  1. Now thats the attitude we need around here.
  2. Corporate realitys are what prevents Goodyear or other Akron area companies from making that type of financial commitment. Goodyears stock price fell yesterday because they didn't make their profit projection for the 4th Qtr of 2005. If we want to sell naming rights or find a large contributer it must be from either a very profitable public corp or a privately held company. How about some more realistic ideas. I wouldn't be surprised if there has aleady been a corp that has stepped up to the plate and made a sizeable donation. How about this one LEBRON/NIKE FIELD
  3. I'm looking for someone to split a MAC Pack for the BB tournament. A MAC Pack consists of four lower center section reserved seats for all sessions. Also included are 2 parking passes for each session in the attached deck. The total cost is $550. If you are interested please send me message.
  4. As you requested link; http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/mac/phpbb/vi...pic.php?t=30299 Enjoy!
  5. I made a post about the Bubba situation over on the MACBBS and the OU posters are having a meltdown. If nothing else, this will be entertaining to see how it all plays out.
  6. Finally a full house . It was great to see a big crowd and the Zips played good enough to win. Lets build on this and make the JAR an even better place for home court advantage.
  7. Any guesses as to attendance for tonites game? The students are back so that will help. If we can't get people to the games in the middle of an 8 game winning streak than I wonder what the problem is. The ABJ coverage has been better and UAM has spent the $ to promote the team. Now its up to people of Akron to show their colors.
  8. Class move by NIU's coach at the end of the game by not turning it into a free throw contest. The Zips keep getting better each game. I hope that Dials makes it through the season. He looked like he was hurting most of the game. This will be a rough week with the CSU game sandwiched in on Monday.
  9. Your right CK, I got my point guards mixed up. Ball was like all the other players that played under Hipsher, he got worse as his career went on. I've asked him about this many times and his answer is that Bosley was treated differently than other team members and the other players(ANDRICK) resented this. Also coach HIP wasn't the easiest guy to play for. Anyhow I think KD's system doesn't need a "goto guy" and thats reflected in his recruiting. Team players who share the load and will work hard.
  10. Couldn't agree with you more about Andys fate after the WKU game ZW. Jammals freshman year featured him scoring 43 against CSU in a duel with Mouse Mcfadden. That had to be the biggest crowd ever at the JAR. There were bleachers instead of the blue upper seating and people were sitting in the ailes because it was packed. I'd have to say his freshman year was the best for me. :macc:
  11. I'm going to add to my rant about the ABJ. In todays edition there is a story about the death of Dave Brown. Dave was a local guy who went on to star at Michigan and later for 15 seasons in the NFL. It was nice that they put the story on the front of the sports section but they could at least check the facts. Brown is a graduate of GARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL not EAST as mentioned in the story. The facts just seem to evade the ABJ.
  12. Well, it seems as though the cast has been set for BB coverage this season. Last nights contest was not covered by the ABJ. The story appeared to be based on a phone call after the game to KD. Its obvious that if an away game is farther away than say Can't State we might as well forget any coverage. The only other major sporting event last night was the CAVS home game so that cannot be an excuse. They did write a nice article about the womens game and a full preview of tonights Can't State game. :macc:
  13. I would be happy if they built it to the standard of Canal Park.
  14. Here is an airial photo of the area I'm talking about. The area between Exchange, Vine, Spicer and Union. http://maps.google.com/?t=h&ll=41.072428,-...47,0.007896&t=h
  15. I wish Dambrot would let Sowers play more. In the limited time he has been on the floor he has looked good. I'm afraid that as the season wears on our guards are going to wear down. Get someone some playing time now so they are ready when needed. My only complaint right now is that we seem to take the last 3 minutes of the first half off. It seems as though we end up with a line up of Millum. one of the freshmen, Preston, and no Dru joyce. It seems as though Dambrot is concerned about fouls and is just trying to hang on until halftime. Last night we gave up 8 unanswerd pints before he subbed back in the starters to stop the bleeding. Also why does Joyce have to take like 9.5 secs each possesion to get the ball over halfcourt? Get the ball in the frontcourt and run the offense!
  16. I loved the cartoon also. Creative thinking like this and the fear the roo campaign are what makes for successful marketing. Keep thinking out of the box UAM, the fans love it!
  17. OK everyone, please pay close attention to what I' about to tell you. The magic # is 30. When we have $30 million in funding ground will be broken. Right now we have $17 million and counting. Total cost of the stadium$60 million. Anther $45 million for dorm space, classroom space and retail space. The $45mil will be financed through student fees. The stadium will be located near the fieldhouse between Spicer and Brown, fronting Exchange. The final plans have been approved. It will take 1 year to complete the project. All the other ideas about domes and span the tracks are nice, but the reality is this. its not going to be a palace but it will be ON CAMPUS! :macc:
  18. Chriss Wells is looking great in todays ARMY highschool all star game on NBC. He has scored both of the east's touchdowns.
  19. Troll!!!!! :macc:
  20. I think you have it backwards my friend. The main reason the Indians were winners in the 90's was the NEW stadium. The additional revenue generated by people coming to check out the new digs was what made the higher payrolls possible.
  21. I thought the Zips fans made a great showing yesterday. Even though we didn't win it was a great experience. All I can think about is doing it again. Also the Memphis fans we met were wonderfull. They were very gracious winners and have had nothing but nice things to say about our team and fans. I could get used to this type of excitment.
  22. I'm not saying they should stop covering OSU. I'm saying that local news and sports should get more coverage. Their biggest problem is that alot of people are now getting their news from the internet, including the ABJ website for free. The market for mass media is changing and they need to find their niche.
  23. The BJ had a retraction printed on the front page today as a result of a lawsuit settlement(they lost) from a story they ran in 2001. There was also a story in Sundays paper which explained why the paper has shrunk down to nothing. They are getting squeezed by their shareholders and their advertising revenue is way down. Perhaps if they got down from their political grandstand and started reporting the news instead of making it up they might get more readers. Day after day of BUSH LIED and WE ARE LOSING THE WAR turns people off. Just report the local news and sports.
  24. Any idea as to why Peterson didn't play? The 2 freshman played alot of minutes.
  25. I saw Wells play this year. He remind me of Eddie George. He is very tall and lanky and is a long strider. He doesn't look like he's working very hard but the results are there. He gets up after every play like it might be his last, but so did another player by the name of Jim Brown. If OSU is telling him to look around, the Zips need to make a BIG push to get him. He has a ton of talent.
