Makes too much sense.

For all of this, wouldn't you say that the data is flawed to being with? Most of strength of schedule is calculated by final rankings, if the rankings themselves are flawed (for instance providing higher rankings then are deserved) then SOS cannot be accurately calculated. I have no interest in OSU, but the SEC is greatly inflated on perceived success in bowl (home) games. The SEC championship game will be played by Mizzou (5-7, 2-6 in 2012) and Auburn (3-9, 0-8 in 2012). So how strong is this "Power Conference" really.

Of course you don't understand. College sports is marketing, period. Every dollar you spend on OSU gear is a dollar not spent promoting the University of Akron, where you got your degree. It devalues the product because even you, a graduate, aren't proud enough of your alma mater to wear it. The value of a degree is equal parts public awareness (marketing), job placement, and education. The reason sports exist is to push the marketing of the school. Not just for student attraction, but to make people aware of what the school offers in terms of quality graduates.

You know what, every year someone on here pulls the "we should drop down" or "we should make our own division". You state the MAC isn't good enough to compete etc. There are 10 teams that I would say NIU couldn't compete with, maybe 20 that BGSU couldn't. The difference is, both schools (and Akron) are ready to play to anyone. I read Buckzip talk about "That wasn't the same Michigan" BS! That was the very same Michigan and after we smacked them in the mouth in the first quarter they knew how the game was going to be. Tired of this crap. BZ has to justify his favorite team struggling against Michigan. But you know what, this is the real world. The emotional up or down that you get going into a game only lasts about 15 minutes of real time, and then talent and discipline take over. So sick of these topics "we can't compete let's go home" absolute garbage. If the BCS does break off, it will be so different from what you see now. There won't be Indiana's and Vanderbilt's in that division, it will only be the top of the top. And that is why it won't be happening any time soon. There are 100 universities that also have a say in what happens and a split doesn't benefit a single one of them. We don't have a shot at a National Championship because in every state across this country there are 100's of thousands of people who did not graduate from the "Marquee" school in there state and they stupidly root for a school that has absolutely no impact on them. In fact anyone who only has degrees from a MAC school or Cincinnati devalues their degree every time they buy Suckeye gear.

I feel bad for whatever school OSU hoses with LF.

It was announced on Friday, in fact I posted my topic as soon as I read it.

I thought this was appropriate, because for the first time in 4 years, I am genuinely excited for next season.

The defense won't be that bad off, a lot of the 2 deep dbs played some quality minutes and look generally good. Hollis and Grice are both back, D-End we get to add Se'Von Pittman and Capi may be back, we already know the Linebacking corp is tough. We just need the OL shored up. I'm a lot more comfortable with Pohl after today, we will have to see how the surgery and recovery goes though.

5-7, 4-4 in the MAC, 3 yards away from 6-6 and two chokes away from 8-4. And let's not forget 4-5 down the stretch. I think Bowden was right on with is prediction "biggest improvement in program history." We start 2014 with Howard which will be a chance for 4 wins in a row.

We have to finish this thing!

It truly has been. Pohl has looked his best since the Michigan game.

Why should I hate Can't (From a Buffalo Fan)

Why should I hate Can't (From a Buffalo Fan)

Not that I think you should hate Akron, but there is some case to be made for a Buffalo-Akron rivalry. Rivalries are typically built out of proximity and history or similarity and history. Buffalo and Akron are both Canal Towns. Both cities were once similar in size. The Universities are similar in size. The drive from Akron to Buffalo is about 3.5 hours. So we actually have similarity and proximity. Now for that history part... We are both 1AA upstarts, joining a conference that really wasn't that thrilled to have us. Football - Our final year in the Rubber Bowl we had a 4 OT battle against you, we were on a path to our second Bowl game, but the loss in the final game at the Rubber Bowl to you propelled us on a nasty spiral, and propelled you to a MAC Championship. The last FBS win that Akron had, prior to Miami, and futile year, after futile year was November 26, 2010 22-14 over... Buffalo. Basketball - The same year as the Football MAC Championship, your Basketball team played its way into a shot at a MACC. Only to fall to Akron in the final game of the tournament. We have always had very hard fought games against each other and there is bad blood between the players already. I would also say that our fan base dreads meeting Buffalo in the tournament because the match up is always so close. So it's not a deep history, but there are some very interesting things in what little exists. There is nothing wrong with Rivals respecting each other, the biggest issue is getting you guys back on our Football Schedule since the MAC offices don't seem to want to do that. -
Sorry GP, there is no talent gap. 3rd and goal on the one inch line down 10. You run the ball in, and yhen use 4th down if third down doesn't work. The coaches over thought that situation. Overall we are as good if not better than BG and the coaches need to realize they have the talent to do the things every team can do. No need to be cute in those situations like they were today.

New look for Zips to debut at home opener?
g-mann17 replied to g-mann17's topic in Akron Zips Football
If you have a multitude of unique things in the same category, then you would be able to say something is more or less unique within that category. Also, the general consensus is quiet, there are a few people on here or twitter that made noise (mostly from opposing schools on twitter). -

The over shoe was called a zipper because it had a zipper. -
Well you get one more, hopefully as exciting and fruitful as this one.

Ah yes Z4P, but why burden the angry low self esteem haters with facts. It was shortened to Zips, but the name has always been Zippers, and zipper fasteners have been on way more than just jeans. The more i see it, the more i like this. -

That's gonna hurt, who's going to replace all his catch from the first game? On a serious note, best wishes on the meniscus surgery Keith, hope you get back soon.

They would have done that before the first game, and you don't tease "a new look" because of it. -

I didn't even pay attention to the quotation marks... So what kind of change is it going to be, new color, new logo? -
ZipsFB Twitter Box says Riddell, so helmets are the safest guess. Wonder what they will be...blue, white?
