  1. Don't hesitate for one second. Buy some tickets. This season, the most important thing a Zips fan can do to support the team is to buy extra tickets whether they get used or not. Don't give away extras outside of the ticket booths the day of a game either, make those people buy a ticket just like you did. The citizens of Akron need to start taking ownership of this team. For basically $100, you can buy a Family Pack to the games. That's 20 total tickets toward the 75,000 we need to average 15,000 per game.It is also up to all of us to help sell tickets for the University. There are enough concerned people out there that the University is doing well with it's Fund Drive. I would challenge each of you to participate in this Fund Drive effort. It's one thing to talk about the problems selling tickets, but it's another thing to actually do something about it. It's time for all of us to start doing. I don't support the buy a ticket even if you don't go policy. What a waste of money.
  2. One of the keys is students. Those Thursday games should be filled with 5-8,000 students. Granted the games are off campus but the university needs to provide transport or do something to get people in the stands. Nothing looks more embarassing to a university than a game on national tv in front of an empty crowd.
  3. That attitude is why some MAC supporters can't stand the fans from those so-called "bigger conferences." It's plain and simple bullsh*t.
  4. I was going to go and had people lined up, but my academic obligations prevent me from going, and that p*sses me off. I was looking forward to this one.BTW, I hope the Zips beat the living crap out of Paterno and his Nittany Lions.
  5. In other words, RF is an outstanding Rocket fan who is a great ambassador for Toledo. As for me, well I think many here may think otherwise
  6. I thought Pluto made some interesting points, but I don't agree that the schedule is a disaster. Akron can and should go at least 9-3 in the regular season baring any unforseeable injuries.
  7. Until you go to the GMAC bowl and see the atmosphere, which beats the MCB by a long shot, then of course you would prefer going to Detroit.
  8. I hope not. My whole family is Penn St fans and I want Akron to kick their ass. That day in 2000 was so special for me.
  9. Plus, we're hosting Kansas, Purdue, Boise St, Fresno St. and I believe Pitt either this year or in future seasons bringing more respectable teams into the GB each season.
  10. So would I, but playing OSU will be great in a "neutral" field. Granted, this is about the money, which Toledo will rake in more becuase of their status as the home team. We're talking millions here in ticket sales and other sources of revenue.
  11. Well, although the stadium will have a sea of scarlet of red, UT will bask in the $$$$, which is what this game is about, unfortunately. Still, this could be a good game depending on how both teams look in 2009.
  12. Okay, I'll bite, what's a jambulance? My guess is, those gas station attendants painted some old ambulance blue and yellow??? It has nothing to do with the Blue Crew. Some UT alum with some money bought an old ambulance and turned it into a Rocket mobile. I went down to the GMAC bowl in it, and although extremely uncomfortable, the Jambulance got a lot of attention. He is planning on going to games outside of Toledo starting this year and the Akron/PSU game would be a nice start.
  13. Some Rocket fans are going with the Jambulance. I might go with 4-5 others.
  14. In all honesty, I think teams like Akron, Toledo, and Miami have a serious chance of being looked at by the Big East in the next 2-3 years becuase of their recent success in football and basketball.
  15. Kest has a long way to go but I hope she is successful.
  16. The guy didn't do his hw, which probably explains why he writes for the Salem news.
  17. A little harsh, but I understand where he is coming from. The jury is still out on Fyre even if that pisses off you UA fans here. I'm sorry, the guy has a lot to prove to me before I jump on his bandwagon. Plus, we need a veteran backup in Cleveland to not only tutor Fyre but to be there in case he gets hurt. Dorsey just won't cut it.

  19. I am very surprised by this, but I hope things work out for him. It's good to see MAC guys get drafted.
  20. Sorry to break this news, but the Browns have better needs than a WR.
  21. For once, I agree with most of you. The NCAA is allowing 6-6 teams to be eligible, which is ridiculous. Hell, a 7-5 team should not be eligible, but it's more respectable than 6-6. The NCAA has too many bowls, and even if I love the exposure for the conference, some of these bowls have to go. (Ft. Worth, Emerald, etc...) Going to a bowl game should be extra special, a reward for a great season, such as 9 wins or higher. By adding more bowls, the NCAA is destroying the significance factor because now over 50% of Div. 1 teams will go bowling this year. (62/119) I think that is wrong, but of course I could be a minority.

It happens to most MAC schools. The key game is the home one at Miami. That may be for the right to play in Dec.
  23. I laughed so hard reading the Buchtelite today. Somebody called Biggs "one of the premier backs in the nation?" He's a decent back, and maybe one the better ones in the conference, but come on! I mean, he's not even considered as an NFL draft pick. Also, Rasor guaranteeing a return trip to Detroit is rather Sure, Akron returns a solid team, but nothing is for sure in the MAC.Come on Zip writers. At least the ones in Toledo show some objectivity!
  24. Is he a guard, forward, post guy?
