  1. I'm eager to see if the ESPN3 crew and graphics reference Zips LB "Ulysses Grant" again on Thursday. I wish I had a picture of the TV screen when that popped up during the Ball State game.
  2. "Something big is going to happen, but I'm not going to tell you what it is" is not information. It's a waste of everyone's time.
  3. A few closing thoughts as we move on from the Ball State game - I liked how Woodson reflected back during the post game interview on his 5 INT's in one half two seasons ago at Ball State. Allowing Kato Nelson to redshirt this year should really bode well for his development as a QB. He'll miss out on those "forced-into-duty-before-I'm-ready" lumps that Woodson endured and be ready to rock and roll in 2018. If Chapman is going to be our short yardage "wildcat" QB, he's got to protect the ball better. He doesn't secure the ball well when he runs. And he runs almost exclusively in very critical situations. Fumbles aren't an option. Another Zips comeback. We've outscored 6 of our 8 opponents in the second half this season. Conversely, we've outscored 3 of our 8 opponents in the first half. We ran outside the tackles for the first time all season. And Van showed some serious wheels once he got in open space. He makes us miss Ball less and less every week. Getting Woodson back was like getting Lane + Woodson back. Quigley did an OUTSTANDING job filling in at center. The OL didn't skip a beat. Damn is that OL gonna be goon in 2017! Bowl eligible in October? LET'S DO IT!!!
  4. I completely disagree. Frye always thought of himself as worthy of playing in the NFL. He was a driven kid who continually worked towards that goal, and was a better Zips player because of it. I want every Zips QB with that mindset.
  5. It's getting near the time when the question "Who's better...Frye or Woodson?" starts being bandied about? It's a good debate.
  6. Hope for a Tribe sweep.
  7. We can't lose this game.
  8. I like the guy calling plays in the second half! D really picked it up after that terrible start. Awesome job.
  9. But - Chapman needs to focus on ball security
  10. I like having our fate in the offense's hands
  11. Now bsu may be forced to pass. Minimizing Gilbert. Looking good Zips!
  12. Hope BSU doesn't hitch their horse to Gilbert. At least we're now in the drivers seat.
  13. Milwee doing a nice job of mixing the run and pass. Great to have Woody back!
  14. We have a terrible defense, and handcuff our offense. Do we want to win, or not? Thank God I didn't drive 5 hours to watch this.
  15. Worst awareness of a game situation I've ever seen. Horrible clock management.
  16. Bowden f'd up. His only chance to win this game is to score on every possession. Gasser should never see the field
  17. Terrible consecutive plays by the D.
  18. 4th and 1. Need UGIII to make a play!
  19. Hustler Belt Preview Looks like Woodson throws for 450 yards, and Ball State rushes for 450 yards.
  20. From what I heard, and this is all on very good authority, this was simply a wood burning project that went awry. Some of the Zips players were looking to surprise Coach Bowden with a customized canoe paddle as a Sweetest Day gift, and the damn gun tip overheated. Thankfully no one was injured. The players were embarrassed, and promised to never again undertake any craft projects prior to games. The pic below was taken just before the accident...if they wouldn't have added that last pine tree, everything would have been cool. Much ado about nothing. Move along everyone.
  21. I think we need separate "Three for Thursday - Chapman" and "Three for Thursday - Woodson" polls. At least it world help me.
  22. This will be a watershed game for the Zips. From here the Zips' season can either go in the crapper, or be a springboard to a strong finish. If the Zips are to win, Woodson needs be the QB. Chapman can win a game when the opponent is weak, but Ball State is 4-3, at home, and has some momentum. They aren't WMU, but they aren't Miami either. They're about at the Zips level. Ball State's defense is "ok" (I'd kill for the Zips D to ascend to "ok" status), and they have a beast of a running back. Ball State seems to be coached well enough to run, run, run if the Zips can't stop it. And we haven't stopped the run in 2016. That doesn't bode well. The Zips OL is healthy as a horse. Woodson/Lane/Natson/Wolf/Ball(?) can outscore Ball State. That's the only chance the Zips have to win this, or probably any other game remaining on our schedule. If WMU has "Row the Boat," the Zips mantra is "45 Points or We Lose." Which is fine, as long as they score 45+ points. While the Zips will be sporting a new defensive line due to the injuries...that might not be a terrible thing, as the DL hasn't exactly set the world on fire this year. Mabye a kid like Camara, at 6' 3", 285 makes a name for himself Saturday? Woodson's presence changes the entire complexion of the team. I know Jerome Lane can't get Woody back fast enough. He's gotta be behind center on Saturday, or we're at 0.500 come Saturday evening.
  23. You don't tug on superman's cape / You don't spit into the wind / You don't pull the mask off that old lone ranger / And you don't mess around with Jim. - Jim Croce Don't go publicly busting oars when you're a 12 point underdog and starting your second string QB. - Me
  24. George "Sleepy" Thomas wakes up at the 6:20 point. Absolute classic.
