  1. Sometimes, yes .. other times .. not so much.We need an applet where you can play music behind a post when someone is reading the post. This one needs the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" .. nice motivation speech. I'd have written the exact same thing 10 years ago. Might be interesting to revisit in 5, and then again in 10 years. Hope it's a prosperous 2010.Opportunity does flourish amid chaos. And that too!Go Zips! B) B)This song would make more sense for GP1.
  2. Are you channeling GP1 now, or what?
  3. Huggy was ahead of his time. He is exactly what college sports are and what they have always been. He had the balls to say what everyone else was thinking. It's about winning today. It was about winning in the 1990s. It was about winning in the 1950s. It always has been and always will be. Coaches are brought to schools to win. Alumni give money because the school is winning. Coaches are fired because they don't win. Athletic Directors are fired because their teams don't win. Alumni stop giving money because the team is not winning and are willing to turn their backs to bad behavior if the team is winning.I'm not saying it's right or wrong, it just is what it is.You are so full if sh!t.Look at John Calipari. Or Rick Pitino. Those guys stand for all that is good in Division 1 athletics. With them, it is all about teaching kids. About education first, then athletics. About integrity and character. How long would Bobby Knight have lasted at Indiana if he won 15 games per season? FOREVER, I SAY!Winning has nothing to do with anything.ROFLMAO ... !!!!Cap'n, surely you say that tongue-in-cheek. You just named two of the biggest cheats on collegesports. Continuing to ROFLMAO. Nearly brought tears to my eyes. If only they could keep theirJohnsons home.I forget, was it Pitino or Calipari who coached Tiger?
  4. This is great news. I hope that Porter is here for the full 5 years. Hopefully there is a huge "poison pill" in there that makes it very expensive for another team(Pro or collegiate) to lure him away.
  5. Epic! Post of the year.
  6. Waiting for GP1.....
  7. Like I said during the game, #17 is a thug!
  8. #17 for UVA is a thug. He got one yellow, but deserved another one for stepping on Ampi's head.
  9. After more than a week off, this will be a nice little tune up. We will need to shake off some rust. Zips by 18.
  10. At last report, the ZipsNation.Org search party is still on its mission started to Put-in-Bay a few years ago in search of DA ZIPMAN!You'll have to wait to find Balki .. priorties.DA ZIPMAN! I'm sure a few pearls of wisdom from him would make my day!
  11. Why don't you tell us how you really feel ITZ!
  12. Yeah, but we need to wait to see what The Big Lebowski and Overtaxed Voter, not to mention Old Man Grump, have to say about it before we chime in right?Don't forget Loren Eberly, she's really profound!
  13. Someone in the know told me that UA and the City of Akron are in discussions about renovating the Knight Center into a real arena. Aren't the University and the city are already partners in this project? Most of the infrastructure and other items needed(Parking) are already there. Is this just another crazy rumor or could an arena at that location make sense?http://www.johnsknightcenter.org/pdfs/uppe...0capacities.pdfhttp://www.johnsknightcenter.org/DefaultJSK.aspxhttp://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source...=12&iwloc=A
  14. It works in the SEC and it worked in The Longest Yard.Erick Howard , "Mr Football" from Canton HooverQuote; GP1 Quote; GP1 By your logic, this kid is a perfect recruit.
  15. They did secure an alternate site (115 x 70 with field turf) in the event that Lee Jackson was unplayable for the tournament. Thankfully it looks as though we're going to make it through all three games with no weather/field issues.I heard it was here;http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe...=16&iwloc=AThey have a nice new field, just zoom out and look to the upper right of the campus.
  16. I did! Truly an unforgettable moment.
  17. Tiger Woods would hit that!
  18. Duo to be rivals
  19. Things are heating up. "Akron is no Gimme"
  20. I think this thread might be as close to one about the Zips at this point. How did we ever draw 11k for McNeese St last year?
  21. Too bad, Dan Bailey is a good guy.
  22. As of Sunday, Bailey was still employed by UA, that I know for a fact. His job is more than just the strength coach for the football team. Interesting rumor.
  23. Film study, game planning....this guy might even know how to make half time adjustments!?!?Ant idea how much $$ he makes at GVS? I would prefer a guy like this to a BCS coordinator.
  24. I think this guy might have something to say about that.Jimbo Fisher
  25. All of them. The overall athletic talent on this team is good enough to win in this sorry league if it wasn't for the mismanagement of the coach. The problem is the talent was used in the wrong way because JD's strategies were destined for failure. Using different schemes will bring out the talent in the team. It happens frequently. A good swift kick in the ass from the new coach will do wonders for the kids as well. When Owens was fired, my biggest concern was the lack of talent on the team (Owens would have had one more 6-5 year under his belt and then the wheels would have fallen off). JD had to come in and clean house. Most were so bad they couldn't even make Ashland win their conference after transferring there. The new guy won't have to do that. JD left enough talent behind to win in the MAC....the next guy needs to win sooner rather than later.I hope you're right. It makes me wonder why JD did better with LO guys than his own?Biggs, Alleman, Kemme, Getsy and pulling Hixon from defense to offense. Four of those five were JD's guys. Hixon my as well have been since JD saved his career. The myth is JD won with LO's guys. The reality is his guys took the Zips from a second place team to MAC Champions. One other thing everyone seems to forget is JD lost some key assistant coaches in the first couple of years. Arron Alford is doing well at Utah and the LB coach is doing well at Air Force. I think these guys were key losses to the program.I agree that those guys were "His Guys", but why wasn't he able to attract anymore of those types of players after that initial wave?
