledo.7-6 and MAC Champs/MCB loser9-3 and GMAC Bowl winnersI'll take the latter.

I pimp Toledo? I merely give a different perspective that should be taken into account.I don't consider poster Toledo Rockets as a reliable representative of the school.
