  1. 1. 3 or more, I just feel our offensive talent will make it to where VMI will have to pass more, therefore there will be more opportunities for sacks. In fact I expect Deon'Tae Moore to impress in his first game of his career 2. JoJo will have 99 yards receiving or less, but he will have more than 100 yards combined via rush, return, and receiving. The game should be in control so I would expect coach to look at getting as many people involved on offense so that we have them game tested 3. Warren Ball will be below 129 but above 100. For the same reason as JoJo, game testing all of the "offensive weapons". On offense I am actually looking for Traylor-Bennett to have a breakout performance due to the mismatches he is going to see, and despite JoJo being the new hot thing, Lane is still the #1 target on this team because of vertical passing.
  2. A very interesting topic, that isn't really appropriate for this forum. However... The number of you that speak of loyalty and respect for the flag seem to drastically forget what it was that led to us having this country, and this flag, and this anthem. In fact, had we always practiced that same loyalty and revelry for the flag, we would all be hold our hands over our hearts staring at this... https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/ae/Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg/1280px-Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg.png and singing "God Save the Queen". We are not now, nor were we ever supposed to be a nationalist country.
  3. Nice, now they just need to slap some Zips banners on some of the downtown light-poles instead of the UPA signs.
  4. Seems pretty real... Press Release from April 2016
  5. Actually they don't. The superintendent said, "you only get one chance to build something like this so we want to do it right" Here is his actual quote... McKinney School Bond
  6. Seems like the common consensus around campus is "don't let the olive jar hit you in the @$$ on the way out!"
  7. They probably did, they definitely had the community, alumni and student support. He hasn't had much trouble at YSU getting the business support. The thing that was "missing" was the support of the faculty. They wanted someone "traditional" someone with "experience". They got what they asked for.
  8. Some kind of announcement coming today after the Executive session of the Board of Trustees.
  9. Stark State is good about partnering with local businesses to develop technical programs. Several of those are already Akron companies, like First Energy. So if demand dictated, you could see some of that moving up here and developing additional degree related programs with UA.
  10. Right, and that was derived from the Patriot Act as I recall. Pretty sure though that this went way off topic.
  11. I went ahead and highlighted the part that you missed.
  12. Yes, that is all we need. We need Theodore Roosevelt to make an executive order to make football safer because there is just too much brutality occurring. Oh wait, he did that... History
  13. With recruiting like that, the team is sure to be explosive.
  14. Remember when everyone was debating on whether Tressel was the right selection.... Well here you go...
  15. Right, but he could be redshirted for any single season, doesn't have to be the Freshman season.
  16. 2nd year, which is why they could go to a Bowl Game, and you are talking about two of the most storied FCS programs, but continue with your football ignorance.
  17. The Robert Stein story is impressive. There were a lot of people who stepped up yesterday. Pratt had the best game of his career, Stein 3 for 3, Givens with the interception and two key pass break ups. Jatavis just being Jatavis. I will admit I was ready to write them off after the CMU loss especially after getting blown up at BG the game before. But the way they pulled it together and closed out the season, 5 wins in a row, I don't remember any other year closing out with winning streak like that. Thank you seniors for sticking with the program, thank you to all the transfers who believed something could be accomplished here. Looking forward to watching Woodson to Lane in 2016.
  18. AND...Temple still can't hang with the MAC...
  19. Reading the other posts may cause group think....
  20. I wonder if the 'The Devil Strip' realizes that it does more harm than good around this subject. The university laid the rumor to rest in September, hashing it back up now, knowing what we know from state legislators, is just causing more distrust. We already know they exhausted all avenues to change the name and settled on just utilizing the tag line instead. The June e-mail, when the university was still considering the name change, talks about a political campaign. Why? Because they would have had to get buy in from the state representatives to allow the name change. The September statement came at the start of the year, after realizing the subject was dead in the water.
  21. It can at the very least go back to what it was in the 70's and earlier where college education cost was supported through a 70-30 (state/student) cost split unlike the 15-85 that it is now.
  22. Growing enrollment is a mark of a successful university. Especially when we know that enrollment has been declining because we began denying applicants (that started in 2011, right when the enrollment started taking a nose dive). So as the quality of student goes up, and new student enrollment increases, the University is meeting two of the primary criteria to be a successful university. But I also notice you mention making programs great, but have been critical of the Corp of Cadets program, the Dance Center, the Entrepreneurial Center, and the center for computer technology. All new programs, created out of cost cutting of nonessential university functions, or are those to be overlooked? I can't help but think that the people who don't understand the tag line, are failing to help the university meet the criteria you state are a mark of a successful university.
  23. I was just trying to be the facebook comments. Bottom line, is that they are trying to draw in students, and let prospective students know we are more than what they may have assumed. The biggest change I have noticed on campus, is that the branding, is focused on the student (as it should be), and not Luis Proenza, or the new buildings. We will see if it impacts enrollment or not sometime next year. To grow enrollment, you have to do two key things, recruit hard, and limit drop out/transfers. The commercials/marketing do the first part. But for the second, being present and making the student feel like they are a part of something requires faculty/admin involvement and I have heard that is lacking.
  24. There are no plans to change the name of The University of Akron....but, we already are calling it The University of Akron - Ohio's Polytechnic University and that my friends may get changed.
  25. Those look an awful lot like the Midshipman Uni's with Ohio Tech pasted on. http://tinyurl.com/o78fmw5
