Your best post ever!

I hope he emulates the coaches at CMU who have made that program into a consistent winner. If he does that, he deserves to move on and we will get another high upside assistant to replace him.

Some more tidbits. Wyoming and Niagara are not going to be on this season's schedule. Niagara's coach is upset over the outcome of the last 2 meetings with the Zips, including his ejection from last years game at the JAR. Wyoming can see the handwriting on the wall and see's no benefit in getting the asses handed to them at the JAR this season. Both teams will owe the Zips $50k for breaking the contracts. As Go Zips said in his post, Abreu is coming here to play right away. Dambrot says he can play point guard and brings things to the table that none of our existing guards have shown to date. IE the ability to run the offense, penetrate and dish the ball to open teammates. Quincy Diggs will be at the 3 spot. Coach says we need a shutdown defender at that position and Diggs is the man to get that done. He will also play the 2 when the match ups are right. Of the three high school recruits, Egner is the most likely to see playing time next season. His attitude and ability to defend gives him a good shot at significant minutes. Dakota Euton will be a "stretch 4" and be able to see some minutes if his defense will allow. Green is a great shooter, but might see a redshirt to work on his overall game. The team hasn't heard from Humpty since his fathers funeral. He is devastated by the loss of his father, who raised him and was his best friend. Right now, Humpty is not sure where his future lies. Steve Swiech is set to graduate this spring and will finish out his playing career at the University of California/Pennsylvania. Steve made a great speech about how much he loved his time at Akron and will always be a Zip first. What a great kid. The team gives out awards for alumni of the year and fan of the year. I'm proud to say the Zipsnation.org member and moderator, Zipwatcher was awarded the Fan of the Year. I can't think of a more deserving fan to get this award. ZW is the definition of a true fan who is always there to support the team through good and bad.

Rasor even confirms something he shouldn't be confirming because it's dead wrong. Maybe it's a sign that his head is more into politics these days than basketball. With the departure of the three transfers and two seniors (Jimmy Conyers and Chris McKnight), Akron has five open scholarships. Abreu and the other three recruits will account for four of them. Barring another signee, guard Darryl Roberts will use the fifth scholarship, after playing his prior three years as one of the most productive walk-ons in the country. Why is this dead wrong, if you will pardon my ignorance? 13 Scholarships available. Returning players: Brett McKnight Brett McClanahan Humpty Hitchens Steve McNeese Zeke Marshall Mike Bardo Daryl Roberts Nicola Cventinovich New recruits: Josh Egner Michael Green Dakota Euton Alex Abreau ????? 8+5=13 D Roberts is already on scholarship.

Effort There, Execution Not So Much....Yet
Hilltopper replied to johnnyzip84's topic in Akron Zips Football
It reminds me of the SideSaddle-T offense. "Dike" Beede, YSU headcoach ran it and Ron Jaworski was a master at executing it. -
That may be true, but wouldn't he have to sit out a year if he transfered to another D-1 program? After all he has gone through, already sitting out because of injury, I would think he would want to play right away.

I just finished filling out my season end questionnaire from the AD about Zips basketball. One of the questions is what is your primary source of informant ion about the program. The list included Gozips.com, the ABJ, the PD and also ZN.O. I guess enough people listed ZN.O on the football survey as a write-in, they felt compelled to put us on the list. It would be interesting to see what % of the surveys listed ZN.O as their main source of info.

All three of those names make sense to me. I would bet that all three end up in D-2 or lower.

You guys are old. True, but Z.I.P. is older! But he does have the whole "living in paradise" thing going for him I got you all beat, my freshman year was 78.

Thanks for your input Mrs. Getsy.

???? Just so nobody is misled by this.... Huggins did not even start coaching here until after the completion of the JAR. And...Muse was Akron's president during the Huggins era. Bob Rupert was the head coach when the JAR opened.

Thanks for the clarification Chris ... er .. I mean Hilltopper. That's a pretty detailed understanding of the rules you have there. Haven't you seen my tall, blonde, cheerleader, 16 year old daughter? There's an old saying, when it comes to young girls, 18+15 will get you 20.

Under ohio law, it is presumed that a minor(male or female) under the age of 16(17?) can not "give consent" to a sexual act. To go along with that premise, a 17 year can be considered an adult when committing a crime(m or f). Thats how a 17 year old male can be charged with statutory rape of a 15 year old.

I think you need a new screen name after that statement. I'm suggesting GP1 jr.

I'm planning on playing the Mega Milllions lottery today. Since your such a clairvoyant, maybe you could pick my #'s for me!

Awful news. I hope JD wasn't the one who ruined him by sitting him so much. The new coaches are not respecting anything that has happened in the past and are playing head games with some of the past starters(not referring to the above). I hated head games and that BS. I hope things turn out well. head games? Are you serious? That's BS crap to do to anyone. Maybe saying that they don't respect old starters is the same thing as putting everyone on the same level with a clean slate from another vantage point, but to intentionally mess with people is a completely different thing, and not how I would expect a quality program to be run. Even if you didn't like a guy or thought he wasn't quality material by your standards, you man up and tell them. Women play mind games. That crap is petty I think coach Kest had the right idea when she cleaned house a few years ago. If a player just wants to get by on what the old coaching staff told them, too bad. Those who don't want to get with the new program are welcome to leave.

OU Dance Team Member: Unusual or Visionary?
Hilltopper replied to Zip Watcher's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
This is Hilltoppers daughter and I am a competitive cheerleader. It might be that I am used to it, but I don't find anything wrong with the male dancer. Actually I think that it is amazing that he is even on the team. On my team there are four guys and there are a total of nine guys in the gym. These athletes are some of the coolest people I know, and probably the best athletes in the gym. I think that people need to get over the idea that guys can't do the same things girls can do. He's good and should continue dancing!!!
